I used to think all the "Guess the country" memes (where the implied answer is always Russia) were just poking fun of a people who got the short end of the post-communism stick. Oh Jake. That last video of the mother explaining to her child about the loud bangs, has left me in tears. My heart breaks for everyone in Ukraine, wishing just to live without disruption, injury or extermination.

My heart goes out to this mother calmly telling him about their situation, why father is not there but is fighting to protect them, trying to hide her own tears.
Sometimes I am overwhelmed by what's happening in Ukraine and have to not log in for a few days.
I know Ukrainians cannot just look away but are confronted every day, every night with this brutal invasion of their land.
I am amazed by their spirit.
I will not give up on my support for Ukraine and I hope to go there, soon, to help them rebuild.
I'm slowly learning the language. It's hard but I'm determined ... like I see and feel the Ukrainians to be.

Hey OZ. Very eloquent, and I ditto and underscore every word you said. The worst for me was the Ukrainian Warrior double amputee falling around trying with all his might and indomitable spirit to get down on one knee and propose to the love of his life. Kudos for learning Ukrainian. I am 82 and dyslexic { took me 4 goes to spell that correctly) But following your example i will give Ukrainian a go. If I was 22, I would have been on the front and would have considered it an honour, coming back or not Societal Norms have degraded so in my lifetime, that I am really ashamed to admit that i am a westerner. When this war ends in VICTORY for Ukraine I will on the first tourist group looking for ways to help rebuild the land with intent to settle there. I might not wait till VICTORY. I am tired of tears of shame and frustration.

The fact the FSB took so long shows they were told way ahead of time not to respond.
Yeah putin and the fsb did something similar as justification to invade chechnia a few decades ago.
Maybe if a Russian at the concert hall had called in "there are people trying to protest the war in Ukraine" then Russian security forces would have showed up sooner than 90 minutes after the shooting started.

I’m not surprised that Putin would use this tragic event to recruit more toy soldiers to conquer Ukraine. Nothing is too low for Putin.
That's just a side benefit of this, that surely does strongly resemble a very amateurish false-flag attack. I give it 50/50 chance Putin's FSB drummed the whole thing up apropos of nothing, to give Putin a pretext to take some even more repressive measure of some kind we have yet to witness. Since in general, Putin just does exactly what he wants with no pretext, reason or warning, though, I can't imagine what such a repressive measure might be.

It once started with CCTV cameras and ended up following even US politics. Besides all those infos and details you use to provide, it´s also the clips in the end of your streams. This mother blew me away: How is it possible, that she is able to tell her child what it´s all about, fighting the tears - while i need to dry my tears until now, while writing a post, sitting in my warm sofa under a peaceful sky?

The fact that they were able to transport arms and ammunition into Russia highlights that this was arranged by the FSB.
Unlikely Russia probably has weapons easily available.
Someone has made the point that the war has generated a brisk black market in weaponry within Russia.
If it is actually that easy to get guns, ammunition, and explosives transported around Moscow... then Russia is weaker than anyone could have imagined.
The FSB were aware of all the details before the attack occurred, took the opportunity to use this attack to justify a large mobilization, to blame Ukraine and the West in order to escalate the war.

Remember the attack years ago in a theater? Blamed on Chechens, Russia then obliterated Grozny. Always been suspected FSB did it so the state could level a city
The timeline was different - the Dubrovka attack happened after Putin waged the second Chechen war after the apartment bombings.
The thing that struck me then was the terrorists had the demand to stop the war(no UN and no demonstrations for ceasefire then) and they immediately freed all non Russian citizens cause they had no business with them. Later on some teens and people with medical conditions. Then they started communicating too much with the hostages, some of them said if released will organise demonstrations cause the narrative was: "we are being killed and you are watching musicals"
Then the gas they used was too potent and killed many of the hostages, some people think it wasn't a meer mistake.
I think he had incident of occupation of school by alleged Chechnya rebels.

It's very frustrating at times for me as an Estonian American and veteran of the Estonian Defense Forces, when I am in conversation with Americans, Germans, western Europeans who believe that Russia is no longer a threat.
Under Dictatior Vladimir Putin, Russia has become Neo Soviet Russia. Dictatior Putin just revived Stalin's SMERCH organization and the Leningrad Military District.
Putin in a new Stalin, a dangerous Neo Soviet gangster thug menace to the peaceful nations of the world.
What needs to be closely monitored if Putin will be able to station more troops and equipment along the border with the Baltic States. Currently, that seems unlikely, but if launches a another wave of mobilisation that might give him enough to start building those new army formations they announced.

I proposed recently to a french-ukr association 2 wide bedrooms 12sq meters (inoccupied, on first floor, for 2 single ladies in need and even a kid or 2, in my wide house located in normandy in a quiet area in the "normand Bocage"... But close to 3 average towns, my property is wide and there are lot of buildings... Agro forestry... Etc ).

Exterminations. I was lucky enough to escape my life long to all these conflicts accrooss the world. But some of my relatives didn 't. They were involved in.. Some died. We were warning them a month ago. This isn't Ukraine's modus opeandi at all.
Pudip can't help himself. He can't think or speak a word without it being a lie. What a useless leader who ignores warnings ... "Blackmail"? What a useless security force whose only talent is sniffing and rooting out a blank piece of paper.
Kids are amazing. This boy proves what I see with my kids every day: they are curious, inocent and a lot stronger than many think. They can take facts as they are. Of course they need our protection. Of course this boy needs his father. May he stay safe and come home when his job is done.
And may this father get the medical attention he is going to need, to be a good father and raise a free Ukrainian boy.
They _are_ stronger than we think- with the right emotional support, of course. I know a couple of kids whose family suffered an absolute tragedy, & of course it affected them, but they're happy kids with a surprisingly mature understanding & acceptance of what happened- they've told me the "story" of it- because of how their parents dealt/deal with it, which includes talking about it openly, not hiding it to "protect" them.

It's actually a US law that we have a duty to warn when we have intel suggesting a terrorist attack is imminent. We even warned Iran, and would probably have to warn N. Korea if that was a thing there. And actually, while I'm on it, this is one of the reasons you know it wasn't Ukraine. We don't warn Russia when Ukraine attacks. Ukraine has the right to hit back, they're at war.

Politics all around, including my own country. I feel so ashamed about this. Promising aid, that does not arrive like promised, but smaller and over a long period of time. What can I do, but watching videos every day about the lack of ammunition in Ukraine and the scary situation in Russia. What can I do but pray, watch and listen.
