from the liner notes of the album:
Thank you to my friends and family who have pulled me out of the darkness again and again, but a special thanks to my precious family, Bekah, Håkan and Rune Lunn for their patience, forgiveness and “boundless” love. You are my life. I love you.
To those I have let down or dissapointed in my 37 years on this earth, please accept this work as my recognition of a need to change, grow and to atone for failures. I am sorry I have let you down and will strive to continue to become a better man each and every day I have left on this earth.
A portion of the profits from this record will be donated to help folks living with severe mental illness.
This record is dedicated to all who refuse to give up and continue to struggle for light and beauty in this world
and is in memory of John Prine, who gave us so much in his lifetime, and to Reva Myers Shemanski who lives on in our cherished memories of her radiant personailty, brilliant art and infectious laughter.
Fill your heart with hope... a hope that we will return again into the light.
Don’t let the fire burn out.

His work means so much to me. Sitting in prison his albums bring such bright vibrant colors of nature into my grey bleak world. One could not count the hours spent drifting away, cold and scared inside this hell. Thank you .
Ironically, Panopticon is a term for a futuristic prison.
@@casualeye1633 unironically stares at the watchtower, wondering if they're staring back😢
@@casualeye1633 it's not futuristic, the concept comes from the 1700's
@@johncreach8816 Fair enough. In the strictest sense the panopticon is an old design, but Orwell's 1984 was published in 1949 -- doesn't mean it's not a futuristic vision. In a broader sense and as exemplified by Orwell's novel, the panopticon can be extrapolated to a societal system of total, centralized surveillance, ie "Big Brother." Nothing more futuristic than that. So, yes, it is a term for a futuristic prison. The society is the prison.
Im gonna tell the guards you have a phone
Panopticon holds a special place in my heart that no band will ever replace. It's an experience of the landscapes of America that I've grown up in reach of and captivated by. It's comfort in the hardest days of my life. This album is no less of a masterpiece than all of Lunn's previous work has been. Goddamn I was so happy when I saw that he had released this.
Roads to the North is one of my favorite albums of all time… and man here we go again!!!
The Embers At Dawn is some of the best post metal i have ever heard absolutely stunning
Rope Burn Exit makes me reflect very deeply on the last 8 years of my life. Fuck man.
Great track
Dead Loons is one of the best tracks I've ever heard. Breath taking.
Dont know why, but this Song creates pictures of the last of us 2 in my head
@@Micha83HB Yeah, listening to this record made me wanna restart The Last Of Us 2 again.
The quiet portion reminds me of *shels
I think "Rope burn exit"is even better.
We agree!
Country music wishes it could twang this good
Tyler Childers says no
Nothing short of captivating. A. Lunn doesn't miss - Every album is an epic landscape that draws you in.
I’m getting addicted to this album. Every song sounds so deep, the growls and cleans are impeccable, the heavily distorted guitars and echoey drums sound incredible
A fantastic record ! (somehow in Agalloch territory for me & also sometimes close to Vallendusk too, 2 great bands, but there is a uniqueness to what Austin does, especially his melodic take/play & prod mix on compositions). Thanks for the upload, greetings from France ! 🤘
this band is just great album after great album. cant get enough!
Panopticon’s best work to date IMO
Mmmm idk Autumn Eternal is pretty damn near perfect alongside Social Disservices.. this is great so far, been listening to the vinyl lately... I dig the different production approach. Almost feels like a slight shift into death metal at times.
I like Panopticon. Not 1 bad album. The guy makes amazingly powerful music.
Moth Eaten Soul has Chaos Moon vibes going on. Love it.
I discovered this album and the Panopticon in general about six months ago. This album hits me in its entirety. It is simply beautiful music and it fits perfectly with what I have experienced in recent years. The artist perfectly matched the sounds of the instruments, different genres of music, which you can discover and enjoy how it all flows. He is a man with great sensitivity to music and nature. This is one of the most important albums for me in general.
'the embers at dawn' is fantastic
Found you folks because I was looking up synonyms last night for something that meant wide or to cover a wide area so I can find a little used word while talking to a women. Found the Greek root words pan-optic. Learned through its definition that the related word panopticon is a term used to describe a central tower used in a prison. Next morning here I am having my yogurt, granola and coffee and I was like bet someone has made a band named after a panopticon and here you are.
Rock on brahsefs rock on, my singer just died from fentanyl over dose… may he Rest In Peace. Live while you can folks.
You don't have to be a metalhead... this is just good music
"Metalheads" suck anyways... I listened to this, Marvin Gaye and My Bloody Valentine today lol
@@AbigorRealm69 no ones impressed and liking metal while simultaneously shitting on the people who enjoy it as a whole makes you a turd. Every group of people "suck", get out of here child. Also if you actually knew metalheads you would know most enjoy everything from the Cure to Wu Tang clan, clearly you are just projecting whatever bullshit your favorite form of media told you to believe.
in you there are two wolves ....one is sensitive cowboy and the other is darkest mf on earth
You've now begun to reach for the light
This band is heavily underrated..thanks to Anthony fantano
Not sure if I agree with that statement, are they as popular as Gojira or Mastodon, no. But under rated? Compared to who? Outside of Wolves I don't get your statement as Panopticon is talked about and respected more than most metal bands.
