How do you ou ensure the end of the stitch doesn’t come out when cutting it close? In sewing you’d do a double backstitch
Watch from 7:19.
In the last stitch, apply glue to the thread and then pull the thread.
This attaches the thread to the leather from the inside.
When cutting the thread, pull the thread and cut it as short as possible.
Next, put some glue on the end of the awl and push the thread inside along with the glue.
This method is also used by Hermes.
One thing to be careful of is that threads made of nylon or polyester cannot be fixed with glue. So we melt it and finish it.
You should use thread made of cotton or hemp, or a mixed thread.

How thick do you order pueblo leather? Looks like 3 oz (1.2 mm) to me :? I'm contemplating if I could go with 2.5-3 oz (1-1.2mm) for cardholders and wallets.

Hi.
Depending on the thread, use different finishing methods.
1. Nylon thread: It is difficult to fix with gluing. Melt the thread and fix it.
2. Cotton 100%: It is fixed with gluing. If you burn it, it doesn't melt, it burns out.
3. Cotton + Nylon: Can be gluing or burnt finish. However, although it melts when burned, it produces a black soot. It is recommended to finish with bond.

@@plan.b Thanks for the reply! I'm using polyester thread so I assume it's the same as nylon. I just concerned with the leftover melted thead because it doesn't look as neat as by gluing.
I think polyester and nylon have the same way of finishing. How to melt and finish. It is better to leave the thread short and dissolve it. It's not tidy, but it's sturdy.

음.. 모든 수성본드를 사용해보지는 않았고 오공 목공본드를 써 봤는데요.. 많이 휘어지는 부분에는 작은 크랙들이 생기더라고요.. 여러 본드를 사용해보시고 판단하시는게 좋지 않을까 생각합니다. 본드 말고 토코놀 후에 바로 왁스 코트도 해보세요.
