Not sure what I liked more. The fact that Michael J Fox could actually shred pretty good or that music legend Huey Lewis was so noticeably supportive and proud of him during the practices.
Huey is like that tbh. A great guy that's as down-to-earth as a celeb can get
Guys, anybody pls I want this full music guitar plays.... Guitar 🎸
They’re both immaculate things to see 😂
And this is AFTER Eric Stoltz was fired, and they had to reshoot a ton of the film. Michael was barely getting any sleep and still gave 110%.
He didn't play any of it he was miming
I love seeing Huey’s actual reaction to Michael playing the guitar. It seems he had great appreciation for how well Michael was playing his song. Quite the contrast from the character Huey played.
Nice to see, he actual can play guitar...
Hes not playing hes miming
Didn't realize Michael J Fox was actually playing! Makes me love this movie even more
No...He has NOT played...
Its for marketing purposes and to add some spice to the movie
But still he was just darn too loud. Lols XD
He was miming. The guitar coach was helping him make it look more realistic.
Boom! Legend, one of the greatest actors in the 80s. Also enjoyed his sitcoms!
@@marshallmathers2740 Yes but he could obviously play a barre chord. They're really hard if you've never played before.
holy shit so he was actually playing
well yeah. You should look up coldplay and michael j fox.He showed up at the concert and he played Johnny B Good
Jess hp31 I knew he could play guitar, I just never knew they used audio of him playing the guitar in the final edit of the movie.
He doesn't play, but he's acting fantastically. Even in Johnny B Goode I know thats wrong what he is playing, but it looks damn right. He plays the right rhythm.
Thats wrong, he was finger synching the whole song to the music. The visual editing may have been off but Michael could play the whole song if he wanted to. Thats also him playing at the dance auditions.
Yes, Michael wasn't a bad player at all
Didn't realise Michael J Fox was actually playing that Van Halen style lead on Power of Love. Damn Cool Dude!
He's syncing to playback here. Just doing it really well, because he's a guitarist.
@DaveDexterMusic did you even watch the video? He's actually playing at 00:30
he wasn't
@@liquidbraino nope
@@ufo69691 he was playing there but the audio of the actual take was pre recorded
I cracked up like hell the first time I saw this. Huey Lewis himself making a cameo, trashing his own song, LOL
Nice avatar...haha
I never realized that was him until watching this.
That's what he wanted. If the movie bombed he didn't want to be associated with it.
The guy who is sitting next to him in the actual scene is Eric Stolz who was originally cast as Marty
You’re just too darn loud
Huey Lewis saying "Perfect" ! XD
in the story Marty is a fan of Huey Lewis, so he was playing for the test at school. In the second film, in that shark ologram scene, in the original script, it was for Marty to see a Huey Lewis show and his band playing, and he was amazed, thinking he was watching his idols up close, and when Huey Lewis finished touching, Marty was approaching to compress him, but they disappeared, since it was a plot of them, Marty was disappointed. They should have kept this scene from that shark trying to devour Marty and he'd be screaming like an idiot in the middle of the street
@EBISU 88 Huey*
@EBISU 88 well, in my country is not
or however is said...
@EBISU 88 no, in spanish it is after
Huey actually loves Michael J. Fox's performance 0:31
Lazaros Theodorou Im afraid he was too darnm loud
I love that Huey really seemed generally impressed and tickled at Michael's accuracy and insistence on getting it right and not just miming like an idiot like so many Hollywooders. I love that scene so much more as a guitar player, that was genuine!
Huey Lewis looked like he was gonna recruit Michaels into The News lol
Fox News....HA, I made a joke!
I'd pay to see Huey Lewis and The Fox News to be honest…
@@FreddieHg37 Steve Doocy on bass, Pete Hegseth on drums, Brian Kilmeade on lead, Sean Hannity on B3, and The Five brass section. Huey Lewis would probably slit his wrists before being a front man for that crew.
@@IMCcanTWEESTED WTF are you talking about?
@@FreddieHg37 You thought the Fox News would be Huey's band with Michael J Fox? Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Rupert Murdoch would sue their asses off.
Man we had it good in the 80's and early 90's, I didn't realize until recently how fortunate we were to grow up in that era.
Before the scourge of the Internet. I miss dialing into BBSs. The Information Age was very short lived and quickly gave way to the Misinformation Age; and now the Echo Age.
No doubt. It was a different country.
Oh man I miss the 90's. The simplicity. The promise of a bright future. The early Internet and its geeky magic.
@@springbloom5940 “Scourge of the Internet”... you can say that again, particularly mobile tech which oversaturated everything and bastardized information.
Yep,2020 sucks donkey balls.
I like how Huey is just hanging out enjoying Michael's guitar playing... Dude was genuinely thrilled
Playing guitar in front of a legit rock star like Huey Lewis? That'd be daunting.
toddsmitts huey looks so proud it's adorable
But Huey approved... that had to be an ego boost...
He isn't playing here for real though. At 0:50 look closely at his right hand. He isn't picking the notes (that very distinct sound is made by pinch harmonics, which require digging into the strings with hard picking, and he isn't picking at all). That's why they filmed from behind him, it was the real musician playing. Kinda weird footage actually, like part of trying to create some additional star aura for him. No doubt he could play somewhat at 0:33 it could be actually him, but at 0:50 it just isn't him soloing
you don't need to dig in to get good harmonics, you just need to pick and dampen the string a bit with your thumb.
toddsmitts right?
Oh my goodness. Now I realized how much love and efforts he gave for that film. A legend. Must absolutely watch all the three parts again.
I love the fact that Huey said to Robert that he was told, when he was in Marty's position, that he was 'too darn loud,' at an audition and maybe he should say that? Robert said yes and it turned out to be one of the most iconic lines in the films next to 'where we're going, we don't need roads,' which was also off script!
Michael J. Fox and "Back to the Future" brought magic to the world, made us conscious on how little actions and steps taken in life in the right moment will lead us to a destiny we create.
I heard on an interview that he is trying to find answers about what has happened to him, and I deeply feel that there is a great teaching, a "Maestro" speaking to him beyond what he suffers physically. I believe still has the chance to create his destiny in good health by listening to what has happened to him and by saying the right words.
Just finished watching the saga (again!), totally touched by its beauty and its magic.
I believe in "The Power of Love"🎸💛
I just watchrd spin City again the other day its so relevant to now.. Hes such a cool cucumber..
As if I couldn’t love this trilogy even more... 🎸
Michael J Fox..... what a legend!
0:35 looks like Huey Lewis just finding out that MJF can actually play guitar.
"That's great, Michael!"
That's Great, Scott!
Love this behind the scenes stuff with Huey. In this and every other thing I've seen him in, he seems totally free of ego. He's a huge music fan and loves to support other bands too. Total class act.
Your kids are gonna love it
Awesome behind scenes! nothing like it, great 80's!!!!! I was there!!!!!
Sleon where? Just the 80s or on set?
My brother brought me to see it at the cinema, I was 10. It was a great summer!
Play guitar in Van Halen Style is good.
That Huey Lewis stares at you in amazement is priceless ............
"I'm afraid you're just too darn loud."
This isnt Johnny B Goode. Its The Power of Love
Yes but it's still pretty damn awesome though
It's Back In Time not Power Of Love or Johnny B Goode
no shit sherlock
WolveMaster22 ! Actually it is The Power Of Love by Huey Lewis And The News
@wolvemaster, no, it's power of love.
I love how Huey Lewis is in awe at Michael playing it. Awesome!
I love the film, but just got a whole new level of respect for MJF knowing he's actually playing the guitar! Awesome!

