One of my BEST day's on the bay

Well I sure ticked all the boxes on this session!
Hit the shallows for some reef fish action and wasn't disappointed with some quality snapper hitting the deck.
Then it was off fro a drive to try find the giant herring and found them I did! Too much fun had me stuck catching these high-speed, high-flying fish before I needed to go go to the deep stuff before the wind got up.
I dragged myself away from bitting fish and hit harries for a big snapper. One cast and I had the big bite but was it a giant snapper?

Hey Peter just wondering what poundage are you using out there? Especially those snapper you don't seem to tire them out. I usually fish somewhere between 6lb to 20lb and occasionally 30lb leader. But am. Thinking i might go stronger for reef sessions.

Hey mate, 10lb leader fishing the reef edge for snapper and sweetlip. I find the fish in super shallow can be leader shy with soft plastics.

Oh and at harries I use 16-20lb leader as again, heavy leader can put them off.

Warm soapy water mostly mate. After washing the boat, I sponge plenty water over them. Seems to do the trick hey.

I'm always amazed at how fast it blows up out there between peel and the point. With the fish that had a PHD in leader shredding broke you off, you said you thought it was a bluey. Is that a blue parrot?

Yeah Lisa it can turn very quickly and I look at many weather forecasts and add the tide into the equation. Not overly keen on being out there when it’s rough….
Yep ‘blueys’ are Venus tusk fish I’m pretty sure. Most are caught on specific live crabs but I think a big one likes my 3.5” grub!
