The switch has an extra connection, for ground. Good. I just did a wiring fix on a friend's Les Paul (my first adventure in electric guitar land), and that was the only bit I wasn't sure I got right. Looks like I did, after all. Thanks.
Holy crap, thanks so much for these videos man!!!! Most helpful things I have ever found to understand the concepts behind how guitar electronics work. Really impressive stuff.
Excellent! I wired it first try with no buzzing or nuisance noise. 7:34 Diagram was perfect. I wired it with one grounded volume pot in the hot line. Thanks so much.
Best explanation I've seen so far. I wish you could do the same but with one volume knob in there. Also it would be great to show pictures of how it actually looks as well. Great work either way. Thanks!
Hello first I would like to thank you for this incredible video they are awesome. I have a must needed favor to ask of you, and that is could you please show me how to wire my active humbucker pickups to a 3 way switch and to my output jack. Could you please draw it out for me? its my sons birthday And I'm upgrading his guitar for his birthday.
Question: Is it possible to replace a 3-way toggle with a pot in order to dial in the different levels of the bridge/neck pickup? If so, then what issues would I face? In other words, I want 3 pots and no pickup selector instead of 2 pots and a pickup selector.
yes, you´ll need a rotary switche. they are used on basses instead of standard switches. but the principle on how they work and how to put them in the circuit is exactly the same.
So in a master volume setup the volume pot goes between the switch and the output jack. In the situation you asked about the two volume pots go between the individual pickups and the switch. Effectively controlling how much of the signal goes to the switch and out to the output jack.
You have a lot of confidence in what you do. But you overestimated that regular people don’t find this to be simple. Your next video should be you actually wiring a switch in real time.
As with any rubbish teacher, this guy's opening remark is to tell his pupils that it is so simple they must be stupid not to understand. Everything thereon is presented as obvious! If it were so obvious then why would I seek out such a video in the first place? I watched two minutes and that was enough.
did you ever have that big AHA moment when you finally understood something that seemed complicated and then realized how easy it actually is? that´s the point.
Im more confused than i’ve ever been in my life after watching this
ye lmao

Fabulous, love the detailed explain for every stage

You explain this better than any other youtuber. Thank you
Last week I planned to switch PickUps.
I need to switch nearly all hardware.
Why are you now making these videos just NOW 😂❤️
I spent so much time looking for this simple, simple explanation. Thank you so much!

Great video - tried wiring diagrams from 2 major pickup manufacturers with no luck. Watched this and got it done. Thanks!

This dude should be the one explaining how to achieve peace in the Middle East! He is awesome!
Good one. Thank you
Thank you. I think i finally get it.
This video made my day! 🙂
I had it totally wrong by thinking way too complicate.
I am loving these videos! I'm not sure how I found your channel but I'm glad i did!
Thanks a lot!
perfect video, my english is really poor, but you explain this really easy for dummies!!
great thank you
Thank you. Finally got my Jackson sorted. 😎👍🎸
Thank you! Best explanation!
thanks for making this, cheers
Great explanation
Oh man I went looking for the 4 conductor videos but I guess they never got made?
Thx for the video, you helped me a lot.
Very informative, thank you
Great, see how that works. Just a shame my guitar has a volume and tone pot in the equation.
Where do I connect the 2 tone knobs in the first diagram with 2 single coils
Thanks for the lesson.
i wish every tutorial was to the point like this one
Finally, a clear and simple explanation! Thank you. I only wish I’d found it sooner.
You’re awesome for making these videos. I would just recommend making your paint illustrations a little larger.
thanks for the feedback. i´ll definitely keep it in mind.
I'd love to see those tutorials on 4 conductor humbuckers
11:04
how do you bridge these gaps can someone help me do you just take a piece of wire and solder them to the connections ? i am bad at electric
i.e @7:36 would i just take a piece of wire and solder it to A1+A2+B2+B3?
Will you show me how to wire a switchcraft 3-way slider switch? I want to us it as a pickup selector switch, instead of a blade or toggle switch.

dont u need tog round the first 3way selector? im confused

@@ForTiorIJohnny So it HAS to be s selector of some kind?
how about 4 way and 5 way? and thanks for what you do
How come you don't have to ground the blade switch? Is it internally grounded?
It's on the positive wire. And just connects things together
How do you wire a tele switch in series?
All I have to say is, thank you and I'm stupid.
Not the most horrible teacher...........................
hi - great vid! would you know how to wire two pickups with independent volumes for each pickup? NO tone knob.
So in a master volume setup the volume pot goes between the switch and the output jack. In the situation you asked about the two volume pots go between the individual pickups and the switch. Effectively controlling how much of the signal goes to the switch and out to the output jack.
@@beast99dp26 thanks for this. Is a switch necessary?
But my switch is different

Hows that bugera?
it´s fine. makes great clean and crunch tones. not exactly a high gain amp, but with a boost pedal it can roar.
This dosen't tell me dick. Humbuckers have like four colored wires. NOT ONE. If I have 3 pots they two aren't hooked up with one wire.
yeah, these are not really stand alone videos. you´d need to watch my whole series for it to make sense.
I believe it is easier. You made it complicated sorry. I'm all but confused
