ABOUT UPROXX INDIE MIXTAPE:
Indie Mixtape is the go-to for all things indie music. We serve as a funnel to make sure that only the best music -- new and old -- is delivered directly to the people who care the most.
Indie is more than a music genre. It's a sensibility. The indie fan may be overlooked in our current cultural climate, but they're alive and well -- going to see live music, visiting art galleries, and prioritizing substance over facade. This is for you. - Hudba
I have seen multi million dollar budget Hollywood movies with less story and acting ability than this short video, brilliant.
With young Bilbo there in the crowed.
Anyways, these are all top british actors
Facts
This video is like something out of the World of David Lynch.
Voz de Mike Patton e performance de David Hoyle. Espetacular!
The director was able to encapsulate the everyday life of British kids and the daydreams of a working class doomed to be alive... the main actress gives me goosebumps, her reactions are so believable...
Plus... she's hot 🔥 💋 👄 🥵
Patton is amazing, FNM amaizing, the way they told the story is amazing, the british actors are amazing
2:40 - it's beautiful how subtle this part is. Probably the best 1 second of direction/action you will ever see in a music video.
Faith No More originally covered "I Started a Joke" as a b-side for their 1995 single "Digging the Grave". It also appeared on some versions of their fifth studio album King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime but following the band's dissolution in 1998 it was released as their final single with their greatest hits album Who Cares a Lot?. The music video was filmed on 8 September 1998, after Faith No More had disbanded five months earlier and featured none of the band members. (Some fans claim that Mike Patton is the singer just leaving the stage as the video is beginning.) It was directed by Vito Rocco, filmed by Nick Sawyer with make-up by Julie Nightingale and Dani Richardson with Gabi Norland as the clapper-loader. British actors Martin Freeman and Shaun Dingwall both feature in the promo, along with performance artist David Hoyle as the karaoke singer, and also stars Michelle Butterly of the ITV series, Benidorm. Derren Litten, the writer of Benidorm and a contributor to The Catherine Tate Show, is also seen in the video.
The 2016 Rhino / Reprise B-side release of this track had the Bee Gee's original on side A.
Retro Shack SORRY, check out the bee-gees from the 1970-80s, faith no more copied it!
Retro Shack just said in 2016 it had the Beegees ORIGINAL on side A.
It's actually from the 60's. The Bee Gees had pretty much abandoned this style of baroque pop by the 70's.
Wow, I never saw or heard this.
I agree, you can see as 'Micheal' leaves the stage and turns to look at the announcer, then the screen is dark. 0:18-0:19 that is his chin mouth profile. The nose is fake. Gotta be him.
I've always been amazed at his range, but this voice is so unlike him. Long time fan and I really can barely hear it. It's like an American Mondo Cane! 'Muricane!
Do you know the name of the redhead actress? Can't find it. Thanks.
One of the most underrated voices ever.
I just found this video and can’t stop watching it. I always loved the original from the Bee Gees but David Hoyle’s performance on this video and Mike Patton’s voice is beyond words. Michelle Butterly’s performance is equally stellar.
I always get the chills when he hits the chorus.
I love this video so much more then the version where they cut the dialogue out. Really tells a great story with a great song. Love it!
Vrdd 😢😢😢
Depends sometimes I want the song sometimes I want the drama
Yes. I've been watching that version for years and only found this today.
1:38 the moment when people realize that they are facing someone extraordinary
David Hoyle does a marvelous performance as the 'singer' here.
It’s so hard to convince myself that he isn’t the one singing. It’s brilliant.
In fact, this is made brilliantly! I could watch and listen to that endlessly. And if it’s really Mike Patton‘s voice, then it had the very best lifetime moment in this recording 🤩👍🏼
dare to say its much, much, better than the original (with respect to the beegees).mike patton really expressed it in his eyes, and the voice, such majesty.
Of course it's Mike Patton. No one else could hit those notes.
@@arnelnaca702Except that's not Mike Patton, it's David Hoyle.
Somehow it reminds me a bit of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, especially the second half of it, like the "I'm Going Home" song by Tim Curry... creepy in a good sense. Goosebumps.
Holy crap. I remember when this came out and I totally did NOT realize that Bilbo/Arthur Dent/star of so much awesome British programming and movies - Martin Freeman, was in it. Mind = Blown.
Martin Freeman wasn't famous in 1998
Bilbo Baggins and Faith No More! Ain't life grand?
CountOrlok22 Bilbo Baggins, John Watson and Faith No More. Couldn't ask for anything else.
@@cherrylips234 Also , for anyone that watches Dr Who , the other guy is Rose Tylers dad. (actually pretty much all the cast are still working on TV/movies )
"And I love CZcams" what an ending !!
I thought she said I love U2
Ich höre den song heute das erste mal und bin total überwältigt. Der song und die performance sind wundervoll, herzerwärmend, grossartig, einmalig. You made my day. Grüsse aus berlin, germany.😊😊😊😊😊🎉
I started a joke
Which started the whole world crying
But I didn't see
That the joke was on me, oh no
I started to cry
Which started the whole world laughing
Oh, if I'd only seen
That the joke was on me
I looked at the skies
Running my hands over my eyes
And I fell out of bed
Hurting my head from things that I'd said
'Til I finally died
Which started the whole world living
Oh, if I'd only seen
That the joke was on me
I looked at the skies
Running my hands over my eyes
And I fell out of bed
Hurting my head from things that I'd said
'Til I finally died
Which started the whole world living
Oh, if I'd only seen, oh yeah
That the joke was on me, oh no
That the joke was on me
Oh, no, no, no
The transcription of the dialogues would be epic
better love story than twilight...
I have just encountered this version of this song, it is utterly stunning! I have no doubt that it is going to take some introspection and careful consideration for me to even begin to understand what my very visceral reaction to this video, song, performance, etc. is all about. I really experienced a tornado of seemingly contradictory feelings and emotions from this work as a whole. Hard to explain, but if pressed to describe it, it was like a very comforting sadness, or a tranquil terror, anyhow, it seemed to jerk me around in many different directions. It feels so very odd, I can't classify it, but I am grateful to have experienced a feeling so novel and new to me. I would like to thank everyone involved in this, I enjoyed it very much. Oddly, the BeeGee's song and version never hit me this way, I liked it alright, but I never felt this power and emotion from their version.🤨
Wow
Ud. Lo dijo todo!
One of the most incredible performances of all time. And he sang it himself.
Do you mean David Hoyle (the guy lip syncing on stage) no he didn't sing this himself, it's sang by Mike Patton.
One of the greatest songs and videos ever!
I love this version
Twin Peaks like atmosphere
For the daylight set.
This is brilliant! Love it.
Love this video, real Ken Loach film feel to it. 🤘FИM🤘
what the name of movie?
Michelle Butterly is divine in this. I love her her Liverpudlian accent (too refined to be called Scouse!)
Hahaha, I don´t expect to see Mr. Bilbo Baggins in this video here.
Love this version.
I made it thru istening to FNM. While in the Marines I got introduced to Jamiroquai and instantly fell in love with them. It took me some for it to resonate that they had a sound familiar to FNM in some of their music. Virtual Insanity being the guilty party.
I'm just now getting Evidence for the first time and at this point, I can't figure out who influenced who. Two of my most favorite bands coming together in one is a total dream come true.
1:50... "Bloody Hell" lol
I started a joke .....and at the end I just loved it!
Just tremendous!
The video is great, the voice is great, the actors are great and when you swirl and mix everything up it becomes awesome.
marvelous!
Great Cover!!!

