Would love an Icelander opinion on the recent funeral held for the glacier (due to climate change )
Also please cover the Icelandic naming system. There is an app (called Bump) that exists that allows poeple to establish degrees of separation, if its still used. I know vidoes have been done on this app before, but I think your perspective would give a different angle to it.
The healthcare system & it differs for natives & non natives.

I love the Jens videos. I really enjoy listening to his accent and opinions, and I really like how he lets his words breathe. Please would you consider boosting his audio slightly? I am hard of hearing and I find the music makes him unclear.

@14:32 Icelanders speak the best English with the most beautiful accent absolutely. I wish it was as easy for English speakers to learn Icelandic... so complicated... as many rules as exceptions..x
Really nice video as it presents a thoughtful and informative look into Icelandic culture and answers real questions of interest. As an aside to Jens comments regarding emergency services, in 33 years I can safely say no one has ever called us to show off the really clever thing they have done.

Have a couple of friends in Iceland that used to live in Norway. Jens seem to live in a fishing town like my hometown up in Northern Norway. Getting the details from the local people is always interesting. You got the best video blogs from Iceland as far as I can tell. Well done!

This interview reminds me a lot of my Slovak mom, and my grandparents. Which I realize is Slavic and not North Germanic , mannerisms is not far off. Wish I was taught as a child. Love this

We were in July 2019 in Iceland. Hotdog, Hamburgers and French fries in every gas station and every restaurant at the sightseeing points. Nature and chunk food. What I learned from the tour guide is that most of the roads were build from American forces, they left Iceland 2006. The long winter days cause depression and use of drugs in the younger population and they are trying to fix it with light therapy. For the tourists it's all well organized, but sometimes I had the feeling I am in Disney World where the castles are replaced from a beautiful nature.
Hot dogs are VERY popular in Iceland!
I believe in elves too, my house is full of them , specially during Christmas but i think they keep me company all year around and i live in Florida.

Almost 20 years ago I had the pleasure of visiting Iceland. Fantastic place, loved it but unfortunately haven't been able to go back.

I am born and raised in Ísafjörður, and moved back home when I retired. I cannot place Jens, but I will certainly have known his parents or, all else failing, his grandparents. Hverra manna er Jens? (What is Jens's kin?)
I have since then "grounded" Jens! His father, Fylkir (for a while a renowned swimming champion in our town - and Iceland), was born and raised in Fjardastræti 11 and I was born and raised in Fjarðastræti 19, only 3 houses apart. His aunt Gréta was my classmate in school.
Hi! First, thank you again for all your terrific videos! I just left you another message but I felt compelled to comment again since this video has a lot more of Jens speaking, which as I mentioned in my previous message, is helping me learn how an Icelandic person speaks English and thus how their accent comes through. Please thank Jens for me for helping me with an audition on Friday. :) There really is a lot of breath in their pronunciations, yes?

Coming from where I live in America, its completely normal to see someone stop in the road and you just go around. Seeing it from another perspective is eye opening. Like... Yeah lol, that is annoying and dangerous lol. Why do we do that haha.
The US is probably one of the only countries where a foreign language isn’t mandatory to graduate high school (in most states). Foreign languages are an elective coarse.
I personally believe that at least two years should be required, I’m not saying to fluency level, though that would be nice. When learning a foreign language it helps raise your English grade--in a way it’s like taking two English classes & you also learn about the culture if the class is taught correctly
Q: How are senior citizens treated? Are there many opportunities for entertainment and life enrichment (etc.) available? Are there (good) housing opportunities targeted specifically for seniors...planned subdivisions, gated communities, high-rises, etc.? Basically, do seniors with ample money enjoy a good quality if life (and end of life) in Iceland? Are visitors severely limited in the time they can stay each year? Is the process of obtaining permanent residency daunting? You could do a whole video on Icelandic old folks....go interview some....they'll tell it like it is. Thank-you

You need to turn down (or turn off) the muzak. It is difficult to understand someone with a substantial foreign accent when the music almost drowns out some of the things he says. Either that, or add subtitles. Every word you speak is perfectly clear, but his - not so much.

Can People find Vegan foods easy to buy as a healthy option
From the videos i've watched you havn't talked much about off-road driving. The dangers, conciquences and damage to nature when people drive off road are not things that should be brushed off as 'comon knowledge' cause it has become more frequent with the rise of tourism

I don't understand the big deal about a car stopping on the side of the road for someone to take a photo. I'm a photographer and 2-3min driving to get to a parking spot make a huge difference in terms of view angle. Ok, I wouldn't stop if in a blind spot, I would make sure I can be spotted from a good distance but, it's not like thousands are driving at highway speed, how can there be accident?

I agree about the impact of tourism on the environment in Iceland, as anywhere else. But the environment is even more fragile in Iceland and I really hope the Icelandic authorities will take measures to control it.
Mass-tourism is a plague
The big deal is you make it unsafe for the drivers that have to go around you. B/c there isn't room for you to pull off & leave enough safe space for others to pass you. Maybe you won't care if someone gets hurt b/c of your selfishness but I would.

Maybe Iceland should invest in park rangers to prevent ' the rich and ignorant tourists from certain countries, yes mostly USA included ' making a mess of unspoiled nature, instead of investing in extra airport space

It's probably not any worse than anywhere else but it's not viewed with quite the same negativity as so many countries do and as a result people are more likely to get help. That in return does make it look higher because it's talked about and is more in the open.

From CZcams, I am finding Icelandic people to be the most boring people I have ever heard. We plan to visit their unique country in the summer. I hope I can enjoy the people and their culture.
So they say that over 50% of Icelanders believe in the huldufolk, but how many of the ones that say they believe ACTUALLY believe? Seems to me like Jens doesn't mean it when he says he says they are real. I think that's their way of cherishing the traditions of their forefathers, kinda like how we tell our kids that Santa is real. Icelanders strike me as far too sensible and pragmatic to have a magical worldview. Or am I way off? Has anyone met Icelanders that are sensible and intelligent but still 100% believe that elves are real?
If Icelandic media is anything to go by, the older, more rural folk tend to believe in the old folklore while the younger generations are more "pragmatic" in regards to it.
Betcha it is muskovite tourists that give Icelanders the biggest issues.

Do Icelandic women shave thier armpits?
It's not a cultural thing to shave or not shave, just personal preference. That being said, most Icelandic women shave in the same traditional ways as American women.
