thank you for sharing! I got here from someones comment to check this song out as well and I am further amazed by her skill. Her vocal style has always reminded me of a song bird and she reallly knows how to interpret to a feeling.
I would loooove to cover this song but those vocal gymnastics are insane reminds me of Liz Fraser of Cocteau Twins to a degree

She is not using autotune...
Teletrip Mos Defs autotune, my friend. Maybe she can do similar things without autotune, but that is clearly what she is using here.
Keith Klassen it is on record that she didn't use autotune on this song.
+Keith Klassen - what she's doing is bouncing between head register and chest register, the same as when people yodel. Famous example in popular music is Cranberries Zombie. Another example of Polachek doing this is about 2min30sec into Ramona Lisa - Dominic. Here in Unhold she's playing with the transition-less sound of bouncing between the registers to mimic the sound of playing vocals in reverse, or the jumpiness of autotune.
I am very familiar with that technique; I do it quite often myself, and this doesn't sound like it to me. Or rather, it sounds like it, but not right. Sounds like autotune assist, which is why I said so.
