When the PU are showing above others head yes they are using it. And yes you are wasting your energy sitting at the front of a pack unless you have the power to do so and are fine to use the energy. And about that guy you lapped. Many give up or just pedal easily when they are dropped from front group. So rule nr. 1 you got to pay attention and put in a real effort to not get dropped from front. If your dropped race is basically over and your not getting back on. So focus on not getting dropped. Doesnt matter how bad your legs feel or whatever. Just give it everything and a little more to hold those wheels. Then recover until next effort. Thats bascially all the tactics you need on this crit circuit. Push as hard as you need on the "hill" to not get dropped. Recover and repeat untill last lap. Ride on;)

Awesome! Appreciate all the feedback and pointers! I'll do my best to not get dropped. It always happens so fast, but as you said, once you get dropped, you're done which sucks.

Yeah, they really took off... Definitely came in flying and I thought I had enough of a lead to coast through.

Not sure. Haven't weighed myself since December, but I've always hovered between 160-165. (at least during training season)
