Thank God we had the 70's and 80's music because there is no good music anymore.
So true@
Teardrops fill my eyes
Music today disgraceful
Half naked women acting ridiculous
Most musicians seem loaded boring😮03 30 24
What is this 60s great
Changed my life
This was '69. The middle of the Vietnam War. Our young guys were being drafted and fighting and dying. Student unrest on college campuses all over the country. Political and racial unrest. Sound familiar to today? Pray for peace and brotherhood in the world 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I listened to this song late at nite on Armed Forces Radio Da Nang Vietnam in 1969. They played the long versions of these song after midnite. Gun watch on Hill10 in I Corps. I had a little 9volt radio my Dad sent me and this is how i kept in contact with the World then. Outstandinding Marine!!!
God Bless
Thank you for your service
The history of rock and roll can never be written without Tommy James. A legend.
TJ and bandmates wrote better than L&M and J&R.
i agree
I Was watching Breaking Bad and this song started playing, I instantly got on youtube and had to replay it atleast 5 more times! Being the 1st day of summer 2022, It was just a whole vibe man! What a great classic!!👍🔥🔥🔥
Just be aware, it's about finding Jesus, not smoking meth..I've done both and worshipping Jesus is a much better high.😁
Thats awesome, I do that too. I hear one Tommy James song and I have to play them all.
Try listening to the whole lp
For that time, i was watching the earliest episodes of Breaking Bad. One day, listening to music on youtube came out of this song, and i thought: "Mhhh, this song fits perfectly for Breaking Bad." :))
This song was one generation's precursor to the problems of a stale and military -industrial complex society. To this date, WE, THE PEOPLE ARE NOT FREE. As Marilyn Manson says in Mobscene, "Freedom is not free at all; the oppression is great."
Note: I was a political blogger, 7 years...successful. Twitter cut my site 7 times. As well as Facebook, and my dead Son's Facebook.
We, the People exist in a machine.
One of the greatest songs ever recorded. Absolutely a classic
As good as any British Invasion ditty ...better.
An all-time favorite. I remember it playing at the swimming pool we went to, the hot sun and the sparkling blue of the water, the sun shimmering on the waves....Aaaaaahh..............

I was born in 1965 but my brother and sister were much older than me and I grew up with music from the '60s and early '70s! These songs are classics and what made rock and roll great! I later became radio broadcaster and still love playing and listening to the music of the '60s and early '70s! Thank you for posting this video and this song... it's timeless!
Me too...1964 here.
I have this on a 45. One of my favorite groups. I Think We're Alone Now, one of my favorites from Tommy James. Your name sounds familiar as a radio DJ. Any station in SoCal you may have been on?
My all-time favorite song from Tommy James & The Shondells-Still sounds awesome 55 years later.
My Dad died in 2020 at age 86, , but Tommy James songs were some of his favorites, and always remind me of him. There was a sharing of generations created by TJ and the Shondellls. This music should always be considered classic for it's ability to cross the tastes of generations. Great talent endures.
Being an oldie but goodie myself these songs still do it for me.
I have listened to this song for 50 yrs now, at least once a day. It never gets old My all time favorite song. Thanks Tommy for such a lovely song
I'm glad there's still people like you out there
One of the greatest songs by one of the greatest talents of all time.
Ha I haven't heard it in 50 years!!!
Definitely 💯 I feel it....
My too
MY FAVORITE FAVORITE SONG EVER. I was 15 when it was released. 1968.
Such a beautiful song that lifts my spirits every time I listen to it ! Still listening at 58 !
Me too, same age as you, wonderful music!
I'm 65. My number one all time favorite. #2 temptations - just my imagination #3 Beatles - in my life
I’m 56 years old and these classics keep you grounded. Music that makes a mark in history will live forever. Just think, I was 3 years old when this song came out, I’m still listening to this groove.
Still love this in 2024.....Wish the world knew what was in store....This song is prophetic.....Revelations 21: 3 through 5. Real talk. ❤
Alot of his songs have been covered but i do not think that anyone could do this classic gem justice.🖤
Absolutely. This song belongs to Tommy James and the Shondells. It expresses his and their truly felt feelings about the love of the brotherhood of man and respect and LOVE for the ONE who looks down with LOVE. Loved this song since I was 16 am now 70
Agreed.
3:39 That last kid dancing brings a tear to my eye. He's just feeling it and cutting loose, youthful innocence. A nice time capsule of '68: peace demonstrations, love-ins, go-go dancers, Nixon, Vietnam helicopters on tv, psychedelic colors.
I remember this song well- this was California music to me. Yep- and I was born in California. This song is really about where I was, and still am, in my head. Wow- I’ve been sooooo sick that thoughts of dying have been flooding my mind. Thanks to this song I got away from that thought for a bit. 🙃☺️❤️
man the late 60's were a Golden Age for music.
Come rock in satx
can't really argue with that.
Robert Perry
Fuckin A, brother!
You are so right!!
The 60’s period, breddah.
In these strange times that we are all living through right this moment, it is so refreshing to listen to the lyrics of Crystal Blue Persuasion! In 1969, I was 23, it was the height of the Viet Nam War and our country was in turmoil, how I miss those days of firsts, mini dresses, go go boots, free love, and so much more! Don't really think how lucky we all were at that time, to be free and want to do as we wanted, it clearly changed the way this country made decisions and how we thought, it opened us all up, maybe even more so for those that were tripping on acid, but never the less we all got thru it, and if you listen to the lyrics of this song, we can all have hope that we will get out of this cloud that we are all under! This song is one of the best ever made and we should all take these lytics to heart....God Bless us all!
Retro
Was 23 also, in the AF Reserve. Learned the chords to this and played it over and over.
Thank you for sharing
LEGENDARY 🤔
Maybe if some of the assholes in Washington would eat a tab trip for a minute listen to some of the old tunes they could possibly change
Tommy was an underrated star!!!
Possibly the best song ever made. Note: The vibe that the guy at the end of the video is feeling is indescribable
Drafted in 69, loved this at Bragg, basic training, ground pounder, country boy, oh , what a shock😳😳
Bless you brother. Spent time in Bragg. 82nd and Then SF. 70s and 80s. Missed nam due to age.
Still have the 45 RPM Record from when Crystal Blue Persuasion was first released, a song that will never, ever grow old.
I was 8 years old when this came out in 1969. Attending summer day camp in Tarrytown, NY this played literally every day on radio of the yellow mini school bus (i.e. maxi van) that shuttled my brother and I to/from the camp. As with the bus to/from school during the school year, the songs that played on the radio are ingrained forever in my memory. Back then, even the AM radio played classic stuff like this, Stephen Stills 'Love the one your with', Harry Nilsson's 'Without you', the Tokens 'Lion sleeps tonight', etc. Man, the music of today just pales by comparison. Even my 10 year old son, who has been playing guitar since he was 6, can't stand to even hear 95% of what is played on the radio. How lucky our generation was to have grown up with such music.
So true!
My sister had this vinyl album. My other sister & I played it for about a year before she came to take it back. We had to listen to the eight track of Travelin instead in the car. About 10 years old 1970 ish. I believe this to be his greatest work. Never gets old.
Old School song back when I was a little boy now I'm an old man and this is still one of the Greatest Songs ever recorded
RIP mom & Dad brothers & sister aunts.

