Now I think the most crucial game of our league games played till now is the 4-0 defeat ... It's kicking out the best in united ❤️
The dropping of Maguire n Shaw helped
Playing together and the comeradery between the players, ya can tell it actually means something to them especially the back line I’ve never seen maguire n lidoflop bump chests wen there putting in goal saving tackles! It just feels a lot different with the back four and that’s infectious throughout the team
Dropping Maguire to the bench sparked this turnaround.
Midfield is actually playing now instead of being bypassed, its all about creating space for bruno and erikson to play THOSE passes. Some simple coaching and a mentality upgrade. Defence now looks superb with the new signings, this is helping everything else. All we need now is a striker alternative that can hold the ball and link the play (martial plus a standby - new signing).
Before Ajax he was the manager of Go Ahead Eagles and Utrecht. Smaller teams in the Netherlands so this isn't a new thing for him. He played a sort of same style with them. Later on he went to Ajax and there the possession based style was already in place and he fine-tuned that with his own ideas. I think he needs 2-3 summer transfer windows and then you will see the real ten hag style of play at MU. I really hope he gets the time.
Exactly
What do you mean? He'll win the title this season.
@@footballmg884 who's is talking about winning anything? I'm talking about the style of play. Maybe he wins something maybe not but that's not the point that I made.
@@footballmg884 I don't know why I fill the same
@@footballmg884 yeah am very sure he’s gonna win a trophy this season
We can't discount benching Mcguire and Shaw. It has improved the team 20 %. Mcintominay also performed better in the last match, probably due from the pressure of signing Casemiro.
I think Scott’s playing better coz he hasn’t got the virus (maguire) behind him
You are talking absolute horse dirt. Maguire has no blame in the way United are playing. Both Martinez and Ericksen messed up against Brentford. People conveniently want to forget that.
@@lucasscott5983 I suspect it's a number of factors. Eriksen doing the passing through the lines so McIntominay can concentrate on his strengths, and Fernandes playing a little deeper are also factors. Not having an out of form and severely lacking CB behind can be a factor, of course. Seems strange to me that people are still in Mcguires corner at this point. I'd be surprised if he was still at the club come 23/24 season. OR: Maybe he pulls a "Phil Jones" and just stays at the club forever without a single minute
@@bighands69 huh❓❓
@@lucasscott5983 and ten hag has coached him to be a better player
What I love about Ten Hag so far is how hes adapted his tactics to the players he has in front of him. He knows that after the 3 seasons of players not being trained properly it will take time to play exactly the way he wants straight away. If you look at Mactomannay for example, he is a number 8 being forced to play at number 6. It has shown for nearly 4 seasons that despite a few decent games, he hadnt been properly trained to play CDM he was just thrown in there. The last 4 matches you can visibly see the differences in Scott's game, he is more disaplined in the role. It does help him playing alongside Erikson just like it helped Fletcher when he played alongside Carrick.
Ten Hag has always said, whether we are defending or not we will press ...
the pressing is constant
EtH game management and adjustment is his strong attribute, he didn't settle with his own philosophy, it changed, it adapted.
He also didn't wait to make a change during the game, when he sensed something, he didn't hesitate to make an adjustment.
Something ole was very lacking.
It’s about getting results. He said in an interview during preseason that we want to win our way and even if we don’t play how we want to play, we still have to win. He’s doing just that
YES ,, THE RESULT MATTERS FOR 🏆 ,,, RESULT IS THE WIN ,, THE RESULT IS THE TROPHY
This is one of my favorite tactical video that you made! Really nice.
ETH also said one time that the first year of Pep at city he made that same big mistake. Bye being stubborn and keep the same tactics whitout adapting to the team he had at that time. Greetings from an AJAX fan
So much love from Nigeria SAM. The clarity of your voice.. So soothing. Keep it up with the analytical details..
That’s a crystal clear explanation of Ten Hag’s ball. Keep going mate. 🔥🔥
Win or loose at least we see a pattern ,a fight and a purpose .keep Fighting
No doubt, his pragmatic approach is working. He’s just being wise, adjust till the players get it right.
to be honest even when 1-0 up to Arsenal, the way they were playing made me worried. They are not there yet.
Ten Hag IS wise man, he really is. Very complete and intelligent coach. He’s the real deal
I can’t help but wonder how the team would be now if we had signed Pochettino…somewhere in the gutter. ETH knows what he’s doing. I love his confidence in making timely subs and his style. I love him
Pochettino could've been another Ole. Personally I was going mad when Gary Neville campaigning for him
@@imohitaketo451 me too. I totally agree
Good thing we didn’t get Pochettino, from day one I never wanted him.
