- It's no secret that the parallels between Meghan Markle & Prince Harry on the one hand, and Wallis Simpson & Edward Windsor on the other, are plentiful. Eerie, even. So I thought, why not start a series to deep dive into all those parallels! And so here we are. For part 1, we'll be looking into Edward & Wallis' "Worldwide Peace Movement" and how it compares to Meghan & Harry's "Worldwide Privacy Tour".

George VI’s coronation was on May 12, 1937 my grandmother missed the coronation giving birth to my father.

Two things that make poor Meg inferior to even Wallis are: 1. Wallis never publicly waged war against the RF, 2. Wallis had some glamour and style. She socialized with e.g. the New York elite in glitzy events Meg will only see from her phone screen. Meg is so incompetent she makes Wallis look like a master operator.

I was a supporter of the brf until the queen passed, and maybe I should take that back to when Diana died. What’s really the point of having a few tortured souls in carriages. I think the aristocracy should quit hiding behind a few public figures, let alone whatever goes into the machinations of maintaining the perfection of the facade. And i don’t think it’s good anymore to force a family to be the shield elites hide behind. At least with an elected first family they can retire after a few years.
I know several real cancer patients. Expecting honest, realistic people to go along with whatever’s happening was a bridge too far. Just call it whatever it really is. Security concerns, needed rest, cosmetic,it’s fine we’d understand. And I don’t like how MM and H get away with what they do as a weird kind of reverse psychology. They need to clean it up and quit treating the public like fools. Disown them for their disrespect rather than using them as a collective punching bag. Hate this, love this? But, Wallis isn't forgotten and Meghan will continue to be an issue until the titles are finally stripped and Harry (and the kids) are removed from the line of succession. For all of the hate that Wallis continues to receive, Meghan is worse and was terrible even before she met Harry.

He may be an arrogant boor but he was a true hero during the Falklands War saving lives as a helicopter pilot unlike the Living Legend of Aviation who killed 25 chess pieces on his XBox in Afghanistan. However, the younger generation don't know about that.

The fact that Queen Elizabeth decided that Sarah was the right person to care for her beloved corgis tells everything I need to know about their relationship.

Obviously he must have seen that she had potential to improve as he married her, and I think there is hope for her to become a useful member of the Royal Family in the "fullness of time". I read extensively about royalty through the centuries when I was younger and am finding it interesting that the pattern of jealous, resentful, younger siblings going to war with the rightful monarch continues right up to present day with hapless Harry. There is also a history of scheming mistresses and wily wives, and Meghan Markle could be categorised as one of those, except that she is not strategically wise and neither is she capable of making the masses love her, so she has made herself irrelevant in every way except being married to a prince. As was the case with past spares and their wives, it will not end well for the Harkles. Harry is too far down the line of succession now to ever be king, and his B actress wife has proved herself to be a piece of trash whose moment of fame is on life support. Edward and Wallace sabotaged themselves spectacularly and we’re seeing history repeat itself.

Wallis tried to get out of it, and Edward basically stalked her, so she gave in, divorced Ernest Simpson, and married Edward. She later admitted in letters that she still loved Ernest. The whole thing was just sad. I don't think she was nearly as vindictive and narcissistic as Meghan has proven to be.
Wallis was, at least, capable of loving 2 men: Ernest Simpson and Herman Rogers. The same cannot be said about Meghan. She only loves herself and no one else.
The continued character assas$ination of Wallis is sad. She made a mistake and paid for it the rest of her life. She tried numerous times to flee and Edward stalked her. He outright told Ernest that he was going to marry Wallis and divorce was inevitable. The tables were turned this time around with MM's obsession with the RF.
People who’ve really studied this part of history in-depth know that Edward abdicated not for love but because his strong ties with the nazis (c/o Wallis) were slowly getting exposed. I believe he felt pressure from Parliament to abdicate and made him save face by allowing him to say that it was all for his love and desire to marry an American divorcée which at that time meant having to give up one’s Royal position.
Not really a romantic story but more of a front story.

