Yeah but big percentage of the world is not that way that's the way we need to be we are good but we need to be better and treat more people respect and kindness
I've always done this even when I was a kid. Elderly people and pregnant women. Always the first to offer a seat. I grew up knowing that it's a decent thing to do.. that you should offer your seat to someone who may need it more. I remember a particular time being 8mths preg with my son 4yrs ago and was stood up a good half hour into a packed 50-minute bus journey. Of course I didn't just expect anyone to get up, but I do remember it was largely full of men, and definitely not elderly men in the front seats. As the bus cleared slightly (but still with no available seats in sight)... a little woman aged around 60 something I'd say, met eyes with me and suddenly got up and said "Ohh here love sit yourself down!!" I said thank you but it's ok I'm alright and she replied "No love, come on. I'm getting off in about 5 mins anyway. How long have you been stood up?" I said about half hour. She looked at me with part empathy but with some kind of part familiarity.. like she knew what it felt like being exhausted, hot and 8mths pregnant. She turned to look back to the bus and surprisingly took my hand and lead me through the bus to her empty seat. I sat down and smiled as I thanked her, she smiled back and then said "Well, if they don't know how to do it, it's up to us to teach them isn't it love." .. I knew exactly what she meant. I'll never forget that woman. A true gentlewoman. 👭❤🤰💪🏼🌎♀️👯♀️
Being pregnant is so hard on the body. It’s always so sweet and appreciated when someone gives you a little break to sit. I have done it for others too bc I know they need it. ❤
I am so glad to see this as a pregnant woman myself. Few days back I saw a post on fb asking if people should give up their seats on public transport for pregnant ladies and it's really saddening to believe that many people did not agree on it. Many of them wrote that it was that lady's choice to be pregnant and a stranger(even though perfectly healthy) is not obligated to offer the seat. The lady should arrange personal travel if she wants to travel while pregnant instead of being an 'inconvenience' to others. After reading many such replies, I felt so hurt and sad at the people's thought process as a society. I wondered where humanity disappeared. Not everyone who decides to be a mom can arrange for personal travel. Not everyone is privileged enough. I am glad though that humanity and people like this still exists who do care for pregnant women.
I would agree on it 100% I don't care if a thousand people told me not to give up my seat I will still do it no matter what even if the lady wasn't pregnant I was still offering my seat for her to sit down that's just what a gentleman should do
@@abelcarrazco6928 I appreciate you thoughts. But I guess the general rule should be anyone regardless of their gender should be offered a seat if they are not healthy.
You never know if someone is “ perfectly healthy “ 🤷🏻♀️ I look perfectly healthy, but I often faint and have spikes and lows in stamina. There’s some medical issues I have that make me unable to stand on a bus for longer than 5 minutes, yet I do look perfectly healthy. And being pregnant doesn’t mean you’re not perfectly healthy? I still give my seat to elderly and pregnant women, but I don’t get how you can make the judgement of someone’s character just cause they didn’t give their seat to you and they looked fine. Just seems like people all over the internet want compassion and empathy, but then are not willing to have any of those for other people. Yeah, you’re pregnant and you’ll go off on people, cause someone looks fine and they didn’t give you their seat, but in reality someone might’ve been working 12+ hours shift and is extremely tired or someone is very depressed, someone has some medical issues you can’t see. Maybe practice what you preach not only when it benefits you?
@@rosesophieblack7287 I traveled daily for 5 years before I left my job. Every single time on bus and train, I would offer my seat to someone who needs it more(many times to healthy males as well if they look too tired). So may you should not judge people randomly by their comments when you know nothing about them in personal life. I agree with your point that sometimes people do look healthy and are not. But in a compartment full of people there will always be more healthy people as compared to pregnant people. Yes, all pregnant people don't have health issues but every pregnant lady has one general issue that is getting tired easily and body aches(back or legs or both or entire body aches). Yes, I agree that you cannot help everyone because you won't be able to always tell what's going on with them just by looking at them but you can (and should) help atleast when you know someone needs help. P.S. I have had clinical depression and anxiety. And I also have spondylitis and chronic back pain. I still used to help people out while travelling and will gladly do it again after pregnancy.
in my "third world country" it is a basic tradition, culture and mentality to stand up for pregnant women, injured and old people... I don't know how it is so rare in America and in the West in general, and when someone does that they deserve applause.. Also in all institutions, stores, anywhere where we wait in line, pregnant women always go first.
I was pregnant taking the train everyday, nobody would get up for me, I was working full-time in Manhattan. One time an old lady she had to be like 80 with a cane tried to get up, I was like no 😢 it's sad that we don't teach proper etiquette to our kids anymore. Did she even once say thank you to the people being kind?? You can’t do much when someone offers kindness so unexpectedly so the least you can do is thank them to let them know you’re grateful 😅
Just be kind. Don't expect any return. You don't always thank your parents for every single detail they do, it's their job. Just like us, it's our job to maintain world's peace, so just be kind
@@kiky8386 No. I do say "thank you" to my parents when I receive their help in any way. It's not that hard. It's true that a kind action shouldn't be done while expecting something. @@Joel-hy1cd no one's asking for a reward here. It would just be nice to have your actions acknowledged. That's more than enough. Kindness sometimes is really costly. But still some choose to be kind sometimes. Acknowledging that act would give them the energy to continue being kind.
When I was on my 1st trimester, my belly was not showing yet, but that was the most tiring phase of pregnancy because of all the sickness and the fact that u couldn't eat anything. I once felt like my legs are giving up and my body is shaking, so I stopped at the side before going down the elevator. The officers said lady u can't stop here, and then laugh at me when I said "can I rest here for a while, I'm pregnant and I felt so tired" they look at my tummy and said sorry u need to keep walking. No compassion whatsoever 😭
Been there. With Hyperemesis gravidarum my body was so weak during my first trimester. I had to step down from public transport before my destination arrives just to sit and rest / vomit sometimes. No one gets up . My friends used to tell people that I am pregnant and tired so that someone will give me a seat. I am grateful for those friends. They really took good care of me during that time.
@@airathegsd My heart goes for you. Now, whenever I see someone looking tired, I'll just give up my seat. Because even women and men who are muscular deserves to be given the seat if they're not feeling/looking well. If we do that, hopefully the society follows. At least my kids can watch and learn from me.
This is so true. Sadly, you feel at your worst when nobody notices anything yet. Once you are showing, you likely feel much better. I received zero sympathy from my male managers in the workplace when I was taking a rest outside break hours once because I felt so weak, even got a disciplinary warning. The same managers were however completely different to me once my belly was bigger, picking things up for me etc. By this time I was absolutely fine. There's yet more educating to be done!..
😮.. some people are just naturally ignorant and miserable and don't like themselves let alone care about anybody or anything else.. that's just really messed up. Sorry this happened to you😢
I think I would get up for a pregnant woman, especially because it could be dangerous if she would fall. BUT sometimes people have their own problems, which we can't know. For example from time to time I would be in so much pain that I have to sit and couldn't bear to stand . I don't think strangers could guess my condition just from looking at me. Otherwise I would also get up for elderly or handicapped people.❤
Absolutely agree. I've had surgery on my pelvis and can't stand for long periods of time, so whenever I need to sit down and don't give up my seat because I'm in a lot of pain, I get looks. Just because I don't look like I have an injury, doesn't mean I don't deserve to sit down.
Will you be like thus now? It's all you need to do. Think outside of yourself .. to be like us, you have to be aware of the world outside of your own. Do this, and these actions are second nature. X
I used to be pregnant and no young people gave up the seat for me while on the train, only elderly people… I did not have a heart taking their seat, for I did not want them to fall down as they are getting weaker with ages. I got miscarriage and while in the ER, another elderly who begged the nurse to check on me first and she was trying to take care of me while she forgot why she was at the ER. The older we get, the more compassionate and resilient I am assuming
Im sorry u got miscarriage.😢 I don't know what's wrong with young people these days, they can be ignorant and selfish, it's like they are so into themselves and some of them has a very low respect for someone older than them. And me coming from Asian Culture, these ignorant & unrespectful attitude really makes me sad. Becuse back in the olddays, my parents always taught me to always be respecful, be kind and stay humble no matter what to whom ever your dealing with, especially to those older than u.
@@erlinsiskasarie9887 I was taught the same, and I did the same as I have been taught. To give the youngsters the benefit of the doubt, maybe they are hooked on their phones and not paying attention to their surroundings as much. Recently, I was witnessing an elderly asking a young man to give his seat to her. He stood up immediately with a big smile on his face, and the elderly lady rewarded him with a chocolate bar. Both of them look at each other with compassion and respect.
Sadly I notice it the other way around more often. Several old people insisted my heavily pregnant friend had to stand up for them. Even though they could've asked anyone else. They don't care. It's also usually the elderly who don't let people out of the train before trying to get on. I find this quite sad because they are the same people who question our sense of responsibility. But I'm happy that this is not the case everywhere ❤

