Thanos Theme | Marvel Cinematic Universe

- Most people probably think Thanos' theme is the dark, ominous horns heard in the beginning of 'Travel Delays'. "We all think that at first... But we are all wrong" - Red Skull.
Although, yes, that is part of his theme, I believe that the more touching, emotional part of the soundtrack, heard in 'Help Arrives' and 'Infinity War', is also a part of his theme. This could also be more of a theme for Thanos and Gamora's relationship, considering that apart from the end credits, any time it plays, Thanos and Gamora are sharing a scene.
It's a truly beautiful piece composed by Alan Silvestri, and despite the terrible and unforgivable things Thanos did, genuinely suits his character. Maybe even more so than the ominous horns... We also got a pretty cool theme for Thanos back in Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014), composed by Tyler Bates. But we never could've known what was in store back then.
Thanos was such a fantastic villain, and had so many spectacular musical moments. One great moment not included in this suite is from 'Undying Fidelity', when Thanos crushes the Tesseract. Just little nuances in the score like that really make it 1000 times better. Alan Silvestri deserves so much credit for his work in this movie.
The songs used in this suite are:
Travel Delays - Alan Silvestri
Help Arrives - Alan Silvestri
Hand Means Stop / You Go Right - Alan Silvestri
Get That Arm / I Feel You - Alan Silvestri
Infinity War - Alan Silvestri
Porch - Alan Silvestri

Okay so this is awesome - my first video to hit 100k views.
I still remember when my Ghost / Ava Starr theme suite hit 3,000 and I thought that was amaaaazing! That was the target for my videos from then on. Now a lot of my vids exceed that. I know, it’s nothing compared to some bigger CZcamsrs, but I started this channel as nothing more than a way for me to express my love for film scores, and to for my own sake; to sort all the themes in my head.
Thank you all so, so much. Truly, from the bottom of my heart - THANK YOU!
Thank you. I do love film scores so much also. So moving.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fact that the Avengers JUMPED Thanos while he was seasoning chicken in his kitchen. We live in a beautiful time.
Gosuck Adönut me too
@@suitemoviethemes That's how they do it, and still are the good guys, since they get to be the heroes anyway. I need to see the Avengers going after their own. There's a lot of bad guys between them with a free pass on us, pretending they are for the greater good. Those are the stories making the Avengers the good guys, but they basically have no solutions to which ever problem someone like Thanos is trying to solve i.e. preventing what happened to his planet from happening again. The Avengers aside from Thor is an inexperienced bunch, not knowing much about the outside world.
I feel that the ominous horns are the main theme of Thanos from a surface level. It represents his warlord-nature and his bloodlust. (Granted 2014 Thanos has more bloodlust than 2018 Thanos, but still.) It represents his menacing presence.
But then the more melancholy strings represent the pain he feels inside. Like, remember. For all his warmongering and all his slaughtering, he's still a broken titan who lost EVERYONE when his planet faced armageddon. At least Superman was barely even a child when Krypton exploded. Thanos tried so hard to prevent it and he watched helplessly as he lost all his loved ones perish. That's a huge weight to carry.
And he had to sacrifice his daughter as well later on.

5:58 i love this because of how Thanos is just walking. He's not running to try and get to Vision and Wanda, he's just walking slowly while the Avengers try and stop him. It's almost like he knows that he’s won, so he just barely does anything to even get the last stone. And music during these shots just adds onto it. the harsh brass, the thunderous drum, all of it symbolizes how much power Thanos has at this point. As of now, there is nothing to do to stop him. Thanos has won, and he knows this.
The music was on endgame too
The way he hit black panther is unrealistic tho. He would have the amount he hit him for sent back to himself so thanos would fly backwards

The Power Stone to provide the infinite energy for the other stones.
The Mind Stone to find them all.

His theme is so daunting, it really does capture both the feel of inevitability and finality that the MCU version of Thanos symbolizes.
Even the Star Wars galaxy would feel a cold chill sweep through them if Thanos ever showed up there.
Thanos's sanctuary 2 looks more menacing than the death star.
If u ain't watched this in the theaters when it came out u seriously missed out on something great.
Literally this theme makes every clip he's in seem way more menacing
The first song in the video is what I think to be his theme. Everything else was just music to fit his scenes.
The dark chord progressions are his theme. But the song ‘porch’ must be part of it because it plays 4 times throughout IW and Endgame. I imagine that the melody at 2:06 and 7:03 is also part of his theme or possibly a Gamora & Thanos leitmotif
Me: *Hears this theme at the start of Infinity War* It's gonna be a bad ending isn't it?
End of Infinity War: *_its free real estate_*
How did you know it was gonna be an ending where Thanos wins?
If you listen to the intro music of Infinity Wars, it sounds unusual and it sounds like a bad sign.

@@suitemoviethemes totally agree with you. I feel you, even for you, forge, porch, field trip, you go right, what did it cost, catch, a lot to figure out are some breath taking tracks. I also recommend his score for predator, the Mexican, the abyss, ready player one. I have made a comment on undying fidelity on CZcams in the video by marvelmusic Vevo, it's an analysis actually. Silvestri is a genius
@@suitemoviethemes I am really unhappy about the fact that he didn't get even an Oscar nomination for this score. Such soundtrack with beautiful and unique orchestrations come once in a decade and that also for a superhero movie!!
‘Even for you’ is definitely my favourite track from the soundtrack. So incredibly emotional. I adore Silvestri’s scores for Back to the Future, Forrest Gump and Ready Player One. I do think that Ludwig Goransson deserved the nomination for the amazing BP score but I wish Silvestri had gotten a nod too.

You know we all know it. Even years later, straight off the top of our heads “I know what it’s like to loose, feel so desperately that you’re right, yet to fail nonetheless”…
As a child I liked heroes but as I grown up I Love villains.
They are broken from inside too hard that no one can ever break them. I like Thanos's idea too much about making universe's population half
Thanos isn’t broken like the other villains. We don’t know much about his past in the films but he was a maniac who was obsessed with fulfilling a devastating plan. He used it as an excuse to murder and ravage thousands of planets and millions of people. Sure, he has an incredibly strong will, especially to destroy the stones after using them, but that’s cause he’s insane, and will do anything to fulfil his plan, because he thinks he’s right.

the bass drum roll crescendos are gr8
I just got to the end of "Infinity Wars" and thought- "wow- that has to be a transformation of a musical motif connected to Thanos." The musical ending of the whole movie couldn't get much more powerful or appropriate- ending piano in a ensemble of solo strings, g minor with a picardy third at the very end, so gentle, almost as if gently swept on the strings, almost staccato.

So simple yet so powerful
the last half is so good
After Infinity War Thanos became one of the greatest and most popular villains in all of fiction and pop culture. While Thanos in the MCU was heavily nerfed, he made up for it with his character and motivations. I really hope Thanos returns in the MCU. There's so many stories from Marvel Comics the MCU can take inspiration from. I really hope this won't be the last we see of Thanos and hopefully if he does make his return, I want him to be as powerful as his comic book counterpart. I want him to tap into cosmic energy, be totally immortal and unkillable and tap into the mystic arts to boost his power. I also want a reason why Thanos would be back, and that's where you bring in Mistress Death. Mistress Death resurrects Thanos to be her servant and to manipulate him. To wipe out all life in the multiverse.
