It is crazy that the great Late Patrick Winston is still refered as Student in the subtitles. Says so much about calibre of M Minsky as one of the biggest minds to ever dwell on the topic of AI.

Say I had a sentient robot, and the only energy needed to power it could be supplied via food as it has a human digestive system. Should it be able to see a mushroom and tell whether or not it will be dangerous to the body? If our creations don't have all the senses they need to make the right representations to survive then they're doomed
Took me a while to find this lecture so i am not sure you'll get this answer. One way: design a robust digestive system backup so when the primary food supply is poisoned it still can learn from the experience. Also, a sentient "robot" with a food chain is not easily distinguishable from "biological" beings. Sentient and robot .. which is forced labor or an automation of some sort .. I have question, too - what do you think - is it morally in order to force a sentient being into fulfilling extremely repetitive or hazardous tasks because its origin was of an artificial nature?

Crazy how much his voice changed from earlier videos 😱
His voice got better imo his younger voice is more annoying. He is constantly making the weirdest noises with his mouth squishy sounds and lip smacking and weird coughing in all his lectures where he’s old
@@jazdinojames3250 I love his lectures , but those squishy dry mouth sounds drive me up the wall ... I can only watch it for half an hour before I start to go into a rage, so I stop and then come back after a while. I will never forgive the audio "experts" who put a sensitive mic cranked up to eleven right next to his phlegm filled throat. It's a travesty!

Listening to a few lectures by Marvin I found the most interesting thing he said was "Blah blah blah". Quite profound.