We should have pink and purple seats seats made for pregnant people and elderly like in Korea and people aren’t allowed to sit in it at any time. This would benefit people more as they won’t struggle to find a seat.😊
That's a great idea! Just like Lowe's parking lot even have expectant mother parking with the handicap parking..I thought that was very nice of them to consider the prrmegnant women too!
We do have seats designated for handicapped or seniors but no one cares they plop themselves on there and pretend they don’t see an elderly handicapped or disabled person… humans stink
There’s designated seats for pregnant and elderly people in Korean subways. Everyone respects it so well. The pregnant ladies’ seats are pink and they also get special pink buttons so when they come on the subway, they can immediately be identified with the seat . That’s what I really liked about Korea
I love this ❤ this reminds me of an incident that happened to me a while ago. I recently moved to China and I was taking the bus home from school and it’s super crowded at that time of day, and I managed to get a seat. A very old woman with back issues walked past me to find a seat but I immediately called for her to sit down, she thanked me and I ended up having no space to stand and being forced to stand in the “ DO NOT STAND” section where the door would open, I didn’t realize I couldn’t stand there as there was no where else to go, so when the door opened it did so super fast and crushed my whole body and arm, I cried for help and ended up having a few people help me out despite having a swollen and bruised arm for a week. I could see the guilt in her eyes and she offered the seat back but I refused and continued to stand, it’s always great to show kindness ❤

