Balan Mash (#mammootty ) is an art teacher who lives in a tiny hamlet in Kerala. He has a serene life, with two children, a wife, a mother and a revolutionary brother - Gopi(Mukesh), a typical kootu kudumbam, or joint family, of Kerala. Balan Mash has an uncle who is mentally challenged. His uncle became a mental patient after a separation with his lover; this underlines the deep-rooted belief among their family that one male from each generation will go mad as a person from their past generation had sinned by throwing the idol of 'Devi' in a well.He was cursed by the goddess and became a lunatic.This curse would pass down through generations.Balan Mash's uncle finally died and the talk of the town became - "Who would be next - #Balan or Gopi ?"

രണ്ടാം വട്ടം കാണാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ഒരു സിനിമ ...
പലപ്പോഴും തനിയാവർത്തനം കാണുമ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് തോന്നിയിട്ടുണ്ട് ഇത് എൻ്റെ കൂടി കഥയാണെന്ന് .എൻ്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽ വീടിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയായ ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് പരമ്പരാഗമായി വിശ്വസിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഒരു വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുടുംബത്തിൽ എന്നും ഒരു രോഗിയുണ്ടാവും. അയാൾക്ക് ഇടത്തുകാലിന് എന്തെങ്കിലും ഒരു പരിക്കുമുണ്ടാകും . എൻ്റെ അച്ഛമ്മ യായിരുന്നു ഞാൻ കണ്ട ആദ്യ രോഗി. (അറുപതാമത്തെ വയസ്സിൽ മറിഞ്ഞു വീണ് ഇടത്തു തുടയെല്ല് പൊട്ടി) പിന്നീട് എൻ്റെ അമ്മ (ഷുഗർ കൂടി ഇടത്തെ കാലിൻ്റെ എല്ല് ദ്രവിച്ചുപോയി) ഒടുവിൽ ഞാനും (ടൂവീലർ ആക്സിലിൽ പെട്ട് ഇടത്തുകാൽ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു)
എനിക്ക് ഇതെല്ലാം ഒരു കോയിൻസിഡാൻസ് തോനുന്നതെങ്കിലും എൻ്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ കുടുംബത്തിന് അങ്ങനെയല്ല. അച്ഛൻറെ കാലശേഷം ഇതെല്ലാം വിറ്റ് മാറാനാണ് എൻ്റെ തീരുമാനം.
അത്തരത്തിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസങ്ങൾ ഞാനും കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്, കുടുംബ വീടുമായി ബന്ധപെട്ട് ..ഒരേ സ്ഥലത്തു കുറെ കാലം നില്കുന്നത് അല്ലേലും ഒരു മുരടിപ്പാണ് . ഞാൻ പിന്നീട് കുറച്ചു ബെറ്റർ ആവാൻ ഒരു മുരടിപ്പ് വരാതെ ഇരിക്കാൻ പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ജീവിക്കാൻ ആരംഭിച്ചു ..അതുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു സുഖമുണ്ട്
@@jbitvcinemas ഒരു കുഴപ്പം അച്ഛൻ ഒരിക്കലും ഈ വീട് വിട്ട് എങ്ങും വരില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് അച്ഛൻ്റെ കാലശേഷം മാത്രം മാറി താമസിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. മാത്രമല്ല എൻ്റെ ശാരീരിക സ്ഥിതിയും വളരെ മോശമാണ്. എങ്കിലും സ്വന്തമായി ഇപ്പോൾ കൺസ്ട്രക്ഷൻ നടത്തി ജീവിക്കുന്നു. ഞാനൊരു സിവിൽ എഞ്ചിനീയർ ആണ്

ലോഹിയുടെ ആദ്യ ഫിലിം ഓണം റിലീസ് ആയിരുന്നു അന്ന് ഞാൻ ഒന്നാം വർഷ ബിരുദ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി, ഒരു കനത്ത മഴ ദിവസം സൈക്കിൾ ചവിട്ടി പോയി കണ്ട ഫിലിം അന്ന് പക്ഷെ ബോക്സ്‌ ഓഫീസിൽ അത്ര വലിയ വിജയം ആയിരുന്നു ഇല്ല, പക്ഷെ അന്ന് വലിയ തോതിൽ നിരൂപക പ്രശംസ നേടി പ്രത്യകിച് മാതൃഭൂമി വീക്കിലിയിൽ കോഴിക്കോടന്റെ നിരൂപണം ആയിരുന്നു ശ്രദ്ദേയം യാതൊരു ദയ ഇല്ലാതെ പുതിയ സിനിമകളെ നിഷ്കരുണം വിലയിരുത്തൽ നടത്തുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം ഈ പടത്തിന് വലിയ അഭിപ്രായം ആണ് എഴുതിയത്,
