Chu no Mai is a basic type of dance in Noh danced between quieter dances and faster dances by shites playing beautiful women, aristocrats and crazed women in various different plays.
Part 0 (カカリ): Kakari - Ji (- Dan)
Part 1 (初段目): Dan - Oroshi - Ji (- Dan)
Part 2 (二段目): Dan - Oroshi - Ji - Jigasira - Ji (- Dan)
Part 3 (三段目): Dan - Fukikaeshi - Ji - Jigasira - Ji - Tome
The performance is based on "Matsukaze(松風)". The flute is in the key of Oshiki(黄鐘). The music is in the form of a cycle of Ryo-Chu-Kan(呂中干形式). At the beginning of the piece, a special notation called "Iroe" is played.