The people who wanted him gone, & pushed him ‘off the Throne’ were Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, the PM Stanley Baldwin, the A of C Cosmo Lang. They knew of his laziness, disinterest in the actual work required of a King, his penchant for leaving Govt Papers’, lying around, so anybody could see them. He was unfit to be King, so they got rid of him, or in 1970’s parlance, ‘made him an offer he couldn’t refuse’…………

It doesn’t have to be exact to have comparisons made. I just wrote that there are similarities to Andrew and Fergie too. Selfish, not the brightest lights on the tree, resented representing the Monarchy except in fun things, extremely extravagant and full of resentments and bitterness at not being more respected.
I've been studying the royal family for over fifty years; do I believe Edward would betray his people to the Germans if he thought it would put him and Wallis on the throne? You bet he would. Edward only loved two things, Wallis and money. He was livid when George VI denied Wallis the HRH. He tried everything to get it for her, to no avail until the day he died.
The truth is poor George the 6th had to not only worry about a German invasion where his family would have been most likely been executed, but he also had to worry about his crazy brother the former King who was always stirring up trouble. Winston Churchill finally parked Edward in the Bahamas with Wallis because it was thought he couldn’t do too much damage there. Maybe that’s where they can stick Harry there after he gets divorced.
The Bahamas gained independence in 1973 so maybe send him to St Helena like Napoleon was.

I've never disliked public figures so much as I do the Markles. I started off loving them, stood with other joyful people at the wedding, but then the Markles' masks came down...

I absolutely adore your channel for these well researched videos (and the free flowing conversations with Zach) because so many people just go for the easy, low hanging fruit of gossip but you do not. The Duke of Windsor has another resemblance to Harry: King Edward did not ultimately abdicate because of Wallis. He was maneuvered out by Parliament, who was terrified by his combination of Nazi sympathies and carelessness about his private papers in a time when war looked imminent. They thought he was a terrible king and they wanted him gone. Refusing to let him marry Wallis, when they knew he was obsessed with her, was the easiest way to get rid of him.
In Harry's case, he left on his own steam, but from everything he's said he wanted to leave for plenty of reasons before Meghan ever entered the picture. Again, the woman who is blamed for the situation only happened to be the catalyst. The reality was that both royal men primarily departed for reasons that had nothing to do with the lady.
Harry and Meghan were forced out. I believe that once the pregnancy situation was made aware of, along with other problems, they were given a deal they couldn't refuse.
Everytime someone said NO to H he wanted to leave...and yes he did follow a Woman...just as well he got a little push from his grandmother..thank god...

@@mariarevell4836 In both cases, the woman was the final trigger for their departure, but not the primary cause of it. If the Government couldn't get rid of King Edward by refusing to let him marry Wallis, then they would have either found some other way to get rid of him, or they would have shut him out... de facto prevented him from having access to any important information. They knew they simply couldn't allow him to be a king with full monarchial rights and responsibilities... he was far too reckless at a time when recklessness could easily lead to national catastrophe.
In Harry's case, they effectively did what they might have had to do with Edward if Wallis hadn't been there: they shut him out. Didn't let him have a significant part in anything; and didn't invite him to do much, or anything difficult, in the way of royal duties. Didn't trust him. That was pretty easy to do due to his second-born status, but it certainly made him resentful. And a resentful mind is easy to persuade. First Meghan tried to persuade him to take a bigger role, because she fancied herself in a higher role. Then when she couldn't get a role quite as high as she wanted, she turned around and encouraged him to leave altogether... which he'd already wanted to do for years anyway.

All the Markle had to do was play a part, just like being in Suits. Do what you are told, dress how you should, pay attention to what is going on. Travel all over the world, expenses paid. Cut a few ribbons, etc. She could have easily upstaged Catherine, Princess of Wales. She would be in a castle and had everything she wanted, even a billionaire hubby. If not Harry, another one. But now, she has shown how toxic she is, how much of a diva she is, and is "too old" to snag another.

Traitor King is a good, well researched book. It is very sad the comparisons one can draw. However, when it came to it, Wallis did not want to marry Edward, but felt she had to, after all the fuss.
Both Wallis and Ernest Simpson were social climbers and were thrilled to bits to be included in the then Prince of Wales’ (later King) inner social circle. Wallis had expected David to tire of her and to be cast aside. I think she would have married him if she could be Queen even through a morganatic marriage. This would only be possible if the British Establishment, starting with King George V and Queen Mary, were prepared to accept her. After the scandal broke, she had to flee the country and even urged the new King not to abdicate because she didn’t want the whole debacle to be laid at her feet. Yes, she did not want to marry the ex-King but had no choice.

Some might find that ludicrous but if you look at royal females on foreign (even national) visits, they try to respect each country by wearing, say, a brooch (maple leaf in Canada), a hat (Diana's hat in Japan), the late Queen (white evening gown with lace shamrocks in Northern Ireland). Harry's wife makes a grave mistake if she ignores Sophie who has garnered considerable respect with her quiet attitude.

It was a fascinating read because I saw so many parallels between the two couples-like history was truly repeating itself. Should warn H&M that they’ll have a bitter, empty union where they die alone in exile….Thank you again for doing the research and presenting FACTS and stating rumour or opinion where needed.
