They are being taken from every comfort they know and they mostly need to learn in those beginning days that you will provide all the love and support and food and water they need. After that is lots of training. I highly recommend positive reinforcement training. It is the training that based on scientific study and evidence has been proven to work most effectively and creates a bond with your pup. Theres an app called pupford 30 days to perfect pup thats awesome for a training guide.
I have loved your videos. I am looking into a bichon frise or the coton de tulear. The coton seems to be a friendlier dog than the bichon which I like. Do you know if the dog is easy to train for bathroom duties? My last dog, a shih tzu was trained to go outdoors but my hubby found all her marks when we installed new carpet. Your dog is a cutie pie.
Honestly, potty training is not breed specific and each dog will be different. We had great success with positive reinforcement based potty training. Punishing for going indoors doesn't teach them to go outdoors but rather makes them try to hide it when they go. Give lots of love and praise for going outside and if they go inside take them out immediately (even if they are still going on your way outside) and reward and praise once they go outside. I've also found trying to use puppy pads or ways for them to go inside only confuse their training. Bichon definitely seem more single person oriented than Cotons and are generally smaller in size.
My friend has a Bichon who is so good. Very social during gatherings at their house and happily going around to each person to visit- though not staying long. But if she's not constantly clamoring for affection from strangers but just briefly being pet, that means she's not needy or anxious which is very good on the long run. She stayed with us the whole time. I know she's very attached to my friend.

Each dog no matter the breed will have its own personality so its important to discuss the type of training you have in mind with the breeder so they can ensure you're matched with the best pup for you. But overall they are very trainable and very smart! Nugget is definitely a food driven dog so positive reinforcement via treats made basic training pretty smooth.
We love our Coton. This breed has tons of personality.
