Sailing Our Catamaran 200nm To Long Island... Almost
Vložit

- When we first set out on this journey, 2 years ago, we had always dreamed of sailing farther than we'd ever gone before. Well, today is the day we start pushing those boundaries. Leaving from Spanish Wells it's roughly 200nm to Thompson Bay in Long Island and we are determined to get there. We experienced every kind of sailing there is, from perfectly smooth to insanely rough. Ultimately we didn't QUITE make it, this week.

Want more?! How about a little FAQ
❓Why Folsom Ocean Views?!
⚓️Because Folsom is Charles’ last name and it’s a play on the Johnny Cash Lyric "Folsom Prison Blues".
❓Why a #Catamaran?
⚓️Jes gets really seasick while #sailing and the upstairs galley really helps when we #travel.
❓You both work full time jobs?
⚓️Yup. Charles has a traditional 9-5 position as the Director of Customer Success and Jes owns her own business doing art commissions for clients. #WorkingandSailing
❓Where to Next?
⚓️We are not sure. Part of the fun of this #DigitalNomad #lifesytle is that you can pick your #adventures

The Algo giveth and the Algo taketh away. I watch a bunch of sailing channels and hadn’t noticed you drop of my radar (still subscribed though). I always enjoyed you guys, and especially appreciated you showing the steps and missteps in starting your journey into cruising. BUT. Now that I see you again after a long break I can say: you guys are killing it ! 😁
You both are so much more relaxed and your lovely boat looks so much more settled and sorted than the early days. Also you vid skills are very good and the storytelling clear and engaging. Thanks very much for sharing. I will ensure I follow your journey closer now. Lovely little rodents on board too…. just kidding, they are good looking, happy dogs. I’m a GSD owner and would worry about stepping on littler ones. 😁 Fair winds.
I always wanted to take my daughter out on a father daughter sailing time together. Nice to see another father daughter team on the sails.
Another great video I guess we missed you again. I hope you get to Long Island. Your faces light up every time you talk about getting to someplace new. Always brings a smile .
Just wondering why she pulls in the furler by hand at the bow? We run that thing back to the electric winch and pull it in. Also, that shake looks like a good idea on passages since I hardly eat on long passages, that would be a good alternative. If you come through St. Thomas this season, give us a shout. Stay safe guys.
Come on guys. PFDs and jack lines. Love the videos - kill switch on dinghy a few weeks ago too. Don’t be ambivalent - love the vids, will love even more when you push the safety button. Wynns went through the same process before realising its not optional. Fair winds!
That water in your drone shots - just beautiful! Missed you guys and your incredible Derby parties this weekend!
I really like your evolution of content and editing. Crisper story and music/editing really work for you. Well done, keep at it!
I've never heard of an almond cow appliance ,learned something new thank you
Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Keep up the great work!
That's so great to hear! Thank you so much for the kind words 🤗
Thanks for sharing !
Really great channel ,you guys are so much more relaxed in your presentation ,thank you for sharing your vid😁
Community coffee on a sailing channel!! My new favorite You Tube site. I enjoy the original Signature dark roast and Signature blend with a hint of dark chocolate.Have fun!
I have a good time just watching y'alls videos. Please keep going and sharing the adventures. The fur babies are a great contribution to the content as well.
No plans on stopping 😁 also I love to hear that the pups are entertaining to more than just me!
Another great video, good job, better wardrobe since Spanish Wells, Thanks, great work on the video
Great call to stop over time is great if you have it .enjoy
OMG 😱 WOW ‼️ Totally love your attitudes and how you have adjusted to yours 40' home.......which, BTW, is beautiful. Notice tons of electrics and hope you do a "kitchen approach" to living aboard. Would be fantastic 🎉. See you next week. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝👙🌞✨
Keep up the great episodes - these are so much fun! If you're still in the Bahamas, there are two SpaceX launches later this week (Thurs evening, and early Friday morning) that should be visible in parts of the Bahamas!
Sun protection... for the long haul. Stay safe! 💡
Always enjoy watching your stuff looks like you having fun
Always!
Another great video……beautiful sailing….
Thanks!! A good long sail is always a welcome change of pace 🙌🏻
Enjoyed. Keep up the good work! You will suceeced in all that you do.
Thank you! Will do!
Great video. I hope to meet up with you one day, presently cruising the Berry Islands, headed to Hilton Head for a new mainsail at the end of the month. Keep up the good work.
Great Episode! You guys have come along way! In the background when Charles was pulling out the paddle board I noticed one of the catamaran’s I follow on Marine Traffic called Off Piste. It is an HH50 catamaran. Great job! Cheers, Randy
We remember that boat very well - such an amazing boat. On the other side was a Balance 482 that was buddy boating with Off Piste. Now that's the kind of company I want to keep 😀
@@FolsomOceanViews Oh very cool! I Met Harry and Tyffanee at the Annapolis boat show last fall. Really nice couple! So great to see where you guys are sailing! Keep the vids coming! Also, I think Leviosa is a beautiful and capable boat as well!!
Thanks for the shout out to the Balance 482 (SV Zephyr) and to our best-buddy boat Off-Piste - very nice to meet you in gTown! Good luck on your travels and hope to cross wakes again soon! All the best.
Liked and subscribed ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The sound had some issue in a little bit of the video, but still a great one. Be safe!
Enjoying your videos
Great job !!!
Quick question what breed is your dogs
Cardboard is biodegradeable, compostable, recyclable and sustainable. If I cut down a tree to make cardboard, I'll plant several more to take its place. Plastics are sorta recyclable. Glass same. It sure isn't water friendly without a treatment. Just a couple things to consider.
Great update. It's been fun watching your growth as sailors. Inspires me. Scares me seeing you on the bow in rough seas and no pfd...
Cardboard is where cockroaches lay their eggs and breed. Storing them on a boat is highly discouraged. I totally agree on using recycleables: I use one glass bottle for our plant based milk and we drink 2 gallons a week. Thats 104 gallons of plastic milk containers we are not putting into this world every year by re-using one glass bottle.
I can highly recommend the Thermomix for making soups, stews, pasta dishes, hummus all sorts of stuff. They’re not cheap but it replaces a bunch of devices in your galley.
Looks like quite the little device! It does so much!! I’d be worried to put all my eggs in one basket. Things break in this environment 😅
@@FolsomOceanViews Ah now yes, that's a good point, salty environment and electronics don't mix.
First time viewer… what are your names?
I hope you toe gets better quickly Jess. It's hard to call ending up in Georgetown a fail. What a beautiful place. The soup looks good.
Hello from sweden i like your chair you have on deck ,plesa tell me the namn on them .Best regards from sweden
👁🙏 May the 😇🥰❤️🔥🌎🤲 continue to 🙌 U with good fortune, good fair winds, long healthy life, financial safety and security, Amen & Amen.
Is it wrong I watch to see the dogs?
I'm trying to build a community of Boaters, we can sell and live together and help each other out I have a 53 foot sport fish boat motor yacht
..... laughing .... should have had a rain coat you say .. more like turn the camera off and forget the clothes .... another option is be on the tramp and get tossed around, just don't forget about the hard things ... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger ... have fun be safe, save our oceans ...
Ok...I'm guessing you are still working on balancing your volume on your videos?
