So the Anne and Mary storyline is based on Who is Afraid of Virginia Wolf. Where a young couple have a dinner party with an older, unhappy couple. And the young couple learns in order to not be them, they have to communicate!! The clock and a few other things are a nod to the play!
I loved seeing the sandwich gag resurrected for this episode. (And you can just barely see that Lucius breaks when the sandwich hits him-- Nathan Foad thought he was off camera!) The fight Ed and Stede have feels like it's starting to clear the air-- it's stuff that needs to be said. (And when Stede compliments Ed's beard and Ed says that tiny, almost involuntary-sounding "thank you," I think, They're going to get through this. They can still appreciate things in each other. They can figure out how to do things differently.)
@@ChachiSays at the end of 1.6 Roach tosses a sandwich to Izzy as he's preparing to row away ("made you a sandwich, for the trip") and it bonks Izzy's head and splashes into the water. And then at the beginning of 2.4, Roach has made *Ed* a sandwich, and Ed bats at it like an especially irritated cat, at which point Stede catches it ("don't you want your sammie?""). And then Ed baps it again, and it smacks Lucius. According to Samba Schutte, at least some of this was improvised.
Theirs' is a wild story. "Calico Jack"'s actual name was John Rackam, and he and a gang, including Bonny and Read, stole a sloop out of Nassau harbour in 1720 and became pirates. They were only at sea for a couple months before they were captured, but witnesses at their trial confirmed that Bonny and Read were part of the crew, and that they dressed as men while pirating. They were sentenced to hang, but reprieved because both were apparently pregnant. Read died in prison, Bonny was probably eventually released (making her the sole survivor of her crew). Their story was reported (and embellished) a few years later in a book called A General History of the Pyrates, which led to them becoming the most famous female pirates (number three is probably Zheng Yi Sao, or the Irish pirate Grainne O'Malley).
Loving your reactions as always!! I was just curious, was there any particular reason for changing the physical layout of your videos? It was a surprise to see the editing of you over the clips change midway through this series. I hope you finish this show, the ending is definitely an emotional rollercoaster but well worth it! Hope you're doing well! 💙
But that got me thinking once you’re finished with the current shows (although DW will take a while ahahahah)… if you’re taking suggestions🙈 in case you haven’t seen them yet: the sandman and a series of unfortunate events
Thanks for watching, everyone! The FULL/UNEDITED reactions to the ENTIRE SERIES are already available HERE: www.patreon.com/chachisays
"Do what you want. You're good at that." Ed has learned passive aggression.

Oh! I’ve heard of that story. Never seen it, though.
@@ChachiSays it's a really good play, funny yet endearing!
Ed folded like a cheap suit the second Stede turned on the puppy eyes.

How do I not know about the sandwich gag? 😅

Ann or Anne Bonny and Mary Read were famous female pirates. They worked for a while with another pirate called "Calico Jack."
Love the use of actual pirate references in this show
They are pretty elastic with their history, but they seem to check it out a bit first.