@@slimreal1802 Pochettino proved at PSG he cant handle the dressing room.
Players like Martinez Malacia and Antony woudn't be at United now.
big chance that De Jong will come in January if sits on the bench by that time.
Ten Hag has a clear vision of the game thats needed at United.
Highway gutter
Please do a video on Harry maguire and his shocking defending to show how we’ve stopped leaking goals without him
Really good video and research. I think positioning and play without the ball have improved a lot - they players are in the right spots and are hard to play through. This is the foundation for building up successful pressing game like you said.
Thays exactly it. You dont just wake up and play dominating/possession football. That will take time especially if you're hampered by the players you have. Personally I see the "ETH" football in these last four games. It's just not on 90 mins of the game. Martial coming back will make a huge difference and casemiro getting into the groove will take us even further. Finally, next transfer window get a bloody CM that can progress the ball.
IMO the agressive input TH seeks is the force multiplier of the team and teamplayers . Thanks for posting ! Regards from Argentina..Vamos !
Now you understand what Mourinho meant by controlling the game without the ball. Possession football forces teams to block low and Man U has a serious problem against low-blocking teams. This style of conceding possession gives the opponent a false sense of superiority which causes them to commit players forward and get exposed on the counter. This is partly why Conte and Tottenham are winning more games.
OGS had initial success with it too against teams like Arsenal. Smart from 10Hag to ditch his principles and get short term results but little has changed from the teams that Mourinho was putting out more than half a decade ago. This is what got Mourinho and OGS 2nd spot in the league
@@iwantgoals1566 well said. I strongly believe ETH took some time out to study our play from previous coaches. I am sure he was aware of how stubborn lvg was on implementing his philosophy at man u. He took note of how ogs and mou were 2nd playing counter attacking football. So he is gradually implementing his philosophy at the sametime doing what is necessary to get results.
The style of play is only successful when your defense and midfield can soak up pressure from the opposition
@@abdulhameedabu688 Your defence should be able to deal with pressure whether you play on the front foot or on the counter. It's naivete to think you can get away with a bad defence simply cos you can play a free-flowing attack style. Every strong team must have a strong defence as a basic.
It's also easier to put bodies in and around your box (even with average defenders) than to master all the techniques required to play fast flair football or find the energy reserves needed to sustain high pressing for 90 minutes.
Not bashing tiki-taka or anything, but this is a nice default to build from till you can recruit "11 Iniestas".
It also definitely depends on your squad's talent. Look at Man City and L'pool, they play possession based football but are also talented enough to break down teams in a low block
If Real Madrid can do it for the entire of last season why can't we??, Until the players get used to the system. Madrid are playing completely different this season
This is a process... lets remain focused as Ten Hag says... we still have LOTS of work to do!
Wow you've really opened my eyes. I did not notice the possession thing change. I have just wondered why we still played like we did under Ole. Now I get it! Thanks Sam
I liken this to Klopp at Liverpool. He had to fix them defensively and make them hard to beat before they started battering everyone. I think this is what we are seeing here. Baby steps to fix the basics first, and then start the battering people with pressing and passing.
Dalot n mctominay has improved alot this season
Not asking De gea to play out from the back is so smart, you see managers trying to get keepers that can't do it to do it all the time and they all ways make mistakes. Erik's just accepted it can't be like that yet, and he plans around his resources so well
Yeah imagine being a goalie and relying on maguire to bring it out jesus
I’m very very concerned about how things will change with a couple injuries. I feel like Martinez, Dalot, and Ericsson are irreplaceable and any of them being injured will drop our standards immensely like what happened to Liverpool in the 2021 season and now. Anyone else concerned?
Add malacia to that list...
We really hope they don't, atleast until we get proper backup's in the next couple of windows
@@pietvork8302 who's canon
@@pietvork8302 Did you mean Cassemiro? Don’t think so. Unless you mean cassamero and Fred with Bruno ahead. That could work but still not the same
We don't have to wait till injuries. He will rotate players, so maybe against sociedad, bright side is, no hiding place for underperforming players, and we know Erik will be ruthless with those. He said and I quote: " ..we will play with this squad for now..." Players he's not been allowed to get rid of will shoot themselves in the foot.
@@haritpk would you look at that, forgot about this comment till I got a like notification. He did rotate and yes, questions have been raised about certain players, AGAIN. He obviously doesn't rate Bissaka- if that boy had any passing ability, he could be retrained to play CB again, heard he played as one in his youth, however he's not the most composed on the ball either. I really hope Palace do us a solid and take him back. Heck, Forest even, we don't care!🤞🏿
We still need to improve on our possession stats .
