  • CZcamsrs I'd like to swap collection with, if asked the question:
    - Jersey knife guy (he's got a knife room....enough said)
    - Warthogg (obviously I'm not mad)
    - Paddy (varied and brilliant collection)
    - Slick slicers (Sheffield... need I say anymore)
    - Rasputins castle (insane collection)
    Collections I aspire to : ).

Mate if only we had the cutlers they had then. We still have some bloody good ones. But I think they definitely had more than we have now. Cheers Doug always good hearing from you mate! 👊

I agree brother - Empire was legendary!...In my collector book, they're rated "Top Priority" - which means snatch one up if you can.
    That's a beautiful Cattle knife.
I'm a sucker for old jigged brown bone - It's probably real Rogers bone. Empire is from Connecticut...lol, there you go - you just said it.
All the east coast companies had Rogers Mfg. Co. running in circles with orders - 24/7 back then.
    There's my Empire!😂
    Oh that barlow 😍
Awesome info & fantastic pictures mate!
This is brilliant Martin! You're smashing all the boundaries here, I love it brother!
Thanks for the kind words mate - much appreciated 🙏

That barlow Rick...I know I nearly spat my tea out when I saw that 😂🤣. I love a Barlow with a spear also. With the stamped bolster!! 🤯🫠
I just bought that antique knife book I mentioned in this. I seem to be buying more books than knives atm 😂. I found some old catalogues in print and had to get them😮.
Hope you are good. Always keeping the community in my prayers. 🫡 👊

@@SteelCityKnives I had to watch this a 2nd time brother! Amazing knife - That snap is insane...lol
Also read some of the graphics you put up, really good stuff mate.
I know how the addiction to knowledge works my friend, I've purchased a Case Bros. book & a Russell Green River Works Co. Book to go with my Boker & Western Cutlery Co Books! lol
You'll enjoy that Goins book, it's one I don't have now but I'm confident I'll acquire someday.
It's great to hear your enthusiasm about this knife! I've mentioned it before on my channel. Some of Sheffield's best cutlers immigrated to the USA in the mid to late 19th & early 20th centuries, Taking the American knife making business to a whole new level.
I'm doing well & Thanks again mate.
Best wishes for health & happiness to you & your family!🙏
      Cheers Brother!👊

I bought another book. They want £175 for Goins over here the last time I looked 😮. The knife makers that West is on the list to get also. Loved your videos on it.
      The hunt continues 😂
The last Boker book is available readily over here at an OK price.
      Cheers Rick 👊

Beautiful Cattle slip my friend 👍 Definitely The build of that Knife is truly as good as it gets. Yes the Golden Era was pre-ww-2. In the USA -Actually probably 1890-mid 30’s. After the Depression things began to change. CASE Cutlery overshadows so many of the great Early Cutlery Firm’s. I especially favor the Knives by these other Early Cutlery companies. I subbed your channel! I will check out Warthog1 also. Best! Dwayne

Thanks for the information on the golden era of cutlery.
America had so many brilliant cutlery companies. It's so hard to get over here. I'm trying to find a seller on AAPK who delivers to the UK.
I owe my love to American cutlery to Warthogg. Brilliant channel with a brilliant collection. He is in I'll health atm. If you leave a comment, send him my regards.
Thank you, Dwayne. Big fan of your channel.

      Hi mate 👋
Have you seen the retro 51 in a brass antique look. I think I might pick it up. I'm thinking about changing over to a fountain pen soon. Enjoying the channel, brother. 👊

    • @PensandPenBlades
      @PensandPenBlades Před 6 měsíci

@@SteelCityKnives Yes, I've seen the brass one. Looks Nice! I Don't own one in brass, but I have one of their fountain pens and it is a great writer. Has nice weight that feels good in the hand. Two problems I have with it is the threading for the screw on cap isn't the best and the ink cartridge/converter sits in it a little loosely. Still a great pen. Sorry didn't mean for that to turn into a full review. Thanks brother, Enjoying your channel too!

Rick is a good friend of mine. We’ve been friends ever since his channel began. Is collection is quite amazing! With us both having our health issues, we have shared a lot of mutual support.
You’re right about CZcams, not being a money maker, at least not if you’re interested in such a niche area as you and I are. What is true, though, is that you meet some great people.
The seahorse Whitler seems to have taken over from what was really The original Wharncliffe.
I’m also a big fan of Congy. Mark has been very helpful when it has come to acquiring knives. His prices are generally pretty reasonable, but is willingness to accept trades has been my biggest help.

    • @SteelCityKnives
      @SteelCityKnives  Před 6 měsíci

I think we spoke of this before Eric. I am terrible at trades and regretted them instantly 😂. But I have traded with Congy a couple of times. I traded a couple of beautiful peach pruners in a trade consisting of a few knives. One in stag and one in horn. Never saw any stag or horn like it since 😢.
We are very lucky to have people like Congy. I always try and give them a shout out when I can. Without them we would have to import everything. Which is costly in itself. And risky these days.
Meeting all the like-minded people is kinda why I do this. It's been brilliant. I'm feel very fortunate. And that people have taken me under their wing.
      Cheers Eric
P.S. If I can be very blunt....whens your next bloody video 😂🤣

G'day mate; I bought an Empire unbeknownst a few months ago; straight away I knew it was an exceptional I knife, you however the first to inform me of the company. I also have gotten a George Wolhestien of the same period as yours with the black synthetic covers..great knife's though I'm thinking of putting ebony or horn on. The keyboard is playing up so sorry it reads badly. Oil the joints! Good work giving shout out to warthog, the man is a legend!!
