Day hiking Leavitt Lake Loop near Sonora Pass, CA 108

We started hiking at 9AM and returned to our car at 2PM.
The plan was summiting Leavitt Peak (11,573′), but we decided to turn around a half mile before the summit as we had to return home by 7PM.
The hiking was easy. The difficult part was driving the 2.8 miles unpaved mountain road from highway 108 to Leavitt Lake. Google maps said that it would take 20 minutes round trip, but it took 1.5 hours for us. As the road was so rough, we couldn't drive no faster than walking speed with our Jeep Grand Cherokee. The last 1.5 miles are especially rough. You can leave your car on the side of the road and walk if you are not comfortable driving the rough road.

I am going for camping at pine crest. Thank you for your video. Now I might go for hiking this loop. Wonderful video. Are we allowed to take our Vehicle till Leavitt lake ? Do we need to take any wilderness permit ?

No permit is required for day hiking.
Yes, you can drive to Leavitt lake if you have high clearance 4x4.
Note that the last 1.5 miles is very rough and the trail is not good for little kids.
