Some roads ad neighborhoods are so bad the city simply block them off. E. Cleveland didn't want to be a part of bigger Cleveland, opting to stand on its own. Economic base was lost, and you have Detroit 2.0. E. Cleveland is definitely one of the worst places for deterioration in the country. No place in America should look like this.

I think if people could look at content providers that are excellent like Charlie b, etc, they would discover that rural poverty is really neglectful. When you c e d e from a major urban area you lose out on all those services and you begin to get the type of poverty you see and very rural areas. The type of poverty that affects health, and many other things.

Man, I see these neighborhoods and imagine them with sleek 50s automobiles on a summer day with back yard bbq's going everywhere with sounds of happy laughter, well kept yards and homes. A wonderful time in US history replaced by a frightful landscape and dreadful prospects
The only reason these buildings on Chapman Ave are so scary is that they are still standing. Calumet Ave and Prairie Ave on Chicago’s South Side would have *hundreds* of these, but the city removed them. Same cause etc.
My guess is that as the population shrank, the least desirable places were the hardest to fill, so the small units in the apartment buildings became empty first. Also, most of those "houses" are split up into units as well. Which is common in the northeast and great lakes. People always comment how big the "houses" are out here, but they don't realize they're essentially just apartment buildings in the shape of a house.
A movie company should buy a huge city block like those abandoned apartment buildings and use them for war movies, dystopia, apocalypse and zombie films. Fence them off and have security guard them. Would create jobs.
Honestly a great idea homie... Even if it's just a few blocks, that's a few blocks that will actually be serving a purpose and not just sitting there doing nothing. A company could make the fences look nice and welcoming too, like a theme park attraction. Natural weathering and decay would look awesome in a war or zombie movie too
Many of the people who own their homes here are elderly and they do they best they can. When they die, the houses often get sold off to slumlords who just rent them at a low price and don't take care of them until they fall apart. This is a suburb too, so it depends very heavily on the economy of the nearby city which has been declining for decades.
What’s so crazy is up the street there’s brand new condos, shopping, restaurants, hospitals, Universities, walking traffic etc.. I see EC fixing itself because it’s so close to so much but it’ll take awhile to get people to move there.
In every Challie Bo video, we see the bombed out desolation, then we see that FIRST SIGN of habitation. First sign of civilization. In this case, the Jeep cherokee at 0:25 . Those gotta be the toughest people in Ohio.

I worked on RANDALL PARK MALL, was one of the world's largest enclosed shopping malls when it opened in 1976. Owned and operated by DeBartolo, the mall was a success, with collective first-year sales of $140 million. Although Randall Park siphoned off business from other shopping centers, it did not cause any to close. In 1995 the 120-store mall employed 5,000 people. Currently leveled.
i remember it well. used to love the video game arcade and all the different stores and restaurants. then it suddenly changed and it wasn't a good idea for me and my friends to show up there. shortly after that one store after another shut down. I left for the military and when I came back it was an empty shell.

Almost any predominately black area looks like this or is fading into this general direction. This channel shows a steady example of black neighborhoods from just about everywhere in the US and they all pretty much look the same.

Detroit still is worse than this as it's fall was more dramatic. Same reasons why both cities fell so hard, but Detroit was king of manufacturing, and fell the farthest. Very sad state of affairs!
I have come up with a use for these abandon neighborhoods in Detroit, while we wait until they are demolished. We create a television series called, "The Last of Us...in Michigan!" All we need are a bunch of people to wear worn out clothing and makeup, and we have our zombies! We get Sam Raimi to produce the series. We probably make millions for the city of Detroit!
Sad to see this country in this state of decay. I wish we would do something to make our areas nice again. Pick up trash on side of highways, demolish and rebuild the buildings here. Keep the cost of living low and give these hard hit areas a chance to rebuild and give people a better environment to live in. I'd sign up in a second to help rebuild our communities.
It'd be way better to demolish those derelict buildings and let nature reclaim those areas. I know various cities in the area, like Cleveland, had legal issues taking buildings down. The state really needs to streamline that process if they can...
I had an idea to buy out a block and convert it to a paintball park. To give the young shooters a better activity to partake in. Also was gonna start up an LLC for a multifaceted Demolition program to clean up some of the mess and start anew.

They need a plan. Without a plan there's no attack. With no attack, there's no victory. Create a department with all kinds of people and construction and demo crews, find out which houses need to go, tear them down. It would start a new renaissance and employ the whole area.

Also, shipping on Lake Erie was just recovering from two decades of low water levels. These factors pushed investors to build elsewhere rather than construct new factories along the lakeshores. In turn, other states offered irresistible tax incentives. As well, winters here are too brutal to balance our gorgeous summers. "Those jobs are gone, and they ain't coming back."
Most of these hoods, deteriorated so bad, due to high crime rates, not loss of income from closing business industries. Clean-up the streets of bad elements, people will come in give low cost loans to rebuild new houses, improve infrastructure people will be back and so does businesses.

Demolishing a building is a costly process. The perennial problem in Detroit is that it costs more to demolish a house than the lot is worth.

I lived there 30 years ago, west side. It was alright but the east side was shitty even then and east Cleveland and Euclid was hood then, too

Most of these hoods, deteriorated so bad, due to high crime rates, not loss of income from closing business industries. Clean-up the streets of bad elements, people will come in give low cost loans to rebuild new houses, improve infrastructure people will be back and so does businesses.

Hi from southern New Jersey! Where are the elementary schools located? We have a neighborhood school next to the development where I live. I taught for 25 years in a rural district. Are any of these buildings schools that have been abandoned?
It's a elementary school by my neighborhood on Noble rd. And one near Eddy rd area.

East Cleveland basically is a run down suburb of Cleveland. Its surrounded by Cleveland on 3 sides of the city.
East Cleveland is a separate city from Cleveland...it has separate tax base, government, and safety forces from Cleveland.