Love this video. Learned so much! Thanks bro
It will be exciting to see a tactical battle between Pep and Tag 💥💥
Nice one Sam. Love the content.
Thank you for the analysis. This is what I like to see as I learn more about the game. Thank you
Great analysis, Sam 👍🏾.
and as ETH always says "IT'S A PROCESS"
That first video you played at training is very important.I think it involves 4 players continually passing and moving .I saw this in an iPad app.about 8 years ago. This has to continue in training as it’s common knowledge to all the European coaches.
Great analysis... I bel6ive we are in right direction now, both in passing and mentality...
Great analysis as usual
Waiting for this one! Always enjoy ur post match analysis :)
You can say that Ten Hag manage to control the game without the ball so when they have the ball they can dominate. And that’s how you control the game. He is such an adaptive manager. Even if we don’t see the tactics I’m sure he is doing it for a reason with interesting subs the only thing I’m not understanding is having two goalkeepers in the bench.
Well that's exactly what Mourinho and OGS did for more than half a decade. Hardly revolutionary stuff
ETH doesn't play for possesion, possesion is a result of dominance but never his goal. He prefers a direct approach and playing from back is only to utilize a higher press when out of possesion.
We dont need possession like barca did....we need to win like REAL MADRID did
Awesome content Sam as always greetings from a red in canada
Please play more videos as you explain positions or techniques. Thanks for the great videos as always.
A good football game is like a good song, the space and how to control it is pivotal to provide structure and timing
Weldon Sam ♥️👏
Frenky de Jong will be a game changer for United, if they can sign him this winter.
EtH said during pre-season that he would like players to get used to his methods but before they get used to them completely results matter.
Well, just saw a video on Man Utd FB page on how all 11 players were involved in the build up to Antony's goal. Wow.
Great content 👌
I appreciate your work….ggmu❤️
Good video, like always
Good analysis well done and thanks
Ten hag is honest,
Ten Hag Is honest
Excellent analysis
First comment Sam 💜 I have been watching ur content for the past 5 months. I like the way u present ur vid. Great work!
Please do you have any update on greenwood’s situation….We are really missing his value
We will have to play this counter style football against Tottenham and city
Started watching you last week, love the videos. But STOP telling our tactics to other teams LOL :D Keep it up
The press that people keep talking about can't work without Martial. Rashford either can't or just won't do it. He may have scored two goals, but in some critical moments of the game, especially when United were not in possession of the ball, he was the same guy we saw last season: making little effort to get behind the ball even when the player on the ball was two to three yards away. There's still lots he needs to improve upon to justify playing as a centre forward. United really needs Tony back so that Rashford can play in the wings, which seems to suite him better.
Passing from the back with a ball playing keeper isn't the be all and end all. It's what some fans want, but Erik can easily opt for other tactics, as we're evidently seeing.
This is exactly what Scholes said
Imo we lost the first two games because of the de Jong debacle. Signings didn't get done in a timely manner, so the players didn't get integrated into the system as they should have. Eriksen said as much when he said they are still learning how to play together.
Glazers out!
Has kept Maguire and Shaw on the bench. Used CR7 as a sub.
The tactics are just a bonus.
Under Sir Alex, we always played pragmatic football, We never aimed to play a possession based game, Pep would have won a few UCLs by now had he been more pragmatic, im happy ETH is not a 1 trick pony, he always says, we need to play proactive football but we also need points, clearly talking about embedding his style but also being pragmatic adaptable to win points, counter attack is done in every game, how you think real beat Liverpool in the UCL final ? It works
Erik Ten Hag is really trying his best to bring this team to play an acting football, be able to compete with the big boys these team around.
Now I understanding Ten Hag through this video 😂😂😂😂
great vid
Hold your horses...don't jump the gun yet...we need to get consistency
Eriksen was phenomenal, u wouldn't believe we've got him for free and he doesn't play like he is👌
Possession is not important as goals and points....
Eriksen used to be compared to Kevin De Bruyne
Transitions is the most important in football to possession.
Absolutely. The players need more training in his system or he needs players who fit his system. But in the meantime he has to work with the players he has and play to their strengths.
Even if you add Casemero into thus team I think that we should play this way for the season
The goal from antony. Nobody see it. But
11 players on the pitch touch the ball.
Thats crazy. Because everyone said it is a counter attack. Hahaha wtf 😅
Great team work ,every single players on the field touch the ball before Anthony’s goal
I'm happy with the way that the last Europe's game in the last 15mins thy played faster football and atake more did u note that as well
Factos!!!
