Iblees is satan, and he was not an Angel. Angels are beings made of pure light, and they do not have free will, they obey every command God gives them. Iblees is a Jinn, these are beings made of fire, that have free will like the human beings. That’s why Iblees disobeyed God, he was arrogant and his free will allowed him to. And so God reprieved his punishment until the day of Judgement, Satans main goal is to misguide humanity from the straight path, which is to worship God alone without ascribing partners to him.
