Love how Henry is like “nah nah nah that’s not for me you can’t do that sorry” 😂😂
And I think he’s right so!
Why?? What's wrong with doing it?

Terrible logic though. As Jamie said, anyone can lay down behind a wall - not everyone can score from a free kick consistently.
that was the stupidest shot at an analogy I've heard in years. laughing at that looks pretty dumb.
Priceless
In these discussions, you really miss Micah who would've screamed "aaah" and made the situation into a fun one 😂

Messi laying behind the wall shows his true character and leadership - “What can I do to help my team” regardless of what is being asked. Makes me like and respect him even more.
True, very good point!
Might as well start a religion for Messi at this point. People praising him for just laying down now

@@jorge10928 I know, but why are we commending him for doing something so simple. It shouldn't even be a talking point. He's not above the team so people should stop putting him on a pedestal for no reason.
Henry was a meh pundit until he stopped caring and started roasting everyone like he did on the pitch haha. Murders you with that smile. But yeah, if my team win the ball back I want my best playmaker free.
That's not why Henry was saying it. He was saying that the greatest player of all time shouldn't be laying on the ground. It's a respect thing.
@@Revelian1982 I know what is saying. But also if they mess up I want him free. As a respect thing you can look at it from Messi as magnanimous. A picture that can be shown to kids. "Even Messi did it". Henry is an unapologetic purist, though and has the right to be, so I get it.
I’m an arsenal fan and avoid watching his punditry to maintain the love and respect I hVe for the guy 😅
@yogs I'm agreeing with you. Just because I'm telling you why Henry said what he said doesn't mean I agree with him. I'd have him either laying down or free to break quickly should the ball get to him.

I don't agree with anything Jamie says, but I 100% agree with him on this one. "Why not him" In this senerio, Messi has two options either stay outfield an be ready for a potentail counter attack or if he's back defending the freeekick, that is the least he can do.
or getting smashed in the face
How could you agree with him lmao. Messi should never be there. He should be ready for a counter and not only that but there is a risk of PSG's best player being injured. It was 90+1 with only 3 minutes to go so its pointless to have him there for both reasons.

Well put
The point Henry tried to make is that Messi should be in a position to counter if the ball should hit the wall

It's not what he was trying to say though, was it? Because if it was, he would have just said that. That's what you think. And it is a very good argument for Messi not being in the wall. I am in agreement with you there. But it is simply not what Henry "tried to say" at all.
@@joshzulu8444 Yeah, gotta agree with you on all points there.
Carra is right on his argument. The only point against it is if you plan on having a possibility of a quick counter attack and you want your best forward free and... forward.
How is Messi the best? He isn't even fast.
@@isauldlc-qj5qewell half space should be the position occupied by messi so that he could use his passing for counter nad someone like mbappe could run for the attack😊
I can't believe that Jamie Carragher was arguing about the league goals he scored, it was only 3 in his career, he should remember each one and not be any confusion
I wouldn’t ask you take a free kick 🤣 Jamie getting violated
Who ever idea it was to thos lot together, Thankyou very much for this♥♥♥.
I'm happy to see Titi defending Messi about having to lay behind the wall but we all know Messi is humble enough to do that no problem. Jamie's record tho... lol Titi wanted to laugh so bad but held back n that was nice, I mean 11 goals scored but 8 were own goals 😂😂😂😂😂 poor Jamie

No one caught what Schmeichel said: "It makes him bigger in my eyes." Yes. Messi's humility is what makes him a better superstar. That's why I'm sure he doesn't mind lying down.
Just randomly came across Henry's handball against Ireland.....he can shut his gob for just one minute.
I'm with Jamie on this