Am happy with the four wins on the trot. Ten Hag said we still need to improve massively - we are not getting ahead of ourselves I presume. I will give this man two full seasons to get us up there competing in the latter stages of top competitions and winning 🥇 some. GGMU
No one mentioning that Cristiano has also been benched.
His drama of 'family issues', forcing a move away, leaving the match early during pre-season and not wanting to applaud fans was not tolerated by ETH.
ETH firmly shows Cristiano who's the boss by not letting him move away and then benching him.
Two blows at the same time to silence him and a message for him to grow up despite his age.
Ronaldo hater
@@ikatokiyazaki2343 Nope. Just that I love MANCHESTER UNITED THE CLUB more than him. Club above ANY individual. PERIOD.
The boss said after the last game that he wants the pressing to improve and to be more structured.
My man's work rate been as good as man utd lately❤️
What is Ten Hag's system? Currently he is not playing his system. MU must play better in the attacking 3rd where crosses, cut backs, neat combination passing really can create scoring chances..... which Ronaldo/Martial will enjoy finishing.
I would say Defense and Mid are almost settle now hope the forward ⏩ are ...
If we do we will.get top 4
Please don’t give to much information, other teams can use it against Manu.big fan of Erik
The tactics are there. The versatility from the coach is there. But without breaking the rigidity of Maguire, Shaw and breaking of mCfred then we would have nothing
Except Maguire, Shaw and Mcfred got similar results against teams like Arsenal with similar tactics when OGS was in charge. Rashford scored an almost identical goal to the one he scored on Sunday against Arsenal when OGS took over
Unpopular opinion, Scott Mctominnay is better than Declan Rice by a mile this season
The irony of CR7 starting our first Europa match will not be lost on anyone I imagine.
Fantastic performance against Sociedad, a team sitting in the 9th position in La Liga. The best team in the world lost. Referee and Linesman conspired to hand the small team a win.
Don’t forget Benny McCarthy the attacking coach From South Africa 🇿🇦 the finishing has been better since he arrived
We need a good Cb for backup.. varane is injury prone lindelof isn't good enough and don't get me started on Maguire... Lisa will play mostly Majority of the games but if varane gets out we will need someone good enough to hold it
Eric Bailly. His performance against Liverpool in preseason shows he's good enough to play the system with his ball carrying and pace.
@@wolfswinkel8906 he is simply one of the best and most confident Cb but again he is injury prone so selling all Cbs except Lisa and varane and getting 2 new ones should have been better option (my opinion)
IS the pressing we need to improved upon.Rashford is far better a player when he plays from the left
Still I could not imagine if the key players such as Eriksen and Bruno have injuries…who will replace them? 🙈 Big risk depends on these players at the moment without replacement…
Iqbal, DVB. Granted they need game time and its gotta happen sooner rather than later
Casemiro, Fred, DVB, Iqbal would replace them. Not sure where the "risk" is?
Yeah no talk about how good we are without maguire. He took the arm band back too, when he came on against arsenal wtf is going on.
I don't see why ten hag should change the way we are playing.
4 3 1 2 formation
Dalot Varane Martine Malcia
Erik Casemiro McT
Bruno
Ronnie + Rash
Well what you gonna do with antony and sancho
@@gurmukhsinghbansal479 antony is a killer this is true. It's good to have some bench. If antony starts one of either bruno or eriksen can't, then 433 or 442
I'm a fan of practical football. Sure the fancy tiki-takas are nice to watch but, when the chips are all down, the practical side wins. Always. Look at Real Madrid in their UCL wins. At times, they were wretched. But they still won. Sure they have the talent. But at that level, there are no easy opponents. They can park the bus, they can do a Tony Pulis. The same with all of SAF's sides over the years. There were so many games won with a single goal margin when they just threw everything forward to score that one goal.
Thanks brother. Your content is top notch. Please invite us, too. I would love to throw some little football insight to our fanbase as well.
Letting one of our best defenders Bailly go on loan & keeping the 'terrible twins' in the squad is criminal, when he can complement Varane, Martinez & Tuanzebe game.
If we are Serious about Winning Trophies & being the Best then Sell Maguire to Leicester & Lindelof for £35M each & replaced by Martinez & Lacroix 20M. That would be Excellent Business!
Now, get DeBeek into full speed.
But I want casemiro and Ronaldo start for man United
Eriksen has become our De Jong ... ah ha ha
Please promote glazers out on all your videos
Nothing is complete with us.. everything is still a work in progress !!!
GGMU 😃 👍
Dropping ronaldo to the bench and maguire has been a major improvement, yeah ronaldo scores goals but he aint a team player. And maguire well enough said.
