Jiyan: Story Of A Female Guerilla Fighter (War Documentary) | Real Stories

  • The fascinating story of Jiyan, a female guerrilla fighter who devoted twenty years of her life in the Kurdish militant struggle, reveals women’s determination for freedom not only against another oppressive regime, but also against the patriarchy.
Jiyan Tolhildan is a young Kurdish woman living in the Kurdish region of Syria. After years of oppression by her family, her teachers and the society as a whole, Jiyan decides to go to the mountains to join the Kurdish struggle for freedom.
When the Arab Spring breaks out Jiyan and her friends decide to go into the cities in Syria to join the protests. They also set out to educate Syrian women on women’s rights in the Rojava region. Now, six years after the Arab Spring, Kurdish forces have a semi-autonomous region in Syria. For the first time in history, women have an autonomous political organisation and an army in Syria. The women named creating this organisation “the women’s revolution.”

I didn't know till this day that the story of the Kurdish women fighters was so deep, convoluted, and imbued with such a deep philosophical meaning. They were fighting in the mountains decades before the Syrian conflict erupted. It's incredible! I was crying half the time of the video because I was touched so much by their struggle, their cause, the hardship of their lives, their attitude. When I look at them I can't help but compare them with American suffragists. But you know, with guns. So the police probably won't crack down on their meetings. There is a long hard road ahead of them, but I have not a tiniest doubt they'll walk it all the way through.

Nobody really asks why are they fighting? It is completely Kurdish racism. Indians in America, Catalans in Spain and so on. If every sub-identity in the countries took up arms and wanted to establish a country in their own name (which Kurds do not want, only Kurdish nationalists), then the world would be nailed. PKK has been very successful in the image given by the Kadines. It has won many people's sympathy. But the facts are not like that. Erdogan If we do not take into account is much more hierarchical and Islamist Kurds from modern Turkey.

Kurds, of course, are heroes, because Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria, has been fighting against the advanced technologies of 4 countries with simple weapons for 100 years and they are suffering very much. But it's not steel, the world must give direct physical support to the Kurds against these 4 fascist countries, otherwise humanity will lose and fascism will win.

@BiJi KuRD u KuRDiSTaN Classical pkk literature. Nothing but lies. Kurds never have stata in history. There were no kurds in anatolia, syria and mesopotomia until Turks qonqured these lands. We took this lands from romans not from kurds. Kurds came from southern mountains of persia. If Turks wouldn't let them live free no kurds could came and spread these lands. If Turks did not let them peshmerge to pass trough Turkish land to reach Ayn el Arab they would be vanished! We even took pkk terrorists via Turkish ambulances and treat them in Turkish hospitals! You are not just ungrateful, you are inhuman! Pkk did tenths of car and live bomb attacks aganist civilians! Even killed lots of infants! You have never had a state and never will. Pkk is demolishing arab and Turkish villages to change demography! But I have a great news for you. You will not always be under protection of western countries and we will never forgive and forget that the meanness you did to the humanity. This is not about kurds, this is about terrorists. Otherwise, millions of Kurds could not live freely in Turkish cities and kurds from syriya won't flee Turkey.

She holds the most successful kills in history for women. There was women in Russia also fighting in the front lines for their country. Japan had the Onna-Bugeisha (women warriors) who fought along samurai. The US had women night bombers in WWII. These things are hardly spoken of.