Well, I'll let another Rock n'Roll legend give you their version of the man then czcams.com/video/HvomkUR28XU/video.html
Jay McD surely lots of celebrities have bad attitude, i agree with you here. But it's just simply impolite for you to talk like this about passed away man, that's what i wanted to say. Don't you think so?
Amazing, Michael really played the guitar, that's why music sounds so alive in that scene.
Huey Lewis' reaction to Michael J. Fox's playing is priceless!
holy shit, i had no idea he was actually playing. I used to bomb hills on a flat nose nash with levi's jacket, walkman and the BTTF soundtrack. And certainly made me want to play guitar even more. BTTF got so many kids into guitar and skateboarding. I can't think of any mainstream movie that did more for skateboarding, you could mention thrashin or gleaming the cube but they both came out later when skateboarding was already big and not as many people watched them.
I mean they were playing to make the scene look authentic but it's likely it was overdubbed in a studio.
@The Saint nah scenes like these in movies are generally always overdubbed so they can get the sound mixing perfect. Even full blown musicians overdub themselves in a studio for movie scenes. They're just hired to mime convincingly. An example would be the Ramones in Rock N Roll Highschool they played the live show but it was overdubbed for the film so they could get a perfect sound mix. Recording a live show causes a lot of distortion and makes it difficult to work with plus they can't edit each instrument individually.

