I had my first child. A baby daughter, Kashi. When she cries at night, I sing this to her, and dance with her. She stops crying. Miracles in the smaller details of life. I am seeing Sri Krishna Das on November 8th at the same church. I can't wait to hear this one and to go off to another place for a little while. Amazing.....I feel so blessed.

I think a better way to glorify and name our children would be to put 'Das' in their names when we give them names of Ishwaras. We can't be equal to them, we can only be their devotees, hence the pada of Das.

You very well defined what exactly happened to you . Lord Krishna tells in Bhagwad Gita that we are soul not this material body .. and we (souls) are His part and parcel only and our purpose is to be lovingly serve Him and go back to Him from this material prison. The real nature of soul is to be happy because soul is sat(eternity), chit (knowledge), anand(happiness) .
In kaliyuga there is only one process prescribed to go back home, go back to Godhead that is chanting "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare" and thats the only way a soul can be permanently be happy.
