Spanish protest turns into sit-in in Madrid Square

  • In Spain, thousands of young people have spent another night on the streets. Anti-government protests at the weekend seem to have turned into a spontaneous sit-in.
Most of the protesters are young and from what the IMF has called Spain's "lost generation" a consequence of current youth unemployment of 45 percent. Police watched from afar.
This is a social sea change for Spain. It is the first protest organised by the people themselves, angry about unemployment, the economy and government cuts.

I thought the whole point of government was to manage the country correctly? If the governmnet fail then sack the government until a good one comes along

@HunterofDolts They were still from Africa and occupied the Iberian peninsula for 800 years which included Spain from 711 AD to 1492 so yes the Spanish have African blood and the eastern europe has Mongol blood

@HunterofDolts That's weird because Jews were thrown out of Spain by the Catholic Kings from 1100 to 1600 so I'd say there is less amount of Jewish "blood" flowing in modern Spain than in any other European country except perhaps Scandinavia.

    Question:
Is it true that protesters in Spain used as a slogan the "Shhhh, the Greeks are sleeping"? It's been all over the social networks in Greece and I'm wondering if it's true. Used or not it is indeed true and if it was actually used, that was a very clever move to make!

@Marathonmarch 781 years only in GRANADA, not the whole or even most of the Peninsula.
Nope, the "Moors" were Arabs and BERBERS, who are of Caucasoid type, not Negroid:
"Berbers are an indigenous Caucasoid people of North Africa. They live in the area from the Atlantic coast to the Oasis of Siwa in Egypt, from the Mediterranean shore to the oases in mid-Sahara." - Thomas M. Leonard, "Encyclopedia of the developing world", Volume 1, Taylor & Francis, 2006. pp. 168-169.

bravo to Spanish people. Keep fighting don't give up .
Let's protest against the regime of the few imperialists who want to own the world
europe for now. All Europeans should not accept the strict measures of the IMF . Let us all say NO to slavery NO to hunger to unemployment and to the present governments of Europe.

@asteris78 20k people today in front of the parliament in Athens, 5-6k in Thessaloniki, hundreds in Volos,Rethimno,Lamia. Today Mr Manolis Yialitakis, president of the Greeks living in Spain, said it was Greek students, after taking the ok from their Spaniard coursemates, who wrote this slogan, implying that if the Greeks wake up the world will come to a standstill. A friendly advice if I may, dont believe anything the Greek tv says. A day later & we got to know what really happened..hahaha
