I love how clearly we can hear Patrick's voice and the instruments. That's really what I missed about the older music. And it doesn't sound like they're trying to just copy their old sound, but just trying something different from the past few years. I like it!
I agree 100%. I've loved almost every single thing they've put out, but this is a perfect mashup of their older and newer stuff. I love how they can experiment with sounds but you always KNOW its a Fall Out Boy song. This is nostalgic for their old songs, but its still got a new vibe, its not trying to COPY old stuff

I think Save Rock & Roll is a great comeback album with just a few duds, I didn’t care for American Beauty/American Psycho and kinda shrugged it off as their “pop experminent” album but MANIA was so messy and chaotic and so far removed from what makes FOB so special and if they were to have continued in that direction I would’ve given up on them, I’m glad they proved me wrong

Two decades later and I’ve still never been letdown by these guys.
last year I repented to God then begged for help, "I was until then an Atheist."
I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed because I never read the bible", and the love I felt from Jesus when I held him in my arms was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of joy every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life, forever.
I've had other miracles since, a Few being a light turning on in answer to deeply needful prayer over a Dozen times, seeing a orb of light pass across my face hours before a major surgery, seeing an Angel in a dream the night my mother prayed for me to see one, "Without telling me", and So much more.
Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they love us deeply. Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you love and forgive them and I believe we should do our best to follow the 10 commandments.

They took a break and then when they came back together they experimented with some new stuff. Some people liked it, some didn't. They said this album is not them returning exclusively to their old sound, but it's part of their experimental growth - an imagining of what they would have put out if they put out a new album directly after Folie à Deux instead of taking a break. Who knows what they'll do next...
I'm glad they put this out and I do love the nostalgia it makes me feel, but whatever they choose to put out next, whether it's more like this, like their other more recent albums, or something different, it will be authentic to them. I may or may not like it, but my opinion alone doesn't mean it's good or bad.
While I didn't like their albums after Folie à Deux and before this one as much as their earlier albums (and many others clearly feel the same after reading through comments here), those albums achieved commercial success and extended their reach to a new audience - but even if they didn't, that was the music they wanted to produce and I think it's awesome they did that, likely knowing that a considerable portion of their original fans might not like it as much. Now they've put this out they likely know that some of their new fans might not like it as much.
Big respect to FOB for just producing the music they want to produce rather than playing it safe to appease fans even if it doesnt make them happy.

I moved on from my emo/punk phase when i was in my late teens and started listening to metal. Right now i'm just catching up with what this guys have been up to. Damn, they still sound just like before but is a much more mature way. It's rare for a band to be able to keep the essence that make them so unique for so long and still sound so fresh. FOB might find a spot in my playlist.

I have loved every Album they've released and there isn't a song in the catalog that I have disliked. With that being said, this is by far my favorite song they have put out since Folie. It feels like the perfect evolution of everything I loved about their old sound and everything I loved about the new sound. I can't wait for the Album and I can't wait to see them live whenever the tour is announced.
This wouldn't have sounded out of place on Folie as well. Hoping it's a great album!
