Welcome to a quick video on the Change Cards [チェンジカード] from Tensou Sentai Goseiger [天装戦隊ゴセイジャー].
This video is...random to say the least. There is a reason for it, however. If you look up, you'll see a link to my most recent article on my site. In it, I share my frustration with Bandai's continual toy version of DLC or Downloadable Content--the gimmick. Goseiger was really the first to truly abuse gimmicks in a massive way. In 1992 you could buy a Dino Buckler and have all five main Zyuranger medals. It didn't unlock any new sounds or anything, but it was a complete set out of the box. Fast forward to 2010 and you had to spend an additional forty-ish dollars to get the four Change Cards that weren't included with the Tensouder. On top of the forty dollars you spent on the Tensouder and the shipping, you're now looking at a $100 toy.
These have to be the most expensive four cards in Sentai history...and just to unlock sounds that are already inside the toy...
I put this quick video together since I had my Tensouder handy and the video that features all of the cards is a little convoluted. So $40.00 for a Tensouder and one card and $60.00 for four more ($15.00 a card). Bandai is really stretching it. For $15.00 you could get something like a starter or structure from Yu-Gi-Oh or even Pokémon at that price, or at least get up to 2 or 3 booster packs and even then you're looking at roughly six cards a pack, so you would get 12-18 cards and all are made from similar material as these cards. And all it is, is for some barcode thing (or how the cards are cut) that activates the different sounds on the toy. If you think of it that way, those Goseiger cards are overpriced for what they are, what were Bandai thinking?
The only real upside is that at least the cards came with the vinyl figures. I've been holding on to these figures for eight years now, so they have some value...especially to those who make custom SHFiguarts. I could turn around and sell them to get my money backish. That really wasn't the case years ago. Nobody wanted those figures unless they came with the cards.
The Tensouder just should have come with the five Change Cards. The other Gosei Cards it came with were special moves and mecha cards. Those cards should have been included with their respective toys... Hahaa.
