- Yes, so I potentially have had a matchworn Messi shirt sat in my room for the past few months which have sold at auction for more than £10,000 and some even for more than $15,000 too! Is this shirt actually real or is a fake and this whole time I've been clinging on to false hope? ENJOY AND FIND OUT!

I believe it's match worn, there's enough soft evidence to believe its the case
You might have already done it but try from those two games to find the shirt size he wore and then check your shirt and see if the sizes match

Hi Ellis, this is probably (in the best case scenario) a “match prepared” shirt, not a "match worn", because in all the games the players of the other teams reach Messi to change his shirt. So the really "match worn" shirts usually do not return to the “utilero” or Kitman of FCB. So, the term “match worn”, is overrated and misused many times.
Anyway it is a great piece to preserve a part of football and the GOAT 🐐 history.

Something that happens quite often with footballers when the make gifts to family or friends is that they would ask the kitman of the team to get shirts. There is no way of knowing weather the kitman had some MW or MP laying around from past games or if he went to the shop and got a bunch from the store , removed the tags and done.
Just want you to know that I appreciate the all white kits in the background to match the England sweatshirt

Ellis, solid investigatory work here. You've probably covered 95% (the 5% still being the unknown via proofs, COA etc). Check for proof that Lucho was actually working for Barcelona. Lucho and Vensica Jerseys could easily be the same guy.
Also check at those games and the placing of the patches, nameset etc.

Ellis check the sizing he wears, my brother lived in Spain for 6years and this lucha seems legit as real as they come inside knowledge like thst is very very rare, many a time In Spainish league players do this sort of thing alot specially if you've worked for the club, my brother lived across the way from the barnabeau saw and drank with few players so for me you have somthing special right there

Great video! If the youtubing doesn't work out there's always the option of being a Marc Hornschuh lookalike (ex-St Pauli if you're not up on your obscure German players). Not sure how much call there is for that actually...
One thing you haven't mentioned is the size? Find someone of same proportions to Messi and get them to try it on and compare it with photos of him in the shirt, to see if it looks / fits the same?

If i were you ellis i'd check for any possible mud marks or paint stains or wear and tear then watch the two games and see if you can find anything that matches up like when players sometimes get paint on thier shirts from falling on the lines then you should know which game it is from
Reason I think its real: If you know its match issued, and signed - that would have been enough to say rather than add the match worn bit.
Reason I think its fake: Lucho is a Spanish name, he was an intern at Barcelona, but then he says "in his best Spanish, like he isnt a native Spanish speaker and that he learned Spanish from his mother. Also - the way the email is written is strange - he is using some complicated concepts, like phrasal verbs correctly - but then making some basic mistakes - his English level isn't consistant. If a student were to give me that (I am an English as a foreign language teacher) - I would be very confused to their level. So I would be suspicious that Lucho was just someone pretending.
For me, get a confirmation Lucho is real, and worked at Barcelona - and the story checks out.

Hi Ellis, just wondering do you collect or have you ever considered collecting football shirts of great players with their starting club or club that made them famous? For example I have Bruno’s sporting shirt, Haalands RBS shirt, Mbappes Monaco shirt and Felixs Benfica alll BNWT! You should consider doing the same coz these shirts are so rare and soar in value while being quite unique 👍🏻

I mean for the guy to list out the games it could be why would he do that much research if it's not his shirt anymore. Like you said theres nothing to gain if hes lying so why would he. You've won either way. Having a signed messi shirt is so peng.
Devils advocate but if he worked at the club that season, owned the shirts himself and is a fan of Messi's it's not unusual that he'd be aware of which games that season he wore the shirts. He may have even gone down the same rabbit hole as Ellis to try and discover if they were matchworn. I have a harder time believing he'd gift away an authentic matchworn shirt which can be worth thousands. My opinion, it's legit signed but just surplus stock (maybe match prepared or club shop printed).

You can tell if its a player issue/match worn shirt from the printed washing label. the the normal vaporknit shirt that you can buy has white washing tags. the player version fits also slimer.

With out watching the video, I would assume the shirt, if not match worn is at least match day shirt, I don't think they sell Replicas that come with the LaLiga Defending Champions badge on it.
Even if it’s a fake shirt with a fake signature it would be the best thing I would own.

Have you tried photo matching? Use photos from the games and any significant marks. Easier for nfl jerseys obviously, but possible.

Im positive i heard a story where Messi has a few spare shirts he gives away each game he plays and gives his actual match worn shirt to his charity patrons or to keep in his personal museum for momento sake, so probably only a spare shirt, either way still decent tho!
