Hi, a possible reason for this is excel reads your GDP column as text instead of values. You will have to get rid of the hidden spaces from the figures to isolate the numerical values. You can select the GDP column, go to Data - Text To Columns, and try to apply a space delimited separation. After that you may try again to create the map and it should most likely work.
