Loved your tips! I've crocheted for over 60 years and learned some new things just by watching this. You're very good at explaining where to put your hook in, etc. I love clear instructions that also use the correct terms. It also helps those that don't know the correct word to learn it. I've been seeing some call crochet knitting or hooks needles and it drives me crazy!

I'm an old crocheter, yes I'm old and I've been doing it since my grandmother taught me as a child to challenge me and keep me entertained, I was about 5 or 6. She taught me with crochet thread and a very thin steel/metal crochet needle. Did lots of baby blankets for my friends, my two kids and my grandson and my daughter's friends' babies.
I loved your beginners video, not only did it remind me of when I taught myself (say taught cause my grandmother did not live here in USA) and growing up did not have CZcams, Google, or video calls. I come from the encyclopedia, book learning world (70 Yrs). But I want to thank you for making this video for the beginners that wish to learn this old beautiful art of crochet. You explain so easy and I learned how to keep those edges straight today, and refresher course on weaving the ends, I don't like that part and always looking for new ways. OK this got long, please keep those videos coming. Thank you, ALMEDIA.

My grandma auntie would come down every year when I was a little girl. Every year she would bring me yarn and needle and every year I would tell her auntie Melida I just cant do this....her reply would all ways be just keep trying my dear and you will get it. Sadly she passed on before I could show her my first blanket. I have since crochet baby blankets and donated them in her name. Sadly I stopped due to an unforeseen family tragic event. These tips are great! I do also wanna add this for people making amigurumi projects:
When making single crochets, do an “x” stitch instead of a classic “v” stitch. Basically, instead of wrapping the yarn clockwise on the first step, go counterclockwise. This will help mitigate holes in your projects if they’re problematic with “v” stitches

Here's my method to make a slip knot: Wrap the yarn twice around two fingers (slightly spread apart), with the second wrap further from the fingertips than the first. Insert your hook under the first wrap, hook the second wrap and pull it out under the first wrap. Slip the yarn off your fingers and pull. You not only have a slip knot but it's already on your hook ready to start.

When starting a new ball of yarn, I start it from the middle of the ball. You'll see that at one end the hole is a bit bigger than the other side, i kind of fish for the end of the yarn in there and pull it out, that way the yarn doesn't wobble around when you use it.
Sometimes I put it in a ziplock bag thats about as big as the ball of yarn and seal it so that there is just enough room for the strand of yarn to come through, the ziplock bag helps to keep the yarn clean in messy environments.

If you do need to do a chain and are worried it is going to be too tight, just use a bigger hook, either a half or full size up from the size hook you will need for the area you are working on.