@@willjenkins3529 how can u say that? None of us know if God is really real. For all we know he's really the devil.
This song is the hymn of my generation!... I'm 75...
Sitting in Allen’s Landing \Houston, Texas. Listening to this live band. Wasting time before I board a flight to Vietnam. Crazy times. Thank God, I made it home after two tours. 2nd Battalion 9th Marines. Khe Sahn ‘68.
Thank you for your service, sir. #Salute
This song always played on my roommates alarm to wake us up. We were studying to be a registered nurse. In our junior year the Army Recruiter visited our class and my roommate signed up to join as did several other of my classmates. Senior year after we graduated she went to Fort Sam Houston for basic training and then was sent to an Evac Hospital in Vietnam. She was there for a year and when she came home she really didn’t talk about it and I didn’t press her.
73 … going on 37 …Timeless music..🎼🎸🎹☺️👍
Turned 64 today I was 13 yrs old when I first hears this on a transistor a m radio the size of a deck of cards. Dang I love to go back to the days of my youth!

Why is this fabulous tune never played on the radio???!
You would have to listen to a "golden oldies" station.
Yeah. Good question
It was...non stop back inthe day....from an old man who lived in the most incredible time for music.
It is on 94.5 Phoenix

Just one of my All time favorite tunes to start my new morning and day I've listened to it for better part of fifty years at least once a day and somehow it doesn't get old especially for this old 64, hippie
I was only 6 yrs old when this song came out in 69', loving it at 57 in 2020! 🥰
He was inspired by his reading of the book of Ezekiel where it speaks of the Blue Shekinah Light which represented the presence of the Almighty God and the Books of Isaiah and Revelation where it speaks of a bright future of a brotherhood of mankind living in peace and harmony.
This song will never age, 2020 and this sounds fresh
2021. Same feeling
Yes thats correcto 2021
Every once in a great while a song comes along and it's an instant timeless hit. This gem was released in 68' and will remain a timeless classic for eternity.
Of course

