Why INDIAN Skyscrapers are not made from Glass || भारत में कांच की बिल्डिंग कम क्यों है

  • GLASS FACADE BUILDINGS OR SKYSCRAPERS ARE RARE IN INDIA LETS SEE THE REASONS
    Glass fronted buildings are inevitable. Glass is a lightweight, easy to produce, easy to install, relatively low cost and pretty much low impact material. The question should not be, does it suit our climate, but rather, how we can adapt it to be used more efficiently in our environment. Most people would say that glass lets in light and heat and the "greenhouse effect" will be thrown about in the mix. That shows a lack of understanding of the material. Glass not only allows heat into a building, but lets it escape too, so a glass building can be effectively managed with shading devices. Also, a double glazed or triple glazed solution can also be employed in which case, the vacuum restricts the entry of heat, but the internal space still needs to be artificially cooled to make it livable.

    The main problems are cost and ability. India's private builders have no abilities to spend more money for glass skyscrapers. India's engineers have no abilities to design low cost and eco-friendly glass skyscrapers. Please DON'T blame climate. There are glass skyscrapers in almost every country of tropical climatic region.

    And its not advisable to built glass skyscrapers in coastal areas of our country because of their vulnerability to cyclones.

    Dubai, Sharjah , Oman Climate remain very hot for most of the year. Indian Contruction Industry uses lot of Concrete. Reason::: Cement Companies are owned by few big Powerful Corporate Groups . Cement Cartel formation is a known fact.
    Prefabricated offsite Block building Technology is Popular in many foreign Countries but not in India. Offsite Construction slabs are Prepared in factories made of Composite Material ( whic is more Envoinment Frendly. ) .Metro Contruction uses this Prefabricated system of constrctution in India. TESLA has built fastest factory using Prefabricated technology.
    The Problem with Concrete is 1) Concrete traps heat in daytime but radiates heat in the night. Concrete buildings thus keep cities hot during daytime.
    Concrete is non -porous . Concrete Surfaces do not Permit Rainwater to seep Inside Earth. Most countries want Sponge cities where Rainwater could seep inside for ground Recharge of water reseves.
    Cement is full of Chemical Ingridients hence harmful to Health. Cement transporation & distribution releases lot of Chemical dust during the Process even though it is Packaged in Polyutherance bags.

    We always give reasons. We can see glass skyscrapers in a humid climate like Singapore and even in a relatively cheaper labor country like China. Ohh now you may say that they can maintain them coz they are rich countries even though we have a city like Mumbai with a GDP of 360 billion dollars. Where's the money going! We could have found solutions to improve our cities asthetics.. Simple boss!! Need political will from our leaders and for us to TRULY care about our city rather than just keeping our house tidy and fill our pockets!!

    You might want to research your facts a bit more. You stated the whole electricity consumption and climate fact kinda opposite. Skyscrapers are kind of a thing that is mean to use structure like glass. If you check you'll see the commercial spaces in brick skyscrapers uses AC also using almost full lighting system even in daytime. Modern glasses blocks the outside heat in summer and cold in winter which minimizes the temperature system cost while it gives the advantage of using maximum daylight usage reducing electrical usage. Countries like Hong Kong and UAE always prioritizes glass skyscraper, in fact every new skyscraper there are glass structure. Hong Kong has a lot of skyscraper built before the glass structure was a thing, kinda like New York. My personal guess is India have brick structure for two reason mainly
    1. Most of the skyscraper actually built focusing on residential space.
    2. Your govt. gives massive priority to corporates to let them use the old technology to maximize profit.
    Brick Skyscrapers are heavy and unsafe compared to glass structure. Personally I wouldn't want to live on 106th floor of a brick structure.
