Now that you said that i remember i was really wondering few days ago how will sound metal music for 20,30 years, while i have good chance to still be alive. I am 40 now and exactly when i was born , metal just started to be a distinct genre, not just another word for hard rock bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, AC-DC , there were Iron Maiden and other NWOBHM bands, Judas Priest at that time made heavy metal albums like British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance, Venom was the most shocking band at that time, and very soon there were many genres-speed, power, thrash and little later doom, death, black

You can listen to their songs and enjoy them as the whole piece but at the same time, when you are focusing on one instrument/vocals only, you can beautifully separate it(in your head) from the rest of the band and enjoying it on another level of the song.