This song is a Masterpiece!!!
This was my era. I'm 75 now and the Coronavirus is relentlessly wiping out the past
This and other timeless music will always live on
Sometimes it looks like it's wiping out the future too.......🥺🥺🥺
One of many acts that I had plans to see in 2020 until COVID came along. :(
I can relate, I am 73.
Age wipes out the past too. Thank God for the internet and songs like this to remind the young of those that believed about peace and love! So take heart!
All these years later, and this still sounds sooo good!
Wayyyy!!! ahead of it's time! Great song.
Man. When that Hammond comes in… completely changes the entire complexion of this tune. It’s beautiful.
Hammond. The Sound. The Soul. The ONE.
Just sayin’.
I'm a guitarist and there is nothing better than having a B3 to lean on behind you. Ex: Gregg Allman.
This is such a beautiful song.
I was 14 the first time I heard this song and so many like it .This is such a beautiful music to me . It was in 73 and I didn't know a vowel or consonant in english but my older sister and I started buying records in english . Sort of wannabes , we wanted to start exploring the newness of moving form the country life to city life . We moved from the middle of Mexico to Tijuana . Thanks for posting it.
People were nice back then the world.😊😊😊😊
This will always be here, no wannabe people
Five days into 2020 and this song still speaks volumes....thank you for this masterpiece.
JESUS IS What Tommy
Is Singing about and how the world need to let go of hate for your not my RACE.......
@Beumadine Sweevy I will not play word semantics with you
Obviously you wasn't around for the Civil Rights Movement
This is one of the song that was being sung on the radio at the at that time just like the Rascals singing we got to be free I never said
Tommy was Christian
I said he singing about
JESUS... Learn how to read before you talk to me about what I'm talkin about
..masterpiece..?.. ok..could be right up there with canon in D..
This song was thanking God for this beautiful world. 1968 Rocked!
I feel first to pray to our Divine Heavenly Father to be able to "Share Freely' to all brothers and sisters who also might be asking in heartfelt prayer, why there is all this hate and prejudice throughout the world and what is it that those so-called geniuses and religious scholars could not have thought to come up with some honest to goodness True Understanding of what our Divine Heavenly Father had His Beloved Son Jesus Christ sent here on His beautiful livable planet to say that our True Most Merciful Creator God had created those magnificent beautiful other families of the living sea, air, and land creatures 🐮🐷🐔🐣🐓🐃🐄🐖🐖🐑🐑🦃🦃🦌🦌🐇🐇🐳🐟🦞🦞🐝🐝to also live free and in a peaceful harmonious way with the one other beautiful families on this magnificent beautiful livable planet, and not to be bought and sold with their deceived stolen stamped PAPER currencies and dangerously blasted ROCK to be minted into metal coins. And, so my brothers and sisters believe it when I tell you that when you come to really make that changed to want to be healed and forgiven by our Divine Merciful Heavenly Father, He will then open up your eyes, hearts, and minds to want to stay eating the fruits, vegetables, grains, and nuts, and this is what all those bible scholars had taught programmed every brother and sister ever since those not yet born again Christians to then watch them act out some ritual that was to think you would be receiving some Divine Miracle of Healing or Forgiveness for all the unclean acts we were doing. And so it is when a brother or sister might say that the one most important things for every sister and brother to really realize is that our Heavenly Father has truly brought to us here in this country and at this time for all to take all you possibly can to pray to stay doing the True Healing act of Love for All Gods' male and female creatures to simply try and share to all that they are not to be bought or eating, and the more we can educate our Good Shepherds Honest to Goodness Truth to eventually bring more to see a definit evolution and a Real Healing from our Holy Fathers Merciful Forgiveness and His True Blessed Peaceful Solution for all brothers and sisters and to also come to understand that we were born into a evil corrupt system so we need to also bring up something our hearts need to feel and it's about the True data & stats of how many newborn deformities and diseases that never get brought to every brother and sisters full attention, and it seems like so much of what one who is now sincerely seeking and truly wanting our Holy Fathers Revalation can type their questions and be able to find out how so much of our histories of the ways mankinds stubborn egotist sickness and unrightous ways just seem to not have any better solution to be closer to the True Wisdom of what Blessing our Merciful and Forgiving Holy Father has for all those who have come to taken to doing an honest to our Divine Creator Gods Commandments. So we must also believe we have the Greatest of our Holy Fathers Gift of the Holy Spirit to go forth and freely get out to share all that what Christ Jesus had taught us to do that and He would be with us always, and we continue giving all Praise for His Glorious Gifts of The Spirit Amen.

This is a Latino community oldies favorite.....Thanx tommy!!
And black. Even though I'm black. I appreciate the Latino community and art and fashion and culture. Black And Brown unite. Music has no color but only a soul.
The most blessed years of all times: the 60's.
may be for the rich spoiled kids that became the hippies but for everybody else if you were lucky enough if you were not fighting the war in vietnam it is was business as usual. Nostalgia can be a weird thing.
@@chais1111 Unlike today, the US economy was still solvent in the 60s, the debt threshhold hadn't yet spiralled out of control. Wages and salaries still kept good pace with the cost of living. Jobs were plentiful in most areas, and most manufacturing still happened here in the US. The stagflation and oil crises of the 70s hadn't yet hit. There was no war against petroleum fuel, no critical race theory or transgender insanity in schools. I could go on and on. There's much to recommend the 60s over today -- just maybe not for the same reasons as the OP.
Why can’t life be simple and full of love!!??
Man... The times, the memories

This song is about those who are in Christ. Tommy studied the celestial, when he discovered the book of Ezekiel in the HOLY scriptures, and there was above the firmament in appearance like a sapphire stone(Ezekiel 1:26). Chrystal blue persuasion (It's called...A Balcony of blues).
