I think it's a good idea to get Freeview TV if you're without an ariel and if you're already a virgin broadband customer. Admittedly this might be somewhat of a niche audience and you might need to compliment with another streaming device like Google TV or Fire TV in order to get the majority of the best streaming services. The only problem is I cannot find where you can purchase one as an existing virgin bb customer on their website and I suspect they're gonna try to make us sign up to a new contract to get it!

We added our Netflix through our virgin account and they charged both the Netflix fee and an additional admin fee which they didn’t mention. They then refused to cancel it we were forced to cancel our entire package. DONTDO IT!!!

I was looking into the prices for this and it really isn't a great deal when compared to even their standard cable packages and actually works out a little more expensive if you were to take the same channels as the bigger bundle and that is with a slow speed too. I'm going to be interested to see if BT offers the discovery plus channels as part of their service soon for no extra cost as they may end up being the better flexible choice out there since you can still get the occasional good discount for Now TV channels on there. The only thing I se this as being good for is a replacement freeview service for areas that have poor signal, it's just a shame it only works with their own broadband and no one else's because after the first new contract they really try and hike up the prices.

I have a technical question, I have Virgin at home and the streaming box. Can I use it only with my Virgin connection? Or I can take it to my friend's house, who also has Virgin? So does that mean that the service only works on Virgin IP addresses? And that means if I set up a home VPN server connected to Virgin on one side, on the other side I can connect to it as if I was at home and use the box anywhere in the world?
Remember that on NOW TV you have to pay £6 per month for HD via Boost so Virgin is often cheaper as HD is standard. Now TV's standard picture setting is 720p...not much fun on a 4K TV .

Hi I'm currently with sky TV and broadband im at the end of contract and in my 31 days notice period. My last payment is at the beginning of January. I'm thinking of switching to BT. Should I do it now or wait till after I've made the last payment in January. I'm a little bit confused.
I called virgin today to get one of these, they told me they couldn’t as I already had a tv package with them. My contract expires next month so cancelling everything apart from broadband then hopefully they’ll give me one.
Good luck with that. I had them breach an 18m contract and was paid compensation after reporting to ofcom. They finally cancelled all services after 3hrs over 2days on the phone. 2weeks later they set up a new contract, lied and said if I didn't agree to it, it must have been someone else. So not the account holder that has to go through security checks. I complained to ofcom again and was asked to forget about it by virginmedia. It was a dishonest member of staff trying to get a bonus by starting new contracts when people had cancelled and had it confirmed. I was asked to cancel the unauthorised contract and had to spend 2 hours on the phone. It was a terrible experience. Tier 1 & 2 will lie to keep you, they lose money in bonuses if you downgrade, that's why they will not give you a box. The outbound team have continued to harass me by phone all day today. Reported to ofcom again and the Ombudsman. Virginmedia will not reduce prices. You have to call at the start of the month when they can give a reduction, but prices will go up so you will pay more as they hide the real costs. The ICO is investigating why they refuse to delete old customer data and accounts when people leave them and ask.
I think the real reason why virgin has launched this stream box and for it to be only available for new customers without a existing TV package. Is to get back customers who went off and got an IPTV subscription but still kept virgin broadband. Today I was able to go through checkout with only sports channels and no need to add entertainment channels and with the current black Friday deals it is very competitive even for a religious IPTV streamer. They will know you're streaming too, as your data usage will be high
Stream sounds like a good idea in theory though doesn't offer the wide variety of additional streaming channels like Roku offers, also several of the key Freeview channels are missing
On my stream sky sports was £18.50 for the first 18 months 30 day rolling but I can seem to find any way of cancelling it do you know they give me a QR code I use and it redirects me to the wrong web pages on my virgin media with no options. I've phoned virgin but they don't know how you cancel the deals as they don't have access to the device like TV Box and can't cancel over phone as they have to record.

I asked for it then was told by the terrible customer service that 50mb wasent fast enough id have to upgrade to 40 pound bb before.. thats b.s as i stream live now fine on now tv and the virgin app in my laptop.. also the prices are so expensive compared to now tv ridiculously expensive and we all now how virgin charge.. will probably be 2 months in advance be hard as hell to work out how to cancel will be charged pro rota... plus charging 35 for a device with an app on is a big con they could just release an app. I dont see any benefit of this over now at all.... why not just log on your account on laptop or phone or whatever in bedroom all your channels are there?I gave my logon to my lad so when hes upstairs on computer he can watch tv if he fancies.

The box is actually really good - and I would say more reliable than Sky Glass. But here is the problem - its Virgin! We have tried to add BT Sport to our package for the last nine months. Can they sort out the problem - No!
Hi Andy,further to my comment about RTE 1and 2 which you listed as available on the list of Freeview channels, I've done some checking and I think you'll find that they are only available on Freeview in Northern Ireland and not England so not quite sure where you obtained your list. It's always been a bone of contention that Sky package holders in Ireland can get UK channels but Sky UK can't get Irish channels. All to do with licencing apparently...or so we are told..Great financial info,keep it up.

virgin most of the time is the cheapest option for most people's need now tv is quite inconsistent in terms of it's pricing and if you bundle most of their services together it's 100% a lot cheaper than any other option out there

Hello I having a real problem getting my first credit card to build credit, took out a loan on a pc at probably the worsted time beginning of COVID just before all the bull, i wasn't working for along time & it destroyed my credit... I recently heard of the "Discover it Secured, 0% annual fee, no credit check, card card" saddly though I live in the UK so I can't get that, is their any UK equivalent or any tips on getting a card to build up credit I'm not sure what too do it's rather overwhelming.

I've paid £3.99 a month for now entertainment for the past year and get boost for £2 so the virgin entertainment isn't worth considering for me

I'll try VM stream box, I've had issues with nowtv.. pixilated picture and audio issues on numerous streaming devices.

I noticed RTE 1 & 2 were listed on the Freeview list you showed on screen. I didnt think these channels were available in UK. Very interesting..
