It's terrible when the municipality does not take care of roadways and pedestrian walkways. The tree there has pushed up and broken the sidewalk, already making it impassable, then over time weeds and grass take over, people go scenery blind and stop noticing the problem. In my province in Canada, our municipality has an infrastructure budget where it gets subsidized by the province, and basically in order to get those funds projects get done to continue receiving subsidy. Sometimes sidewalks that done necessarily require replacement will be renewed. My point is that it is rare to have infrastructure in that bad of shape, maybe that's why I enjoy watching these yard makeovers.
