    Black and white is classic so let’s learn to make the best black and white images that money can buy. There are a thousand different tutorials out there on black and white images, but this is the best one. We’re going to build a black and white image and compare it to three different types of black and white processes in Photoshop and talk about adding depth and BITE to your black and white images.

    I just remembered this tutorial while I was looking for a great way to make stunning B&W photos... then I realized that I hadn't seen one of your vid for a while... That really made me nostalgic. Hope everything's fine for you Nathaniel, please come back with the same energy + good tuts! ;)

    I always think: "Ugh, I already know this!" But then you manage to mention something I don't know like the combination of a gradient map and channel mixer. It has the most pleasing contrast.

      +Blaine Conners I've played around with it, but wasn't really a fan. It was too far out of my normal Photoshop workflow to justify forcing it into place. I know a couple guys who love Nik products though!

    What I would do is just turn it into black and white by desaturating it, and then tweak it with the Camera Raw filter, because I can access shadows and highlights, etc, so here a fifth way!!

    • @tutvid
      @tutvid  Před 8 lety +1

      +Skeleton Hammoudeh Dang! I could have included that here. Desaturating and using a Camera RAW filter (or just smart object in from a RAW image) can be a really cool way to make the black and white with a TON of control over your color channels.

    and what about curves? can i use that too?

    • @tutvid
      @tutvid  Před 8 lety

      +Gabriel Friedel Curves can be used to introduce more contrast or add more of a faded effect to the shadows/highlights, but not actually make the black and white conversion with Curves.
