  • Dzus fasteners can be particularly difficult to install. If you’ve ever helped someone take a hood or body panel on and off that was not right you understand the frustration of a mis aligned fastener.
Our sure fire way of installation will make sure you don’t fight that on your new hood, trunk or other body panel. These principles carry over to everything.
For our Dzus rail kits for Fox Body Mustang, Third Gen Camaro, S10, Gbody and more, this information makes the job so easy! These kits can be found at the link below!

I’ve done this before and it’s easier if you use a die grinder and a rotary file (burr bit) to put the Dzeus button holes in the hood.
No need to remove the hood for each fastener and if the pilot hole is slightly off, it allows you to adjust for a small error.

Doug love the videos. And the freedom factory shirt. What about the thickness of the head of the rivet that holds the springs in. Wouldnt that have to be taken into account as they sit higher than the rest of the rail and the hood would then sit on the rivets?

I am slightly confused unless the company was bought and they changed the name, but in the late 70’s these where called “DUZ” fasteners. 1/4 turn and these popped off a curved spring that held tight. From front ends of school buses to motorcycles fairing, much less the race car circuit where they where designed for. If my wife has not yet found my stash of HotRod magazine, they had articles showing there use.

Any tips for getting the rivets in to the left and the right of the slots? (Besides removing all of the springs) I'm using a .125 hood, and I can't get the rivet gun in there to install the rivets. The springs are in the way.

  • @richardscarlett7942

I wonder how much of that sheet metal debris went into the turbo inlet. You could just use another Dzus rail at the back of the hood and cowl. Mount the rail on the cowl side as you did with the fenders and you have a perfect shelf for the back of the hood to rest on

If you used proper squeezed rivets on the hood, there is no need for holes to accommodate the stick-out of the pop rivets...