Ok so am I the ONLY person who hasn't realised until 2022 the Michael was ACTUALLY playing the guitar and that Huey Lewis had a cameo in the film whilst they played HIS song ???
😂
Nope. I first saw Back To The Future in 1986 when it first went to video. I was only 4. Now I’m also 43 in 2024. I did not know that Michael J. Fox actually played.
The bass player in the “Pinheads” IS the guitar teacher.

Will always be one of my favorite movies.
I love how funny and ironic it is that Huey Lewis is the guy that tells them to stop, they’re “just too darn loud.” When it’s his own song! This was a brilliant cameo appearance.
2020年6月に、BTFの3部作を3週間連続でTVで観ました!やはり、エンターテインメントの極み満載の作品でした!!

"That's great Michael " love it
My favorite movie of all time and I'm just now learning he was really playing there ! God I love this movie so much
Ibanez roadstar II, maybe rs 430... The coach with his cigarette... only ih the eighties :)
Roadstar. The yellow one, is a Hondo Chiquita, which is a rather expensive instrument.
You realize how many guitar players started playing guitar because of this movie? Marty McFly was definitely an influential guitar player although not much is written about it.
Well dang! Just seeing this now, in 2021, and this is sooooo coool!! Never knew Michael J. Fox was actually playing that... legit. Never had a clue. So cool - and so is the video in general. A piece of Americana. That was a great movie, and a great time!
The look on Huey's face, almost like "if this guy wasn't so busy with acting, he'd be great in my band!"
it's unbelievable how many guitarists this movie has created
Huey having multiple eargasms from 0:35 onwards is just priceless.
Little did I know at the time when I was 9 years old this scene was being filmed down the street from my house
My father lived down the street from where Hilldale was in the second and third film was back in 1989 he saw the third film being filmed during the scene with the drag race at the end of the third film he has some pictures
Lucky
Hewey Lewis pulls off the nerdy school teacher look perfectly.
Hold it, fellas. I'm afraid....this is must too darn loud.
One of the best movie lines!!
*just too darn loud.
Yeah totally agree with ya.
Nice to know Huey shown approval when he's not saying too darn loud.
Young, rich and famous in the mid 80's Amercia....you can't top this...
Had no idea, I always thought it was just dubbed in. Respect!
You guys want to see MJF in another movie where he really plays (and sings) check out "Light Of Day (1987)." Joan Jett co-stars as his sister and they play in a band together. Party on, dude.
That one's hard to find...I always wanted to see it because I'm a Paul Schrader fan.
This makes my heart pound with love
Eric Stoltz couldn't do that
Exactly. They fired him for being way too serious and having no comedic timing. Have to wonder if they even filmed this scene with him before MJF came aboard?
No, but his kids are gonna love it.
Paul hanson did teach eric stoltz how to play first. when replaced he taught michael.
Eric Stoltz always looks like he smells like cheese.
He used to play as "Eric Stoltz and the News" but the band replaced him.
You like Huey Lewis and news?
there ok i guess....
Patrick Bateman
I like some of their old music.
they are a bit new wave for my tastes
But your kids are gonna love it.
That’s pretty cool he was actually playing
Right? I wouldn't have guessed
A very beautiful song inside a wonderful movie. Awesome!
Ah the Ibanez Roadstar II. Great guitar. I had one in red.
Yep, I spotted that guitar too! I also still have a red one. I got in '86 when I was 16 years old, and still play it proudly today.
Did you notice that the back of his guitar neck was finished in black? Our Roadstar 2 models have unfinished necks.
@@studiobcproductions I purchased a white one with black pick guard and a sealed wood-grain neck back in 86 as well. I past it onto my son who still plays it today.
Ridiculously talented MJF!
Love this thanks for sharing!!
how long till San Junipero is real and we can all just go live in our favorite decade forever?!
Can definitely see the beginnings of Parkinson's disease in this interview
yea I saw that, poor Michael
Cool, I never imagined that he actually played in that scene!
This whole time I thought he was just miming, every article ever said so. This is the first time I ever saw this, how did I miss this for nearly 40 years?
These were such wonderful times
Michael J Fox is soooooo FIIINNEE!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 then and now 🔥 🔥 I wanted to marry him as a teen. Thought I’d catch up in age to him 😂😂😍😍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

Love how Huey was actually super into the jam.
This is so great great! Love it
I was so sure that music was dubbed in. To my suprise Micheal J Fox was actually playing and playing very well.
It was dubbed in, but it doesn't change the fact that MJF learned to play this part note for note. What you hear in the movie was a full track recorded in the studio but MJF mimed the hell out of it.
Every scene this movie is magic! A icon pop!!