Jamie Henry and Micah are definitely the best combination
This channel better keep Henry and the others. Cos if they change it they'll never find this chemistry again 🤣🤣
Now see if this was hockey, your star player laying it all on the line to block a shot is exactly how you win Stanley Cups
I’m rarely with Jamie, but I believe he got this one right. In the end even the best player in the world is just a human after all.
I think it shouldn't be a problem for any player on any team to lie down behind the wall but you can't have Messi lying down protecting behind the wall because if the freekick hits the wall and your team is on a counter attack with the likes of Mbappe and Neymar, you would definitely want only Messi to have the ball after hitting the wall and Messi will play that pass on the counter for Mbappe or Neymar to score a goal
But that’s the thing. U don’t think he should be because u would want him involved in the attack if there is a counter. Some people think that Messi is some sort of special human being that is better. He’s a better footballer so u task him wid privileges in football. Lying behind a wall is not a skill anyone can do it. Saying Messi should have the privilege of not doing that job because it’s disrespectful is funny. If it’s disrespectful to him it should be disrespectful to everyone. There isn’t a single person in the team Messi is better than as a person. He’s jus another player playing for his club. Fuck privileges.
@Matthew Barker he is best when it comes to dribbling and building a counter attack and passing to mbappe and Neymar
As if Neymar isn't used to doing that for MBappe or kylian can't take ball with him
Thierry has so much respect for Messi that he wasn't having it lol
Titi.
Legend ⚽️
Idk what's worse- Jamie's goal record or the audio in this video
Really the reason you don't want him in the wall is cause you want him up and ready for a potential counter-attack. If the ball hits the wall, and goes back to a psg player, you want Messi up and ready. You don't have to make some privilege argument to see why he should not be there.
If the ball his the wall and goes back to a psg player, I want Mbappe and Neymar up and ready for a counter attack because both of those guys are faster than Messi
@@blocktopic I mean you want the whole front three up and ready. You could put a paredes or Herrera there.
Legit argument unlike Thierry Henry’s. He was basically being an elitist. I hate ppl like that lol
@@YoogiNation exactly. People in the comments actually had a valid reason which benefits the team. Messi isn’t better than no person that plays for PSG. He’s jus a player that plays for PSG under a contract jus like every other PSG player. Fuck the privileges. Give him football privileges because he’s a better footballer. Not a better human being tho.
@@YoogiNation I know how you feel but sorry to break it ya,mate. That "elitist" attitude is in every corner of Life, unfortunately.
Carra defending styles is quite deep in his own area, that 1 of the reason y he have quite high numbers of own goals..however, v can’t denies that Carra will play all out for his team
For quick counter-attack, a player like Messi who can hold the ball, dribble & have good passing skills is needed... unless the team has no intention to score more goals.
the conversation was very interesting
got to agree with carragher.
why not messi.
Just because he's the best player doesn't mean he's worth more as a human being. he has 10 other equal human beings in that team.
the way henry was talking was of an arrogant man who thinks the rest of his team mates are beneath him.
He is the shortest player on the team. He is more useful there than in the wall.
No, you want him up incase for the counter attack
@@kennyc2281 But what of the wall jumps and the kick taker hits it low?

And he won more than spurs
Can Messi Defend ?

No
Can he lie down ?

Honestly don’t know why he would put a defender right there and have Messi mark another attacker
@@alvaromorales222 probably because that is not his best attribute… if you said put him somewhere he could counter attack that would make sense but you have Mbappe in the team who is faster to do that job… if you can spare an extra man, use both of them
Some sense for once, bravo
They needed more defence than attacking options and Messi is not tall enough to be standing as part of the wall
The reason I'd never ask Messi to lay down behind the wall is because I'd rather Messi on the ball for a counter attack instead of Carragher. or instead of anyone in world football.
Should Messi lie down behind the wall? This is a difference in culture here.
Carragher grew up in working class Liverpool, where the collective was more important than the individual. Individualism was seen as selfish arrogance. As a centre back, his job was to look after the team. As such, Messi gets no special privileges because everyone is equal.
Thierry is a superstar legend. He created individual magic and genius and teams would look to him for their salvation. Thierry needed to know he was the best to produce the best. As a striker, he was the focal point and the team was constructed to give him chances to score. As such, Messi gets special treatment because he is special. Lying on the ground is for any common player and Messi is not common and shouldn’t be disrespected in that way.
The good thing is that Messi is special but he doesn’t ask to be treated as such. He doesn’t need to lie on the ground, but he does it for the team. That’s a leader.
You need to come here with your bulletproof on!

