- Why bother? Protests don't do anything in Ireland, nothing has been fulfilled successfully by protesting in this country unless the government wanted it to happen. The have never successfully changed their minds at the behest of the people in this century
Well said, I've been saying this for years. I was at many of the protests in the last few years, but very little has ever come out with a positive result, or if it did get a result it was small and short-term. I remember back in the 90's protesting for disability rights and we stayed outside government buildings for days on end. Hence today we have accessible transport, ramps in all new buildings and many old ones converted, equal opportunities for employment etc... But what did we get from water protests, an allowance, that's all, and the meters are still there for the majority.
Problem is there are so many unregistered voters that there is no reason to fear the electorate because they know that even by the 8th count Varadkar will get in

As for Iceland it has a tiny population with a very liberal government so it wouldn't take much to sway them .The sit -down tactic wouldn't fare well in Ireland as the Irish people are more on their knees as proven by covid .
I'll give you that one
INP, IFP, O' Doherty etc. aren't the problem either, why would you focus on them given none are in any position of political power?.....you're a strange one.
Ifs more the trouble they caused on the streets in the name of protesting, that damaged any future protests, or does everything boil down to political power here?
@@irishwolfhound1448 Ah now.
@@merrybutcher2978 not the answer you were looking for then?
@@irishwolfhound1448 The same corruption that destroyed the church has destroyed democracy in Ireland.