Everyrime I see a pregnant woman, elderly, or a mom/dad with small children I make sure that they are seated especially if the bus or train is full.
I feel you, except that no one really let me sit down when I was pregnant for my son.
Wish many blessings for your family ☺️
I’m just curious, if you felt so bad and all why didn’t you ask anyone for a seat and instead waited until someone gave it to you or stood up for you like that college student? I just don’t get it.
@@rosesophieblack7287 I totally get your point. Have you encountered a Karen/Kevin type of passengers?? Based on several experiences I did and it's just so stressful. Given the fact that the first 2 rows should be for pwds, seniors, and pregnant women there were passengers that will reason out why they need to be seated and I don't want to get into an arguement anymore when I was pregnant.. Have you ever tried to commute whenever you're pregnant?
I ride public transit regularly. I find that most people give their seats to a pregnant woman, including myself. ❤
Ladies, don't hesitate to politely ask someone for a seat. I did it many times after I broke my arm. People were always helpful and really wonderful.
Also not to forget to show d gratitude after getting one😊

I sat down and smiled as I thanked her, she smiled back and then said "Well, if they don't know how to do it, it's up to us to teach them isn't it love."
.. I knew exactly what she meant. I'll never forget that woman. A true gentlewoman. 👭❤🤰💪🏼🌎♀️👯♀️
This prove that they are still kind and loving people out there ❤️❤️❤️
Big RESPECT ✊ to those who gave their seats without contemplating ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Being pregnant is so hard on the body. It’s always so sweet and appreciated when someone gives you a little break to sit. I have done it for others too bc I know they need it. ❤
What about working on getting pregnant?
@@justheretoinspireyou5803 huh?? what's your point?
Love the hearts and the broken heart! Perfect!

in my "third world country" it is a basic tradition, culture and mentality to stand up for pregnant women, injured and old people... I don't know how it is so rare in America and in the West in general, and when someone does that they deserve applause.. Also in all institutions, stores, anywhere where we wait in line, pregnant women always go first.

Otherwise I would also get up for elderly or handicapped people.❤
Exactly!
Absolutely agree. I've had surgery on my pelvis and can't stand for long periods of time, so whenever I need to sit down and don't give up my seat because I'm in a lot of pain, I get looks. Just because I don't look like I have an injury, doesn't mean I don't deserve to sit down.

Why? She's a boss babe, she don't need no one to help her, especially a member of the oppressive patriarchy.
