Hey LLYT, you mentioned somewhere in this video that the turtles are hardy. Is that bc of their shells? I’ve heard other people say fish are hardy and I just thought their scales were harder than other fishes. Maybe I misunderstood what they were talking about. Either way I think the Australian fish have been bread to avoid way more aggressive predators since they are from Australia. I guess only 6 come from the hood breading line tho. As always I love your content.
How brotha! Great videos, I’ve been watching them from time to time since having a new 125 gallon set up for my 2 male RES. What is your experience on heaters? I had a Hygger 800watt that recently blew up while in the tank! Scary, and glad the turtles are ok. But it’s hard to find a good one as they all have good and bad reviews. What your opinion?
Thank you for sharing all your experiences with fish living with pet turtles, I haven’t been able to make a decision for mine. I have plenty of time to consider since I do currently have fish but I’ve decided to pick something else when they are gone
I am always jealous when people are able to add fish to their tanks. I tried twice last month (this was not the first time). End result was no fish remaining. They did leave a parting gift though... TAPE WORMS! I think my girl is just not meant to have fishy tankmates. :(
Do you think I could keep 5-6 rainbows in a 60 tall with a single hatchling musk turtle long term? I think it should be fine as I expect the musk will stay on the bottom most of the time and the rainbows will be mid water or top water most of the time. I think it should work fine but haven’t seen much info on it
Oh for sure. There will always be a chance that your turtle could eat them in the future as they are basically food but they are quick and were near impossible for my turtles to catch.
@@LongLiveYourTurtle that’s what I was thinking as well, my musk turtle is very slow and derpy, he’s only ever caught one fish and it was half dead already😅 so I don’t think that really counts to much, and even when he’s fully grown, he’ll only be 4.5-5 inches, about the same size as the rainbows, think everything should work out fine:)
Are you sure your tank is big enough for silver dollars? Won’t they get bigger than your turtles? Once the fish get big, they become easier for the turtles to bite also.
They wont get any bigger than the turtles and in a 210 they are thriving. If they grow full size that means they learned to avoid the turtles so I’m not worried about it. Thanks for the comment!
So 40% of the fish were wiped out in two weeks. My turtles would call that a tasty succes, the fish not so much xD

Hardy means that they don’t get sick and die very easily.

I have 25 tiger barbs, 3 rainbow sharks and a L340 Pleco. Have maybe last 10 barbs in 4 months?

My pearl danios and Buenos Aires tetras all hang out together in one of my turtle tanks.
Also, how do you keep your sand so clean?!