Sou FÃ DO BEE GESS MAS SEM DUVIDA ESSA É A MELHOR VERSÃO DA MÚSICA 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Você tem razão, tem algumas interpretações que ficam tão boas quanto os originais, Whitney Houston cantou " I Will aways love you" da Dolly Parton, e até Calum Scott cantando a música da Robyn "Dancing on
my Own",
espectacular
I’m from Huddersfield. I live in Barnsley. How av I never seen this vid before 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤷♂️😂 I LOVE FNM, bungle, tomahawk etc
Awesome shit... don't fight it

Es la mejor versión del tema . No pensé que alguien la cantara mejor que Andy Gibb
No fue Andy Gibb(RIP) Brother, Quien canto esta rolita fue Robin Gibb(QEPD)

Really a shame: David Hoyle lipsyncs a Faith No More-song that is a Bee Gees cover and she loves U2.

The famous performance start in here
I'VE NEVER SEEING THIS VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's because i's been taken down and the one without dialogues was pushed out. I don't know why. Possibly someone got offended, which is a common issue nowadays...
But this is the original one.
I'm going on an adventure!
.... and i love you too......!!
Me hizo llorar😢
Mike Payton at the beginning “you take me to”...haha I can’t!😂
you go tell'em david
"Bloody hell" lol I love Martin Freeman.
Woww
BILBO BAGGINS!! HE'S NOT TRYING TO ROB YOU!!........he's trying to entertain you
Doctor Who, Sherlock, The Office, Nathan Barley, Benidorm
