She's made a complete mess of Alberta's healthcare system......and now she's getting in the way of housing, and ANY federal funding that enters the province!

      The problem for Danielle Smith is Albertans know the power crisis in Alberta is because the UCP Premier and the party spent the last four years, closing businesses, closing schools, fencing churches to shut them down, forcing elementary schools to enforce mask mandates on children and now its pronouns and rainbow sidewalks instead of making sure there is enough power generation to keep the lights on.

      Clearly you need to educate yourself. Carbon tax makes the biggest polluters have to pay for their pollution, for their carbon emissions. Evidence, from countries world wide, shows that putting a price on carbon makes companies look for ways and implement ways to decrease their carbon emissions. A reduction in emissions decreases the carbon in the air that is causing climate change.

      He didn't even ask very tough questions. He didn't ask Smith about Alberta's rank as worst in Canada, tied with Ontario actually, for inequality. He didn't ask Smith about how polls show that only 35% of Conservatives strongly support reducing inequality, while 75% support reducing inequality for NDP. He didn't ask Smith about her stance on worker co-ops and unions, if she is in favour of them or more in favour of private capitalist business growth?
      Smith got off easy, and her supporters are praising her for it.

    Help me understand why the interviewer thinks that electric car owners should not have to pay the carbon tax that is used towards building new roads.

      Firstly the 13.5 cent/L tax is not a carbon tax, it is a provincial tax directly used to pay for road building and maintenance. It was paused by 9 cent/L while gas prices inflated and has now been brought fully back. There was NO increase or new tax in Alberta. The carbon tax does nothing for roads, or much else, of course that is the federal liberal version of a "program". The tool interviewer thinks that you should not have to pay for road maintenance if you virtue signal by buying an EV, because of, well, "free stuff for me".

      I strongly recommend that everyone does some basic research on how the standard 8 hour working day, employment protection rights, national retirement pension, paid sick days, long-term sickness benefit, national healthcare, paid vacation, maternity leave, etc, etc, came into being.
      IF you can be bothered, you will find that ALL of them were proposed and EVENTUALLY brought into being by proponents and politicians who at the time were called progressives or liberals. I emphasise EVENTUALLY, be cause ALL of them were opposed, delayed, watered down, and occasionally rowed-back, when in power, by Conservatives.
      You owe your relatively comfortable long lives to liberals.

      Wrong. Only 17% of federal government revenue comes from tax payers. The rest comes from trade agreements, imports, exports, the retail sector alone contributes almost $1T to our economy.

Such as in Saskatchewan, Scott Moe and his government don't like conditions set by the federal government on the money for housing being given, such as conditions to build housing cities are lacking, so the mayor of Saskatoon has accepted the conditions and has been given tens of millions of dollars to build housing.

      ​@@arkcon714 Look, I have nothing against the PC's, in fact I voted for them several times over the course of my lifetime, but you have to understand that the ethos of conservatism is essentially tax breaks for the wealthy, deregulation for corporations and banks, and cuts to social programs. This is why they are held to a higher standard, we (the working class) need to know just how deep those cuts will be.       The problem for Danielle Smith is Albertans know the power crisis in Alberta is because the UCP Premier and the party spent the last four years, closing businesses, closing schools, fencing churches to shut them down, forcing elementary schools to enforce mask mandates on children and now its pronouns and rainbow sidewalks instead of making sure there is enough power generation to keep the lights on.

    In BC 35% of the population will not get a single cent on the carbon rebate. Of the other 65%, the rebate is adjusted to income. In the next three years, Eby's NDP will collect 9 billion dollars of which he will hand out only 3 billion in rebates. BC is the land of the highest: taxes, cost of living, gas prices, and housing cost. Time for an election.

    Alberta (12% of the country’s population) only gets 2% of the federal funding because Quebec (18% of the country’s population) always gets at least 50% of federal funding, which English Canada pays for as ransom to the separatist blackmail grifters.

    What reporters need to learn is they are not debaters of guests. They should be interviewing guests to gain an insight into a guests' perspective and let the audience decide. That is far more valuable than "Gotya" style of news. Even if you have a terrible person, having their perspective and ideas accurately displayed is better for society to see than trying to do activism pretending to be journalism.

      Well, it is their job to hold guests to account. Especially politicians. Personally i quite appreciated it because Ms Smith never skips a beat and has a strong and sensible answer for every "gotcha" every journalist has ever laid before her. Even Poilievre hasnt kept up with reporters with quite the flair that Premier Smith wields.

      Yes, $ 200 EV registration fee is cheap, I use approx 2,700 litres a year and the Province’s 13 cent provincial gas tax (cheaper than many other provinces at approx $ 351.00) still costs me more than the $ 200 EV fee, plus the $ 200 EV fee doesn’t have GST piled on top of it.
