So, Basically Sargam does not have any Meaning. Sargam refers to singing the notes, primarily used in our Indian music, instead of the words of composition, using various ornamentations such as meend, gamak, kan, and khatka, as part of a khyal performance. It's a bit Difficult to Understand.

Arijit has a strong classical base. You can check his old videos when he was a boy. He has given quite a lot of classical performance. He has said in several interviews that pure Indian classical music is for meditational, purpose. And for improving concetration etc. So he basically sings semi classical. That's his view. But only a person with strong classical base can sing like this. Yes, he is absolutely versatile. No doubt. But there are pure classical singers in India. Names are endless.

Sargam is the blend of 7 musical notes of Indian classical music. They are Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni. Just like the 7 notes of Western classical music Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti. Please check Shreya's original version of Me Re Dhol Na. It's just mind blowing. See her live performance on it.

  • @ChimpBoi493
    @ChimpBoi493 Před rokem +13

Hey Leo! Your reaction was profound and it joys me to see non-South Asians listen to and react to Indian classical music the way you did. A "sargam" does not involve words, but the musical notes "sa, re, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni" that correspond to the western notes "do, re, mi....". By combining these main notes and other microtones, you can express various situations from the time of the day, emotions, to even seasons. This song here expresses a joyous moment in a royal family, where two dancers are expressing their love for each other. Sargams can be created and taught. It basically supports the notion that in music, words are not necessarily needed to express thoughts and emotions.

And it is said that once you got perfect in Indian classical music than you can sing any kind of song in this whole world . And Arijit Singh is one of those perfectionist. For eg. 1) yes within a moment you realised it is classical based song. 👌
    2) indian classical music without lyrics and words. Hence it completely rely on sargam.
    3) off course to listen classical music you essentially required extremely nice ears. Unless its not everyone cup of tea. Even many indians who do not understand classical music call it as boring.
4)i hope very soon you may start listning indian classical both vocal and instrumental. But for your own soul. Listening to indian classical will deepen your knowledge about indian music.
    5) this song is related to past. Which you guess correctly. This song is picturised on dead lovers in past who got killed by king in movie.

Sargam refers to the octave. It is the total 8 notes. We named them as:
Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa.
So each word defines a specific note. So Re note has to be pronounced as Re and Ma note has to be pronounced as Ma. So when you are singing sargam, instead of humming, you have to pronounce the nomenclature of each note which you are singing. As all melody in the world can be defined in octave, hence all songs can be broken in sargam. In preliminary classical music teaching, students tries to break down toughest songs into proper octaves or sargam.

But actually sargam is written on the paper. And it's memorized by the vocalists. Particularly in case of this song, it is hell yes memorized by him, and not something he is doing randomly. You can refer to the a previous version of this song sung by Shreya Ghosal which has 90 % similar sargam (why 90? It's because some notations in the sargam are modified by the music composer in this version, and even some new sargam is added in the middle part of the song).

Classical music is the core of Indian and Pakistani music.
It consists of seven notes Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni and a that's just the most basic part of it..it's very complex to understand...it's basically like the theorems and experiment that we do before coming to a result..classical music is the theory from which all results come out...it's very technical...it's the frame on which music stands...

So sir basically the sa re ga ma is practice of classical music but also is the 7 main chords it's also the vowels it is similar to do re mi fa so la ti ...in hindi and the last sargam arijit sang are the lyrics he had to revise but arijit learnt it easily because he practiced and practices the sargam hour and hours a day till now in fact he practices a lots of things you will hear it if you have done ear training i think he is the only singer that can hit a note perfectly and hold it straight without vibrato etc just straight and he can do it for almost 30 seconds most people don't even know but I would let you know arijit Singh is also a composer writer movie and music director producer vocalist instrumentalist and he never ever sings a song without adding his own melody or instrument to it that's why if you listen to a lot of his songs you would be able to tell what instrument he added because he has a specific style of music which also complements the music

After learning sargam in n no. of permutations and combinations for 30 years it comes naturally as per the mood of the raag, same as piccaso drawing an art in 30 second. This song is pure representation of shastriya Sangeet in terms of mood, singing, music etc.

Sargam refers to the 7 notes in classical Indian music ( similar to do, re, mi, fa in Western music). It's generally a play of the notes in order that the song is composed on.

Sargam is the same as doremifadolati. Sargam just means improvisations between these 7 notes

In the ending it’s like he’s singing and the instruments follow his notes. He’s leading and the instruments are following him. In Indian classical you can literally sing every note and communicate with your fellow musicians about the time signature and even the notes.

And sa re ga ma are just like do re mi fa so, but in raag they are combined in a very kind of structures

Sargam can be and in this case is memorised. Since Sargam is literal vocalisation of the tune.