I agree
When it comes to black metal, it's all about the old school bands
But if you are gonna dig a little deeper, you'll 100% come across his work
Highly atmospheric and even powerful music full of differend moods and emotional statements-excelllent!
30 seconds in and I'm already crying this is so beautiful
Rope Burn Exit is absolutely chilling
Moth Eaten Soul damn son
Moth Eaten Soul reminds me of MGLA a ton
Song of the year, imo 🤟🤩🤟
Panopticons's music means more to me then they will ever know, thank you Panopticon.
The embers at down always make me feel better
One day, maybe...I will see the light
🤘 One of the best albums of 2021! Perfect art! Greetings from Brazil's admirers of Extreme Metal and Folk Music! 🤘
The best I heard so far in 2021! I can’t stop!
Embers at dawn is pure fucking life
Really good. Thank you.
Love it. Austin is a genius.
Worth the wait
Fan fucking tastic. I've been a fan for a while now but, this might already be my favorite release so far.
No hay ningún trabajo de panopticon que no sea una belleza
Tant en Belgique qu'auprès de mes Frères de France, cet album est déjà dans le top 5 de nos coups de coeur !!!
Phenomenal.. Austin Lunn can do no wrong..
Man... that first track though.. absolute solid album!
An absolute return to form for my favourite black metal project
This is not just a metal band, this is achingly beautiful and cathartic music. Thanks Fantano.
Panopticon and WITTR to the top.
Now waiting for new DWEF and maybe NeO to have a musically glorious 2021... ⚔️
who are DWEF and NeO?
@@coryleblanc DWEF is for Der Weg Einer Freiheit, NeO is for Ne Obliviscaris, top bands mate!
You better give them a chance..😉
Obrigado
The Embers At Dawn, que chingón tema¡¡¡¡¡¡
outstanding work
Atmospheric would be a gross understatement. Painting a vivid picture through musical medium. Not usually a big black metal fan, but this is quite transcendent. Will be listening to the entirety of this. The string arrangements alone are fantastic.
badass
Que precioso está el tema de Dead Loons....i want the lyrics of every single song, pls
Another superb album from Panopticon. If you're interested, here is an interview he did with Banger TV (the team that did the Headbanger's Journey doc) where he talks about what makes him make music, and also running a farm, among other things: czcams.com/video/jrAptfhluds/video.html
Музыка Огонь Ёпта
Charlieeee!!!!
Get this album on CD already!!! I’ve lost a lot of respect for Bindrune over this. UNACCEPTABLE! CDs are not dead!
I came from Anthony’s review and holy shit.... This is beautiful
The first song feels like it could've been on the Far Cry 5 soundtrack lol
I am a Black/Death Metal guy but sometimes need a sound like this.
Does anyone have the lyrics for the embers at dawn? I can't exactly make out the words been said
I really thank fantano for introducing me to this
This sounds like he has taken the sound he developed on Kentucky and refined it to perfection
I know this album is personal related, but is this the same R.A.B.M band named panopticon?
*Listening to The Embers At Dawn* When did this turn into Mirror Reaper? *Checks metal-archives* Oh shit, that IS him
#2021
this remind me of black gaze
I'm all by myself.I Don t think it's worst for me.its just more complicated I think.I don't really want to get out of it.I just need.I.must.theres no other way.iys hard? It is.but it's necessary.theres no other way.actualy, there are two ways.life and death.life os the hardest way.most when you are by yourself.I.hate to recognize it.but maybe life,is the better way.God knows, I don't think this way.
matias parkman me trajo aqui ^.^
Pairs nicely with the John Wick Trilogy btw…🤘👊⚡️🦇⚡️👊🤘
nice work. makes me think of Cult of Luna on meth.
I miss my wife
lol
Esta muy bueno , pero la voz esta muy atras , y le sobran 25 minutos .
I found his album by accident and I clicked it thinking it was something black metal-ish but actually I don't think what I'm listening to
I want to really like this but why does the production make it sound like I'm hearing it through a wall ?
I thought the same when I put this on my car and radio speakers, but if you have a good pair of speaker monitors, maybe listen to it on that. It still may sound the same to you, but I find it has a epic fantasy ambience to it.
yeah wtf... the music seems good, but the mixing really prevents me from fully appreciating what is going on
I dunno. Production sounds better to me than a lot of black metal. It probably shouldn't be 100% polished? Maybe that's just me.
I'd assume you don't listen to a lot of black metal
21:01
This part.. What was he thinking? Slightly awkward if it makes me want to sing along to another song.
Strange song, really has vibes from older work like Subject of Mortality and Sacco & Vanzetti, hard to really put my finger on.
What other song? We can't read your mind buddy. And it sounds more like his crust roots.
@@patrickbertlein4626 First part refers to 'Flag Burner, Torch Bearer', still don't think it needed specifying tho.
This album could be fit well into the Far Cry 5 OST, though that game is irretrievably terrible lol
... sold out :(
oh come on you can't pull off being Kvlt and enjoying anything from Panopticon, they are not that band. Has to be a joke comment.
@@patrickbertlein4626 You must be misinterpreting something. I am quite open enough to enjoy his music now and then for a change. Even if the band does not fall 100% into my usual genre scheme.
