Hello Deon, Thank you so much for introducing Chicken, he is truly a "pretty bird" , my weekend is a success and it hasn't begun yet because we met your official modeling mascot. I noticed the beautiful "chord" of his wings set on alert watching what he must have thought were hawks and eagles' scouting from above. What a very special companion. No telling what he would accomplish by exploring the model room if you weren't there to supervise. Also an excellent canopy formed for the Vampire. I have not built vacuform kits - I have a few in my stash - however I believe the glue recommended is a welding type formulation like ABS glue, it might cloud the "perspex". PVA is a possibility , over all, you know the surface adhesion well and your plan to provide a bit of plastic for support sounds good. The 0-2 Skymaster looked quite nice as well. I've been tempted to build a kit straight from the sprue. The Monogram AT-6 box looks like the one I built in the 80's. At the time there was a silver or aluminum based paint that you sprayed and then rubbed to a shine - it came out quite nice - I made it for my father and used the same aircraft numbers of the picture I had of him in advance training. With all the paints out today there must be something similar. Your weathering is very accurate, just like aircraft in the museum ready to be restored. I completely agree with you on acquiring kits. It's very hard not to "buy" with so many kits coming out from many new companies. Once again a great chat and thank you for sharing Chicken, give him a scratch behind the ear for me. Happy Modeling and Cheers, Bob.

I work on many model kits at once, around 30 plus is the norm, it’s a daft system but it works for me, I’m autistic and it’s good for me, it has the affect that since building models from the 60’s I’ve never lost my mojo, there’s times when it seems nothing gets finished and other times when three or four get finished in quick succession, I just go with it , take care

Hi Deon. I think the idea of putting the framing on the canopy off of the model is a good idea. I would think that way you could get a better purchase on the canopy and maybe leave some excess so you have extra material to sand as required to get a good fit. I really enjoyed seeing your different Harvard builds and the various weathering techniques on them. Quite interesting! Have you ever built the 1:48 T-6G from Ocidental Replicas? It is/was a model company from Portugal. The kit was released by them in 1998, and the Heller released in 2002 with new decals. Italeri then released it in 2006 with new decals. I've got the 1998 release and just pulled it out of the collection to take a look at it. It seems like a nice kit.

An interesting method of flattening tyres that I heard was sitting the completed aircraft on a hot iron. Just enough to flatten and bulge the plastic.
When my build number got out of control I set myself some rules to keep them progressing. Only 2 kits of any one aircraft type. All kits had to progress to the same stage. Firstly - mostly built and ready for primer.
Secondly - painted and gloss coated main colours ready for decals.
That way the production line became more efficient - kind of like the way people batch paint gaming miniatures.

Frame the canopy, then install. Use 5 minute epoxy to attach it. It will provide a stronger bond than white glue. You just need to be careful with application. If you do want to build a frame, perhaps Milliput, but I think the epoxy should be strong enough. I think it will be a good idea to complete some of those nearly finished projects. I have a saying that if you have something that is constantly on your mind but don't do anything about it, then it owns you. So that squeaky door that you need to lube (your nearly complete models) will own you until you get it done.
