    It really looks amazing, great job!
    I have a question about the skinks themselves. Where did you get them?
    Because meanly i hear that if you want to buy them you have to buy ones which were captured in the wild and not ones which were bred by people who know what they do. And often reptiles which are bred by people/professionals are much better to keep.

      I got them from a private breeder and I also breed them since I got them some ears ago.
      It's true, there are still many wildcaught crocodile skinks in the pet trade. However, they often are ill and weak and thus die within a few weeks or months. I would always try to find captive bred individuals.

    Guys I need some help. Got my skink 3 days ago (presumably female) around a 1.5 yo. Set up: 40-30-30cm, 80% humidity and 25-26C temp, coconut+moss and drinking bawl, 2 barks to hide. I know they are very secretive and so on, but mine is not reacting on anything AT ALL. She is alive for sure (she changes her pose in her hiding spot under the bark). I mean she doesn't even move her head to look around EVER isn't that too much? I know for playing dead and so on but still, she is too dormant comparing to your or other videos on youtube (even in the videos with "unboxing" them where they r in new environment). But thats not a main problem, the thing is that she doesn't eat still and It's been 3 days. I use crickets but they just walk around her (even on her head) and she doesn't react at all. First day I let 1 cricket to her and she even catch him, held him in her mouth for about 20 mins in the corner of a tank and never swallow him, she just killed him and let him be. And btw this move was the most active from all her life with me. Is this just stress? Any thoughts fellows? Appretiate your help in advance.
    update: sometimes when lying in hiding place she got her eyes half-open like she squints or something

    • @AquaTerra-Life
      @AquaTerra-Life Před 5 lety

      The tank is quite small, temperature should drop at night and not stay that high. Different temperature "zones" within the tank would be perfect, but I'm not sure if that's realizable in a tank that size. However, it is completely normal that you don't see her moving. You shouldn't disturb her every day, this can really stress them. Three days of not eating are no problem at all. Don't take the bark away when you feed, just put the crickets in the tank right before you leave the room and your skink will come out of its hide when she feels save enough to hunt.
      Just give her some time without disturbing, these guys are easily stressed and often need time to settle in. :)

    • @AquaTerra-Life
      @AquaTerra-Life Před 5 lety

      Maybe reduce it to once per day, however this should not disturb her very much in my opinion.
      That's good, it sounded as you would always take away the bark to check her. Then it's no problem. You could put a cloth or something similar on the tank, so that your movements outside the tank don't disturb her.
      I'm not sure how you can cool down the tank. Do you use a lamp that produces heat? You could let it run for shorter periods.
