I am going to your channel anytime the skies look bad. I am about 1hr from Whitman. I heard a ambulance call bringing in a 20 year old thrown around in a tornado to our town from Whitman. His injuries did not sound life threatening thank God. I was clueless anything was going on. Thank you for watching out for us country folks. I hope no 1 else was injured.

@@underfirej If you cant precisely predict, how can you timely warn? Ive lived in 7 different states. Indiana, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Michigan, Maryland and Delaware. The weather is ordinarily very different from the south to the northeast. But its still unpredictable. Just last year we had a tornado in Delaware, which is very rare. From the storm development to the tornado to the dissipation took around 30 minutes. We are the best we’ve ever been at predicting and “warning” than ever in mankind’s history and we still get it wrong 95% of the time.

@@barnetra this isn't about prediction though. This tornado was clearly on the ground for so so long, with nobody seeming to notice and warn anyone. This is about recognizing danger when it's clearly present and taking action, which was where the NWS failed here.

Max nailed it with calling the Whitman rotation! Disappointed that the Whitman tornado was unwarned for so long. Rare exception. NWS warnings save lives every single day especially in the past 20 years with automated phone warnings
which have made uncoordinated tornado sirens obsolete.

I have to imagine there was some sort of communication issue or outage here. That's obvious enough I could probably catch it, and my knowledge on how to catch these is learned from these streams. I hope whatever issue occurred gets fixed soon, because this is a bad miss of a warning (it took about 14 minutes from Max catching it for them to warn it, once it got through the town).
Props to Max for catching this. I'm hearing on twitter that damage is thankfully relatively mild in Whitman, and hopefully that's true.

The population of Whitman says 288. Did it not get upgraded to tornado because of how rural it is? It makes no sense that nobody from the proper channels saw what you saw. Thank you so much for the amazing work you do. I stumbled onto your video this morning (the morning after) when searching to see if anything was caught on camera from the many storms yesterday. I did notice, not sure if it was the same tornado, from TornadoHQ website that nothing was warned in an area that looked bad then when I reloaded the map, the red (they use red) appeared.
You definitely have a new subscriber. Hopefully you trust your gut and not doubt yourself moving forward. Amazing reporting.

Consider how much worse weather predictions were literally 20-40 years ago. Under 100 years ago the word "tornado" was taboo and not even allowed to be said on broadcasts. We now all have cell phones that give us real-time warnings, the Storm Prediction Center who makes daily outlooks you can look at, and the Weather (dot) gov site where you can see the entire countries active weather warnings. If you stay aware and slightly educated, it is really not a big deal, especially so now compared to historically speaking. Imagine a mile wide F5 coming at you 100 years ago and thinking it was just a big storm cloud.

What more details would you need to know? There was a tornado (reported on the ground, photographed, and clearly present on radar) and NWS did not issue a tornado warning. They were at least 10 minutes late to the party, according to some sources they were as much as 30 minutes delayed after the first reports were made. Those facts are evident.

Don't confuse Max with Connor, though. Connor provides a service (storm chasing) that Max uses to supplement his content, providing a valuable on the ground perspective to Max's audience. The fact that Connor gets quite excited about seeing a tornado should not be a surprise. He's a storm chaser. It's what they do. He wasn't cheering for anyone to get injured or property to be damaged. He was just excited to see a tornado.

I’ve come to recognize over the years that storm chasers never genuinely care about humans or animals losing their lives or their livelihood. What do they care about? They care only about their own fun and adrenaline rush. They’re essentially like drug addicts, they must acquire their high from seeing tornadoes, it is their dopamine.

@@NotMolly-jf2rh I watch Connor every day and .just like pretty much every other storm chaser, When it’s in an open field of course he gets excited. It’s his passion. Just like most storm chasers get excited to see a tornado drop in an open field. I was watching Connor during the janestown Wisconsin tornado the other day and he got very somber and upset when he realized a tornado was on the ground in a populated area. Even though chasers get excited, they do sooo much good by warning people and also helping with aftermath. I promise you storm chasers do not want a tornado to ever hit a town or destroy someone’s home or injure/kill someone. Connor is amazing at what he does.