You don't ask a CEO to clean the office bathrooms.
Wow fire that sound engineer..
It was a setup. Carra was doomed to fail here 😂
What titi and Kate are saying is right actually,i mean like come on everyone can say why not him and knowing the type of guy Messi he wouldn't even mind but the real question is why him? Cause as even Jamie say anyone can do that so why not put over there some player who has a less important role over there or is less known cause what the other players can do Messi can do everything but what Messi can do not many players can do, also just a side note ,it's also about respect ,I know what everyone will say you should think about how you can contribute to your team but if I have a career half of the half as impressive as Messi i would not be lying and would and someone young or not that accomplished would lie down there and titi understands that and is coming from the same place
I think it depends on the situation. If you're on the back foot, you probably want him in the best position to start the counter attack. If you're in the last minutes of the game, this is probably the best way he can help the team defensively and lead with example.
That someone should have a privilege based on past achievements triumphing the best interest of the team however is nonsense and problematic in the long term
I agree with Jamie
You shouldn't really have any attacking player lying on the floor there because you want them ready in a better position to counter attack if you get posession quickly from the free kick.
Jamie is right. Even famous footballers are still just equal humans.
Henry killing Jamie on the pitch and in the studio.
Simple solution, if a counter attack were to strike they would need skillful attackers to pass the ball or even finish. Messi can do both. Thus if Messi is defending it would limit the attacking potential. Counters are made by fast and skilled players. A defend isn’t gonna go up and dribble out players.
Champions league amazing

Thanks alot
Jamie is right in this one. Also Messi is the smallest so laying down he covers the width of the wall but standing he would be pretty useless
Puttin Messi in the wall would be stupidd, he's too short, but now thinking about it he should be on the outside waiting for the potential rebound
As much as I like Messi as a player, I agree with what Carragher is saying. At the end of the day its a team sport.
Well, since Messi is a gifted attacker, he should be in a position to counter
That's all
@@shahbazshaikh2884 u came up wid a valid reason why he shouldn’t be there. I respect that and I agree. Thierry Henry said he shouldn’t be there because he’s Messi. He’s sucking off messi so hard here. Is Messi a God? No he’s jus another player who’s contracted under PSG. Football privileges make sense cause he’s a better football player. Any other privilege is ridiculous because he’s no better than any other person on that pitch as people.
PSG asking Messi to do that is not wrong in any way but dumb because he can do a more effective job at counter attacking. But then, it also depends on the score line. If the aim is to just defend their 1 goal lead then may be that was the better strategy because he cannot defend.

if that free kick hits the wall and it sets them off on a counter. you want messi in the counter and not lying on the pitch. that's why you don't want messi lying there
He's very slow now days, makes sense to have the shortest player laying down
@@BadBoyV1 Its not about Messi running. Who would you want to have the ball to start a counter attack? Messi. Probably sending Neymar or Mbappe with a defense splitting pass.
I'm sure Messi does not mind doing that,
But, just purely in football terms he should be taking a different position in case the ball hits the wall and ends up in Messi's feet,
With his ability, he could pick a team mate with one pass and it becomes a chance for PSG the other end.
Henry is such a fanboy
Messi is new on the team, he probably wants to build some respect by doing some of the dirty work. Cheers to that, Messi is no diva.
not for me, but not because of his stature in the game. Because if you win it back quickly and can get on the counter attack, you have your best attacker lying down on the floor instead of being ready to pounce on the attack. He'd not be much use in the wall as he's quite short and maybe they have faster players than him for the counter attack so I can understand why he was asked to do that job though. Kudos to him that he did it, can't see neymar doing it.
