  • This will clarify why excessive pronation to the lead arm in the backswing can cause major issues to the shaft alignment at the top, and the subsequent reactions in transition that cause problems.

Pronation at the top does not automatically lead to a steep downswing . In fact it usually places the elbow in a position where it is easier to perform right shoulder external rotation to start the transition. The real problem with pronation in the backswing is performing pronation too early. Inevitably when a golfer pronates too early the right elbow bends too early and too much and gets too far behind the body . Doing so will reduce the width of the backswing.Even more important from that position there is not enough time to get the right elbow on and in front the right hip at impact, resulting in a number of problems. If golfers delayed probation until about 7:30 or 8:00, these issues would not happen

Your video is the only one I have found that explains my backswing issues to a tee! So frustrating… how do I correct this?

Dude! You literally just described my entire golf swing! 😂🤯. I actually play to scratch but I’ve always felt like I can be a much better golfer. My swing and ball striking is way to inconsistent. I’ve always thought that it’s because of my backswing. I can already FEEL that this is gonna work. I can’t wait to try it out tomorrow!

Why does Rickie Fowler do on transition and in the downswing to save the shot

Does this same concept apply the same with your driver?
