Hi Thank you so much for the instruction ! In my case it was a Torx 20 screw, but that may have changed over the years, since my cases are a later build.

Thank you very much for your explanatory video.
I now have the problem of remounting the cylinders, I have purchased some touring cases for my BMW RS 2018 and already the former owner removed the cylinders.

Normally remounting is easy. With the key inserted in the lock, all tumblers stay in place and should be flush with the cylinder. If one stands out even a little bit, its not the right tumbler. Only the locking tumbler which is at the end of the cylinder (opposite of the key entry) stands out due to the spring. You need to press it down when inserting the lock to the case. Once the lock is fully inserted, the lock tumbler will pop up and the lock is blocked.

Thank you sir - this worked for my 2020 R1250RS - took about 2 minutes. Awesome!

Não foi fácil , depois de 1000 tentativas na primeira caixa consegui, na segunda foram menos de 20 tentativas e retirei o cilindro, mas nenhuma eu consegui se desmontar a caixa, utilizei o mesmo orifício mas sem a carenagem

I tried this method and got the left side out in just a couple minutes.....the right side is proving impossible to get out......I spent an hour struggling with it and still can't get it out! i will get it eventually...not sure why the right side is being soooooo difficult.

I finally had to take the right side box apart to get the lock barrel out. Turns out that whoever put it together installed the lock barrel in 180 out of alignment, and the lock wafer was facing the wrong direction. The marks on the backside of the barrel showed I was pushing in the right spot with the wire - it would have come out if the part wasn't installed wrong.

I had the same experience as you Dave. Had to disassemble the whole locking mechanism to get the lock barrel out. For anyone who is fitting a re coded barrel, you need to make sure that when you install the re coded barrel that the bottom locking slide is oriented toward the inside of the case, or center line of the bike if you will. This will make it easy to remove the barrel next time as in the vid. Taking the whole mechanism apart and re assembling is a PITA. The vid is good otherwise but does not mention this. I also tried picking the lock with a piece of wire with a bent tip to try get to that locking slide, not successful.

Sorry, should have said the locking slide should be oriented AWAY from the center line of the bike and toward the center of the case. The barrel is inserted in the unlocked position of course.

How did you dismantle the lock mechanism? I seem to be breaking mine 😮
