I just got back into comics (and Lego lol) recently and im not even sure about how I stumbled upon your channel but just want to say your channel was an easy follow, and I like how you cover a lot of the basics in other videos offering a great way for newbies to get informed about the world of comics and comic book collecting!

Great video man! Just subscribed. I think I’m going to keep DC infinite when my subscription expiration date comes up. I’ve recently got into reading and aside from convenience, I’ve been using it to explore more characters than what I knew as a kid. I’ve also been using it to not blind buy omnibus since I don’t have a lot of space.
They have a lot of content but sometimes it’s difficult to find specific stuff. Like I wanted to read Green Lantern Emerald Dawn but couldn’t find it so just accepted it and moved on.

Atleast classic stuff is there. BJ likes to pretend that these modern books are good but he knows hes fronting.
It's worth it as your only other option is to purchase a number of graphic novels and collections that would cost you a lot more. My only issue is that they rarely add old comics from the 70s and 80s in favor of new comics which I do not have much interest in.
Good thoughtful pros and cons there. I think I'll be renewing my subscription as it offers me a chance to try other series I wouldn't never have dipped my toe into. Plus the savings of £4 a comic soon make its beneficial.

I appreciate the video. My ultra subscription lapsed also, and I have been debating if I wanted to re up.
I had Ultra at the $99 price, but I cancelled because books stopped loading when I was reading. I kept getting Alfred's "can't connect". They gave me a workaround, but said I couldn't download books with the setting change. Well, I was never able to download books anyway. It's a shame because I'm a huge DC fan, but if I can't download or read what I'm paying for, there's no point.
Dude. Dude. DUDE. I fuckng hated Alfred because of this app. Constantly showing up every time I turned a page, I'd get anxious it was going to crash...
Thanks for breaking this down clearly for everyone. Helped me come to a decision. Love the idea, but Collected Editions is really my only draw, and I don't think that alone is worth an additional $45

Good review. I also want to throw out that sometimes there is a sale to get your membership during Black Friday for new members. Thats how I got mine last year I believe!

The thing that swayed me from even renewing my subscription is the fact that my library or hoopla can will most likely have what I need or want.
my local library doesn't put comics on hoopla, which sucks. lol

Man I miss Hoopla! My library doesn't offer them anymore. Hoopla wanted more money from the library in my area for the service so they dropped it. ☹️
About to learn things this morning
I'm a physical comic collector and it's satisfying to get them on the release date. And DC ultimate doesn't have certain DC books on it.

No special upgrade offers that I’ve seen. But I think if you purchased an annual plan, they’ll give a prorated refund of the difference if you upgrade
I just use basic i dont mind the wait i work fulltime and game and play music and im the only person i know who likea comics 😢 so its all new to me

Shonen Jump allows you to access new chapters weekly and the back catalog for less than three bucks. That's why anime and manga are surpassing comics.
Hows connectivity lately? I would subscibe forgetting this issue and then freak out 😅 Did this like 3 times since it came out. I miss the video/movies too...That was awesome while ot lasted.
I still have issues with buggy pages a few times a week. If that wasn’t an issue, the app would be perfect in my opinion.
Good write up here (speak up, technically, since this is all spoken) but I have a slightly different takeaway from this. I think Ultra is PRECISELY for the kind of person who has been buying physical issues. Think about how often you'd say in The Pull List about how you were behind but got caught up on Ultra. There were so many series that you'd say "I can't lie, I'm like 4 issues behind on this." Those were issues you read digitally. What'd you do with the physical editions once you read it digitally? Bagged em up and put them in the shortbox? How many videos did you say "at this point I should just drop this and read it on Ultra." I see Ultra being for people who want a convenient and cheaper way to stay current on DC, regular Infinite for people who want to read backlogs, and physical for people who want to collect.
I agree with you. I just think it’s a little redundant if you plan to CONTINUE buying single issues after you subscribe. In that case, it’s more about the convenience of reading digitally and you have to decide if that convenience is worth the cost.
If you were planning to replace your physical buying habits with this subscription, then it’s both a convenience AND a cost savings. Which is a lot easier to justify.
I would also add for con for going ultra tier is pretty much helping put comic shops out of business.
I’m not sure that’s the case. It seems like the audiences for digital and physical comics are completely different from each other. People like us who do both are rare. My experience with Ultra, being such a DC fan was that I was buying way more issues because I wanted to own the stories I was enjoying.
I wish ultra has monthly. I’m broke DC I got tuition to pay. I don’t care if I end up paying more than annually.
I think 30 days after release is a bad business choice. People could abandon many titles and hurt DC long term. Plus hurt stores.
I may be an outlier, but that wasn't my experience. 30 days after release helped me stay current on almost everything, and caused me to continue buying several titles that I may not have even started otherwise.

If I read something digitally that I really liked, 30 days after release allows me the option to hopefully go track down a physical copy at my LCS if want to start collecting physical. I don't do DC Ultimate (yet anyway), but I do Marvel Unlimited and also physical copies every week. I can't tell you how many times I've read a title digitally and then went on a quest to find the whole run physically.
I also subscribe to the ultra tier. When my subscription come to end? I will be subscribing to the cheaper annual subscription of $74.99 a year.

I hope that just NOT BUYING them will send a message to DC. DC only had 6 releases last Tues.....but almost 25 covers....many at over than $3.99. Don't fall for the foil covers scam either!
Majority of books are $5 plus now 😩
